General Impressions
Boy oh boy — this episode caught me completely by surprise. Seeing how things were looking so positive at the end of last week’s episode, it was a little crazy to see the atmosphere snap from overly happy to downright disappointing. However, I think by the end of things, I found myself feeling pretty alright over what happened. Looking back at the events prior to this week’s episode in relation to Tachibana and Haruka, it would have been a little too easy if they were able to fix things without a bump or two along the way. Seeing how they’re really good friends who are both confused over just what to do since they’re stuck in an awkward spot, it makes sense that they’d probably have a tough time empathizing with each other when such a touchy topic came up. Luckily, it looks like things (hopefully) won’t stay too awkward between Tachibana and Haruka for too long. That and I hope we get an extra sappy and emotional scene whenever we get to see the two fix things.
Changing gears, let’s talk about Kondou for a little. First things first — god it was nice to see him outside of the restaurant. As Tachibana’s love interest, it’s been a little odd that we haven’t seen more of him as a “person”. That said, it looks like outside of the restaurant, he isn’t doing all too much that Kondou would be comfortable talking about to outside a select few. Which is honestly something really interesting to find out since it raises a really interesting question — just why did he stop writing seriously?. Based off of simple logic it wouldn’t be too hard to think that having a kid and subsequently getting a divorce might have something to do with it, but boy would I love to see some more into his past and the decisions he made that led him to the place he is today.
Anyways, another great episode in my opinion that managed to go in a completely different direction than what the previous episode led us to believe. Hopefully, the story continues to throw us off with its creative storytelling and more frequent peeks into Kondou’s past. Anyways, I’ll catch you guys next week. See you then!
Way too much blushing this episode. In certain scenes, it made me think that there are even homosexual tension between the characters.
I really hope Kodo and Akira don’t end up together. Instead, I hope their time together revitalize their true passion, running and writing.
The same could be said about Masami and Chihiro then.
Chihiro is still single and he is a “bishounen”, perhaps he is gay for Masami…
I thought Chihiro was a woman whem I first met him on the manga. I think Akira reaction to Haruka is fear that her friend would judge her about her feelings towards Kondou. Were they speaking Russian at the last scenes? It was so cool! Kondou marriage has possibly ended because he was frustrated on stop writing and having a regular life, specially seeing how successful his friend was on the path he had desire to himself before falling in love. He said that he doesnt even see his wife anymore, just talking over that phone, that is not how a relationship should end if things were healthy.
