Huh?
What just happened? Lemme watch that part again…
Uh…is she doing what I think she’s doing? Wow? LOL?!!!
And the one girl in the show that nobody cared about just skyrocketed in the ratings. Forget Simoun, Strawberry Panic, Mai Otome* – Code Geass just took over as the yuri champ of anime! Indeed, we’ve seen many shows that just titillated us with girl on girl kissing, endless blushing, and a fiendish yuri predator with an Osaka accent, but when has yuri ever rounded third base in mainstream anime…on screen? Granted it was only a single girl with some wallet-size picture, the sheer vulgarity of it makes it more than deserving of recognition.
Nina really did it this time…the last time we saw convulsing of this degree was Elizabeth Berkeley in Showgirls flapping around in the pool like a dead fish out of water. Who would have thought that the prude was actually the most ecchi? Wait, didn’t I see this in that movie with Uma Thurman? Maybe Nina has superpowers too…her own Geass. Then again, it seems like all Geass users came into contact with C.C. at some point – mmm… C.C x Nina doujins, anyone?
At the very least, she’s lucky that the one to walk roll in on her was a blind girl. I can imagine at least fifteen different doujin-worthy alternate situations that could have arisen had it been anybody else…and about five others involving an electric wheelchair. Then again, this might be the overwhelming debut of the crippled-blind girl moe mode. Ah, anything’s possible.
Which ultimately brings me to my main question – what is Code Geass about, anyways? The Great Neko Chase episode was arguably the most entertaining one so far – highlighted by Kallen seemingly more perturbed that her first kiss was going to be stolen rather than the fact that she just blasted away half a dozen pilots days prior. Even the whole Zero thing has seemingly taken a back seat to C.C. and her Pizza Hut Bonta-kun. Keep in mind that Gundam Seed (and even that sham Destiny) never really strayed too far from its original purpose…sure, we got to see Lacus’ frilly costumes and pseudo-Lacus bounce around in some pop concert, but those were all within the context of the epic war that was going on. Geass? Besides Nina’s climactic moment, other highlights include Kallen’s shower scene and C.C.’s getup in episode 14. None of these really fit with the context…not that I’m complaining. But you know what – this ain’t Gundam, as much as it tries or tries not to be – and in the end, that’s a good thing.
Just like neo-Kanon has successfully distinguished itself from Haruhi, Geass is its own unique beast, even with the pink-haired bimbo and the two megayaoi male leads (they even have their own secret sign language…teeheehee). Part of that uniqueness is in the frequent distractions side-stories that crop up; another is the addition of characters like C.C., and now Nina, who completely change the makeup of the show. It’s like getting our seasonal Gundam fix, with a lot of extra flavor.
I can only hope that this Nina x Euphemia thing plays out to the finish…

*Yes, I haven’t posted in a few months because I was on strike after Omni chose Mai Otome as the top anime of 2006 – as one of the most covertly-vocal fans of Haruhi, I wasn’t going to let it go without protest. Yes, a very silent, loooong protest…
It was such a silent and long protest that I had no idea you were on strike… 😛
FTP! code geass ftw! Kallen is so kawaii!:)
I haven’t seen Gundam Seed, but Code Geass is strangely addicting. I don’t really understand’s Nina’s role outside of fanservice o_o i was a bit weirdest out.
lol, hurrah jaalin returns.
….lol i thought u were dead….
when was this scene?
@GStrike: Weirdo…
Welcome to two weeks ago…
yeah, I actually rewound this twice to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.. lol
O_O Who DIDN’T laugh when watching that episode?
^episode 12. let the number burn into your colllective consciousness. along with 4 (shower), 14(undergarmets), 15(partial frontal nudity), and no doubt numerous episodes to follow.
“But you know what – this ain’t Gundam, as much as it tries or tries not to be – and in the end, that’s a good thing.”
hope to god it stays that way. Kira and Lacus clones Suzaku and Euphemia always threaten a “SEED 3” happening. ;_; Though as long as they stay in their place of antagonists in part of a much larger group, they’re another good reminder that this is not gundam. though not nearly as fun as http://www.omni.fullgod.com/image/CODE%20GEASS/CODE%20GEASS%20-%2014%20-%20Large%2009.jpg
Write a FreezeFrame on Viletta’s D cup (from the looks of them) boobehs.
I didn’t understand this screen the first time it was pointed out, and now I still have no clue. Too dark. And I can’t the episode at the moment. Can someone just SAY what she is doing?
I think you misspelled the first line.

In case no one has seen the show yet, some backstory:
Nina (the chick in the picture) has a serious femchubby for Princess Euphemia (Euphie) of Brittania, after Euphie risked her own life by revealing her identity in front of some terrorist hostage-takers in order to try to save all the other hostages being held at the time. Since then, Nina (who is also a confirmed racist) has been Google-stalking Euphie, and has hinted that she wants to meet her (and likely try to consummate her lust).
The screenie you see above is from a (necessarily) dark scene of Nina pleasuring herself to a picture of Euphie on the corner of a table. It is staged in just a subtle enough manner that you actually do have to go back and watch it again in order to make sure that you did, in fact, just see what you thought you just saw. Much fun.
Meh…personally, I’m getting sick of all the yuri that’s been coming out lately. Same with loser boy harems as well. This particular anime took a X/1999-like spin and mixed it in with a Gundam-isque storyline, which I think is rather interesting. Though I have a feeling it’ll end somewhat similar like Death Note.
bak3donh1gh: japanese lacus/meer is voiced by tanaka rie, who also does the songs – she’s actually a pretty awesome singer (she’s also Chii from Chobits and Hiroko from the recent Hataraki Man) – rie’s songs on the gseed soundtracks are really quite good!
@Remy
I’d say the only real connection to X is that it’s the same character designers. seems more like pure death note smashed into gundam. but at the same time, I’ve yet to see something as standard mecha-ish as this series that’s had a death note ending.
worst thing that’s ever happened to the protagonist in a gundam-like show is he turns into a vegtable. and even then he eventually recovers.

*rather big UC gundam spoilers here*
Well… the protagonist of the original Gundam dies in Char’s Counter Attack (along with char). That’s pretty bad.
Not to mention that Lelouch really isn’t like any Gundam protagonist… he’s rather unique.
Everything you mentioned is the reason why Geass is such a great (and successful?) comedy show! Nowhere close the 2006 Hokuto no Ken movie though… now that’s comedy of 2006.
Yuri scenes do come out sometimes in anime… btw i think Tanaka Rie also have a part in Mai-Otome but i forget which character was she voicing.
If you speak of Tanaka Rie, you must mention Suigintou, her most treasured character. She even made a photoshoot cosplaying Gin-sama. In Mai Otome, Rie voiced the crazy lesbian stalker, Tomoe Marguerite. I love her voice ^^
Rift:
“Not to mention that Lelouch really isn’t like any Gundam protagonist… he’s rather unique.”
You bet he is… He’s not even a mecha pilot to begin with. Ehen he gets in one, he either screws up the whole thing or just stays in the shadows, away from the fight. =P
If you were going to pick a Gundam protagonist from GEASS, it would probably be Kallen — she’s the flipping ace pilot. (Or maybe, if you’re desperate that it MUST be a guy, Suzaku. But I personally don’t think he should, because his mental stability is dropping some.)
Lelouch is probably best described as “child born into royalty who ran away from it so he could win it back by utterly defeating his relatives outside of royal structure, following his father’s intentions anyway even though he tried and failed to defy them”.
For heaven’s sake, if he DOES manage to kill Britannia, he will just become the next Britannian (it might be changed to Lelouchian, but the idea’s the same) king, like his father. And it will start all over again, at the very least, some time around when he dies.
There is major plot-hole-age in the story, at least in terms of the “war” aspect. That much I can say. As for the rest… well, we’ll see how it comes along. At the very least — what happens when/if he gets Japan back? Does he go for the world? Strive for independence (and probably fail at least once when a stupid monarch takes power) like a certain Gundam Seed Nation (ORB)?
At least there’s some decent character development. Heck, if Shonen and Shojo are/were defined solely in terms of character development, not the existance or lack of violence and storyline styles, then this would be, in my opinion, considered shojo. A shojo mecha. *shrugs* But of course, the mechas automatically make it shonen… and shojo/shonen is too much of a over-simplification anyway. Bah.
I brightened up the picture. She’s just putting the picture down, nothing to get excited about.
yeah I notised the Nina thing
“….. was she just doing what I think she was doing?…. O.O OMG”
I will protest with you about Haruhi, mai otome isnt nearly as good.

He does not want power, he just want a world where his sister can live in peace. Remember that in recent episode he shows that he actually cares for the ppl around him, which is very much different from what his alter ego Zero has shown. Heck, if not for the GeAss power he accidentally got from CC, he could have tried a more peacefull way of acheiving this
THANK YOU QUIGONKENNY!
^probably also why he left Euphemia alive. she’s the perfect replacement for ruler of Britannia in a world where the weak can live happily.
and Lelouch is going to kill the king and all the other heirs for info on his mother’s death anyway. two birds, one stone.
im surprised at how clueless some of you are….

oops, forgot i have a no hotlinking script up.

Code is all about civilian life. On War.
Civilians living in a war torn time.
Too many rebels, too many massacres, too many knightframes, too many terrorist, too many freedom fighters, too many everything.
Pizza, sex, morality, friendship, ideology…. parts of war, parts of life.
And as I am listening to FLOW’s op I can’t help imagine: If ever the situation like in code arises, Will someone become Lelouch…?
This scene was so WTF…so random too, right in the middle of the Black Knights meeting, and then suddenly o_O
Ok, I just watched ep. 15 and didn’t see this scene that everyone is talking about! I am the only one ?
Thats because its in episode 12. And yeah, i noticed this the first time I saw it. At first I was like “LOL, it looks like she’s shagging a desk or something.” Then about 4 seconds later I realized that, yes, she was in fact shagging a desk. And then I laughed some more and went to sleep.
…
that left me almost mentaly scarred
