“In Order To Win”

They say that too much of a good thing can actually be bad and I think this current arc is getting awfully close to overstaying its welcome.

Yeah, We Get It.

With the Seirin vs Kaijo match constantly going back and forth with both teams getting a chance to take the lead and run with it, what should have been an invigorating episode ended up falling a little flat. Not completely flat like a can of soda you opened and totally forgot about but lackluster enough that it didn’t really give a hard enough kick to get my adrenaline running. I mean, there were some really awesome plays from both sides but none of it seemed all that enthralling (maybe except when Kise busted out Kuroko’s trademark pass).

Maybe it’s because the show is focused on giving all the characters a chance to really strut their stuff (Hyuuga and Teppei being the ones shining under the spotlight this week) but it’s beginning to feel like this arc is staying well passed its welcome. I mean, I’m sure we all knew coming into this that neither team would have an easy time. From the obvious physical strain to the slightly less visible emotional one, I don’t think we needed so many episodes to get the point across that both teams were willing to put everything on the line to capture victory.

That said, what happened this week wasn’t all bad. We got to see Kaijo in a state of panic with Seirin completely trampling over them without their ace to secure the game. That and watching Kise come onto the court ready to destroy whatever was in front of him was pretty inspiring.

Looking Ahead

With everything building up to this point, it looks like next week’s episode is going to finally close things out on this crazy long match. Both sides have unleashed their weapons and are ready and willing to put everything on the line. Seeing how Kaijo’s a bit behind though, it looks like they’ll have to put in a good amount of effort to catch up to Seirin in addition to taking the lead but with Kise in Perfect Copy Mode Mach 2, I’m sure it won’t be too difficult. Which leaves only one final question — what is Seirin going to do about it?

While I’m hoping that answer involves a liberal use of anything Kuroko, I suppose we’ll have to wait until next week to find out.

  1. Well,do understand that this episode covered 4 chapters, but it’ll be worth waiting to see the buzzer beater of thus match, which also leads to a hint of Kuroko’s NEW power.

So I guess it’ll be EP 12 that starts Teiko arc.

      1. Sorry to hear you’re sick. Wishing you a speedy recovery. ✲゚。.(✿╹◡╹)ノ☆.。₀:*゚✲゚*:₀。

Don’t worry, you will be back on your feet in no time. And then you will be wishing you were off your feet again, resting. (●⌒v⌒●)

      2. Get well soon.

And, thanks for being the recapper for KnB. Just became a huge fan early this year that I’m gonna leave a comment or explain a talent every week here.

In fact, I believe you’ll get better when you see Kuroko’s 1st match in Teiko arc. He’s so clumsy, but cute at same time. X)

      1. The way he is mixes all the Generation of Miracles skills together fluidly is amazing. He should copy Kagami’s jump ability as well. I can’t wait to see the conclusion to this match!

    1. Looks like a plain ol’ water gun fight, with Kuroko obviously among the remaining players. I think Hyuuga just wants to take any opportunity to dress up like his Sengoku figures.

    1. Personally, I think it’s unwise of Kise to risk his future basketball career on one freshman match just because he doesn’t want to lose. Fulfilling his role as Kaijo’s ace is important but not important enough that he should risk permanent damage to his foot.

      1. Here’s probably why:
        1. Perfect Copy is an imitation but not as good as the original so it probably wasn’t as strong as Kuroko’s pass.
        2. Based on physics, Ignite Pass Kai loses its spin and velocity over a long distance.
        3. Kobori caught the ball with both hands, not one-handed like Kagami.

    1. That kind of pass isn’t a Misdirection.

I recall that Kiss can’t copy Kuroko’s MISDIRECTION cause not everyone can have a lack of presence like Kuroko, except Show Spoiler ▼

Hence, Ignite Pass KAI, with more speed and ‘light’, will attract attention; thus, Kise can observe it with full attention that he’s able to pull off that lightning pass.

  3. Even though this episode isn’t exciting, where viewers will experience deja vu here…the episode highlights Hyuuga and his teammates are the ones getting revenge due to their promise in playing with Kaijou during Interhigh being broken…

But, at least it’s lovable (and funny) to see Hyuuga and Teppei arguing like elementary kids over petty stuff.

    1. I actually liked this episode a lot more than the last two which focused on Furihata and Kasamatsu who I didn’t care for so much. I’m okey w/them giving Hyuuga and Teppei screen time and nice to see Kise back in the game. Great episode over all.

    1. Give it a try. I’m not into sports anime but KnB is the exception. Just remember that it is shonen and like most anime, suspension of disbelief is a prerequisite to enjoying this show. Have fun.

  6. How come Kagami hasn’t activated the zone yet, surely it would counter Kise’s perfect copy. Whenever Seirin is in a pinch Kagami always activates it so what is stopping him?

    colcon
    1. Like Coach Rico said about Seirin needs the Zone’s maximum power for the finals, which is the next day after this match.
Kagami knows this without being told.

Hence, Seirin needs Kagami’s Zone exactly 100% for the final match.
This will be the last time I’m saying this: Buzzer beaters are hard to beat.
