「笑っちゃいますね」 (Waracchaimasune)
“It Makes Me Laugh”

Boy did this week’s episode wreak of friendship, rivalry, sweat, and tears.

Modest in Victory, Humble in Defeat

With the battle between two giants finally over, it’s still a bit hard for me to stomach Shutoku’s loss. I know I’ve already talked about how much I wish Shutoku had won with that ferocious team spirit of theirs but if there was one saving grace, it’s definitely how they handled themselves afterwards. Keeping their face clear of tears and their voices strong, I could feel my heart screaming out to console them as they expressed their gratitude and regret to all the people supporting them from the sidelines. Toss in how they started to break down once they finally had some privacy and how can you not want to go and give them a hug?

The Heroes Return!

While I had hoped we’d get a little more basketball and a little less talk, there’s no denying that the feeling you get watching Seirin and Kaijo is completely different than what we just saw. With a sense of rivalry in the air, it’s kind of amazing how even with so much pressure being exerted it still almost feels like a friendly match between buddies. As Kuroko so eloquently put it — everyone’s just plain excited for the game that’s about to go down.

Kise.. dafaq

I’m not sure how I’m supposed to feel about Kise’s new ability to unleash everything he’s learned and experienced. I’ll give it to the show that his ability to almost perfectly imitate others would eventually lead down this path but to see him unleash it at a moment’s notice feels a bit cheap. Maybe it’s because we didn’t really get a clear look at what he could really do with it during his previous match but something about this wreaks of.. something not good.

On the other hand, I can also see how much trouble Kaijo would be in if they let Seirin just stomp all over them during the early game. I mean, how hard is it to stomach when someone like Kuroko manages to blow past your defenses and score the first point?

Looking Forward

With the match I’ve been waiting for finally underway, I can’t help but smile a bit thinking about all the cool things Kuroko and Kagami have prepared to take down the now overpowered Kise. We’ve seen that they realize just how much a problem Kise’s going to be but something about Kuroko’s smile after getting completely shutdown gives me the impression he’s coming up with something.

See you next week!

I guess Kuroko is human, after all. Must be extremely frustrating to have his student (Kise) to pass him by in no time.

Midorima and Takao crying gave me too much feels. I hate seeing guys cry, even in anime. 。・゚゚・(>д<)・゚゚・。

      1. We’ll see a flashback to the Teiko days and some events that Kuroko and the others have mentioned soon enough. Also, isn’t it kinda fitting that a character who others don’t notice wouldn’t get much focus even from the author?

    1. The fact that you he can mix moves of the Generation of Miracles skills at any given time within the 5 minutes is crazy. We’re talking about being able to at one moment go from change of pace into ankle breaker or into a post move. The scary thing is he hasn’t even gone into the zone yet.

    1. I find Kise’s ankle break to be better animated and more realistic than any of Akashi’s. Probably because they don’t need to make them look effortless and God-like compared to Akashi’s.

If you look very closely there on the left front row there’s a double-bun hair girl (I made you look). Anyways the point was I clapped too in support of the team even more from now on.

Hasn’t it been established back in season one that Kise can’t copy Kuroko’s moves? (Hinting his weakness).

Wait why would you hide Kuroko here?

    1. It was also established at that time that Kise couldn’t copy the rest of the GoM’s moves, which is no longer true with his Perfect Copy. The reasons for not being able to copy Kuroko’s moves vs the GoM’s moves differ, but I wouldn’t necessarily assume that point still holds.

Oh yeah, you’re right. I forgot that he couldn’t do that before. I guess in this case, even copying Kuroko may be a possibility.
