The best finales are ones where everything is wrapped up, and closure is given, but the future could be anything we, the audience, want it to be. This was one of them.

“Graduation Ceremony”

Through thick and thin, until there is absolutely no chance of victory left and even beyond, the residents of Sakurasou stick together and never give up. Never.

「きらめく日々を駆け抜けろ」 (Kirameku Hibi o Kakenukero)
“Dash Through Those Brilliant Days”

Hey. What colour do you want to be?

「誰のせいでもなく雨は降る」 (Dare no Seide mo Naku Ame wa Furu)
“No One’s to Blame When It Rains”

Here it is – the crashing, the failure, the pain in massive quantities. Time to earn that happy ending, folks…if we get it at all.

「この先もただいまを言うために」 (Konosaki mo Tadaima o iu Tameni)
“So We Can Keep Calling It Home”

Good storytelling sure can hurt.

“Home Is Where Sakurasou Is”

Nineteen episodes after it began, we go back to the pre-Mashiro days for a reminder of why Sakurasou is worth saving.

“Love for an Alien”

Don’t do it for anybody else. Just do what you really want to do.

「バレンタインはチョコの日よ」 (Barentain wa Choko no hi yo)
“Valentine’s is a Day for Chocolate”

Valentine’s Day is always certain to bring major developments, and this one certainly did. The surprise was in how subtly it effected the main love triangle, while wrecking balls were reserved for one of the secondary ships.

「ずっと、好きでした……」 (Zutto, Sukideshita……)
“I’ve always loved you”

He did it! He half-passed! Woohoo!!

「いつもの自分はどこにいる？」 (Itsumo no Jibun wa Doko ni Iru?)
“Where’s Your Usual Self?”

Sakurasou is at its best when it’s funny, silly, uplifting, dramatic, and a little bit ridiculous, but best of all is when it speaks to what it means to be an artist.

「イヴの窓辺とそれぞれの灯り」 (Ivu no Madobe Tosorezoreno Akari)
“Windows and Lights on Christmas Eve”

Some conflicts are resolved, while others head in the opposite direction. Misaki-sempai…

「冬の一歩手前で」 (Fuyu no Ippotemae de)
“Just a Stone’s Throw to Winter”

Mashiro is in full otome-mode, while both Misaki-sempai and Nanami go on the offensive. It may be getting cold outside, but inside Sakurasou, things are heating up.

「愛のパワーin文化祭」 (Ai no Pawa in Bunkasai)
“The Power of Love at the Cultural Festival”

Like clockwork, every fourth episode of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo really brings the power with the climax of an arc and some serious development for one or both of our leads. This time it’s Mashiro’s turn to changes.

“Galactic Cat Nyaboron”

Sorata’s heart moves for Mashiro as he prepares the perfect stage to say what needs to be said.

One of the things I’ve liked about Sakurasou since the beginning is how well the whole cast is utilized. This time it was not only Rita’s turn in the spotlight, but Akasaka’s as well.
