「幻想哀歌(ムサベツ)の果て」 (Gensou Aika (Musabetsu) no Hate)
“The Extremes of Illusionary Lament (Indiscrimination) “
The melodrama was in full swing, but this has to be easily the best Sora no Otoshimono episode to date. It even topped the emotion-filled climax to the first season when Nymph was freed from her sadistic master, as Ikaros, Nymph, and Astraea had to work together to stop Chaos in her grown up form. Production also looked a step up from the norm, plus the characters’ proportions were better too. Nymph in particular looked a lot better because her head wasn’t a lot larger than her body, as did Ikaros. The battle in the skies on the other hand made it feel like this was the finale — especially with the music involved — and quite honestly it could have been.
I don’t know if Hayami Saori was asked to voice a love sick Ikaros like a “normal” girl, but the change was fairly drastic and unbelievably cute. Ikaros was always cute in that innocent and naive sort of way, but seeing her try to recall memories of Tomoki turned it to that weak, frail, and looking for support kind of cuteness. It’s definitely nice to see Ikaros get some attention in this second one after all the focus on Nymph in the first one.
There still hasn’t been any real mention why Daedalus has entrusted her angeloids to Tomoki, so that’s something I wish they explained in more detail. At the moment, I assume it’s because she believed he could give them normal lives as girls and not weapons or playthings. The lock he received speaks for itself after seeing him attach it to Chaos’ chain at the end, though a small mention of exactly what it does wouldn’t have hurt. i.e. Does it limit an angeloid’s abilities or sever the connection to her master?
Ikaros’ plan may not finished off Chaos, but it was pretty cool to see it play out regardless. I particularly liked the scene with her Artemis Arrows coming from a blind spot behind Nymph, simply because Nymph just stared down Chaos as it happened. Astraea deserves credit for completed the surprise attack, since she showed that even the dumbest angeloid can look pretty cool at times.
It seemed a bit too soon for Astraea to be longing for Tomoki to become her new master, whereas it was a longtime coming in Nymph’s case. I thought we’d be in store for an imprinting scene shortly after to make it official, but the sight of Nymph recovering her wings proved to be even better. Then there was Ikaros’ declaration that their bond with their master is what makes them strong, which was pretty cool to see when she and Nymph switched back to their angeloid attire for the battle. While it was a little cheesy to learn that their powers were renewed by their feelings of love towards Tomoki, I actually didn’t mind the flair for the dramatic to balance out all the goofy humor.
While it’s probably safe to say that Nymph’s newly restored abilities played a major part in helping them defeat Chaos, Ikaros’ Apollon Arrow was something else. Given its destructive power, I didn’t think we’d ever get to see it used. Granted, it never occurred to me that Ikaros could deploy her Aegis to contain the blast like she did here. I’m still amazed that Chaos was able to survive the attack in one piece, though I figure the sight of a mangled up angeloid (aside from their wings) isn’t something this series cares to portray. The ending itself leaves me wondering if all angeloids that are sent to kill Tomoki will eventually side with him. From the onset, Chaos looked so psychotic that I couldn’t imagine her coming around and being “saved” from her sadistic master. However, now that Tomoki’s shown her some sympathy, it almost looks like it’s a guaranteed thing. The finale next time will likely expand on what happens with Chaos from hereon, so I’ll be looking forward to seeing whether Tomoki will be getting a fourth angeloid.

been a while since this one got such a good episode 🙂
1: Mikako becoming the master of any of the angeloids would be bad. A sociopath used to getting what they want all the time? They might as well go back to their master from Synapse.
2: Zeebus Synapse must be getting terrified of the Angeloid Army that Tomoki is building…
ps: awesome episode
I agree about Mikako. Any of the regulars would be a decent master for Astrea EXCEPT for Mikako as she is a barely controlled psycho.
I think Mikako rather will become a poker-playing friend as Tomoki declared himself to be the angeloids master in an epic pimp statement that he wants to be with all of them…
That one on the left needs to go on a diet. Ikaros, was it? D: That shot looks badass though.
I kinda just wanna watch this episode and forget about the rest. lol Looks mad intense!
Yeah Ikaros has been eating too much. Fats for women tend to go to the thighs and to the belly for men. Good to see that at least the team’s keeping it realistic :p
Nymph has massive thighs in that shot as well. Either someone forgot about anatomy 101, or someone is a massive fan of huge thighs.
It’s not being realistic it’s just a poor job with the lower half of the body, I bet you 100% that’ll get changed in the BD version later, no question about it. Angeloids aren’t human to begin with so they don’t gain fat etc.
Agreed with GP on this one. I think it may have been a mistake more than anything and might be corrected with the BR release.
one one more ep… really can’t get enough of this series. thanks for the screens
Uihara get!
Great episode and I agree that it felt like a finale episode, though the final episode of season one with Nymph being safed felt more dramatic to me.
Nymph getting back her wings could have been portrayed better, instead of in the middle of a fight.
https://randomc.net/image/Sora%20no%20Otoshimono/Sora%20no%20Otoshimono%20Forte%20-%2011%20-%20Snapshot%2014.jpg Damn, Ikaros has some mighty meaty thights. 😀
Damn, I meant UiharU.
And I honestly expected the Synpase master to kill her off by using some remote device. But it looks like she survived. At least for now.
Nice tights observation. I’m starting to think that Ikaros is chubby. @_@
lol noticed the thighs too, made me think of dragonball Z when they get all “power weighted”
“Power Weighted” indeed. Too much watermelon for Ikaros. Too much chips for Nymph. Too much fridge raiding for Astrea.
AHAHAHAHA!!! u beat me to it!! SHORTY IS THICK!!!!!!!………”Uranus mode must be code for: stripper from A.T.L transformation!!”
Great episode, Nice too see astrea with her upgraded shield and sword, Nymph grow her wings and control artemis but i wanna see ikaros restore her uranus system soo bad… >_<
Ps : Downpour are awesome
It was a good ep….
But It kinda feel strange because I m loyal to the manga.
I dropped this fanservice anime 1rst season. You should have blogged katanagatari!
Why are you posting here? Trolls will be trolls..
katanagatari is for fans of “BLAH BLAH BLAH” & cheap animation. longest death scene EVER…FAILTASTIC!!!!= it’s crap. too bad everybody didn’t die at the end
I love how a troll gets a reply from another troll bashing the show he/she brings up. Nothing wrong with Katanagatari even with the long talking, I guess you have ADD like most anime fans who just want the next quick pew pew filled sequence without any real substance behind it.
If most anime can do an original plot like this, I’ll be incredibly happy.
The only issue I had was how Nymph getting back her wings seemed anti-climatic compared to the manga and I don’t think they needed the couple of transition scenes before Astrea threw Chaos into the ground.
Everything else was amazing and well done.

I agree, it’s well done. No more, no less. Haters will always hate. Good foreshadowing for the manga too. Show Spoiler ▼
At frist I thought the anime went off on it’s own original bit with chaos again but having seen the newest manga chapter it seems the studio got some inside info from the mangaka and this isn’t as anime original as it seems for now anyways.
Also about that spoiler, if it turns out true then forget about it, game over, Tomoki’s team can’t be stopped then.
Just like Sekirei. Show Spoiler ▼
Which caused me to stop at episode 9 of Sekirei. Will finish it sometime this month.
Aw man, wish I’d find such a cute angeloid in my fridge one day. Tomoki’s such a lucky boi for having 3, maybe 4 if Chaos decides to join the party, and she needs to change the black nun clothes to a white one, so we have index-angeloid. Weeeeeeeeeee!
I still don’t understand why they deviated so much from the source material. We had a perfect story arc to end this season with, but instead we got a truncated fight with Chaos.
Probably for the same reason the original FMA deviated so much from the manga, not enough episodes left and there probably won’t be a third season, so they have to conclude it as fast and as cleanly as they can.
Go hardened Shields! ahem… I mean aegis XD stupid SC2
Will we finally see Astrea in civilian clothes?
so…. can someone tell me if its possible for TOmoki to end up with any of the angeloids or is that too far out of a possiblilty?
Certainly an epic episode. I’m amazed that this has been every bit as good and sometimes surpassed the first season. One of the top 10 of the year…maybe top 5. This show along with Kuragehime and Soredemo have been my salvation this season. Fan service done right!

That’s a pretty good look that Ikaros has going there.

This scene needs some tentacles to be complete. 😛
Good episode, but I feel the latter part of this season was a missed opportunity.

Awesome battle, but I dont want to crazy nun loli angeloid to join Tomoki´s rank… O.o we have enough loli dose with the lovely Nymph! =)
loli means underage. are you a pedo?
Uncalled for
Sorry King Dragun, i’m a pedo and i was just looking for people like me. I’m lonely and my best friend Mr Ant just died. No one else wants to be my friend 🙁
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
I’m ok with the original plot, but…uh, seems that we won’t have a season 3
Worst episode ever. They rushed the episodes instead of following the original manga. And to the worst scenario they started using the worst cliche lines ever.
“it never occurred to me that Ikaros could deploy her Aegis to contain the blast like she did here”
Actually in season 1, Ikaros threatened to do the same to Nymph after Nymph released Ikaros’s memories during the gun fight festival episode.
Oh…wow….I wonder if the manga will turn out like this. o_o
Chaos Punch fails.
She should have master Fal…ah nvm.
Is the current episode material in the manga?
No. The anime started to deviate several episodes ago.
I didn’t think you’d like this episode. It felt pretty strange, to me.
A lot of it was rushed and they didn’t have time to make Chaos use her stronger attacks, so they just had her constrict everyone the entire time.
Plus, Nymph getting Tomoki for a master was very anti-climactic and forgot all about the imprinting procedure they have to go through.
The strange pacing was very apparent right from the beginning of the episode, where the music switched right from lighthearted to dramatic after Tomoki’s casual mentioning of Nymph’s need for a new master.
They never explained what exactly that lock thing that Tomoki recieved from Dadaelus was.
Plus, they forgot all about Ikaros purging memories of Tomoki after the they started fighting Chaos.
I wonder what will be the new personality of Chaos. Like nymph who was a little psychotic turned it something
Sadistic like Mikako I guess?
Argh! They skipped an arch and jumped to right where the manga was. I was kinda hopping we’d get the Hiyori arc, but i guess this is ok too.
Though now the question is: will there be a third season, or will things end next week?
Hiyori deserves an arc of her own so I also wish to see a third season.
I think the main strength about Astraea, especially in the manga, is that she’s independent enough to not need a Master. Which, is what Tomoki wanted all of his angeloids to understand, you don’t need a Master giving you orders to be happy. The anime kind of fudged that up.
great ep! tight animation on action sequences, and nice simple emotion at end song….which voice actors are singing it btw??
final ep will probably like an epilogue for the series with harem, comedy, ecchi and a bit of heartwarming drama probably.
this ep was really one of the best ive seen in sora no oto, nymph using a large hacking field was awesome.
Extremely rushed and corny. It wasn’t terrible as an anime original, but as a manga reader, I can’t say I’m not severely disappointed(They ruined Nymph’s rebirth no less……).
I feel like watching Kuroneko vs Kirino from Ore imo…
@ up – I mean fans bickering here.
Tropes invoked this episode:
– All our powers combined
– power of love, er, pimpness
– defeat means friendship
In fact I was amazed by the power of “combined arms angeloids”, with Astrea as the tank, Ikaros as artillery and Nymph as C3I force multiplifier.
Tomoki getting epic moment of pimpness (I want to be with all of you!) and Nymph getting her wings back was epic/heartwarming to the point of almost too much. Almost.
But what did really surprise me was that Chaos after defeat would show that she was looking for love all along. Few soothing words and pat on the head = captured Chaos.
Worst episode of the season for me. They saved Nymph’s scene for this episode where it got completely wasted from lack of emotional impact. The dialogue was WAY too cheesy and AIC just proved to me this episode they can’t write fillers. This episode is going to leave a sour taste in my mouth for what I have to remember of the series. Hopefully this doesn’t lead to an anime original movie which I’m hoping will use THAT story, which manga readers should easily be able to identify. :/
Angeloids DO get fat…until the next scene(remember when Astraea and Nymph ate all of Ikaros’ watermelons?)!
I liked how all the characters of got involved in the battle somehow, even Sohara with the dive game. I think Ikaros may have lost a bit of her memories, which sucks, so its up to the rest of the gang to help her remember.
It seems like even at maximum output from Nymph’s hacking, Chaos can still take all of them out one on one! The way Nymph got back her wings was almost too heartwarming given that Chaos was about to cut them to pieces. Chaos took an Apollon arrow to the face, and Ikaros solved the collateral damage (with the help of Nymph’s rewriting) problem by enclosing her in the aegis shield. Still, Chaos can take a beating more than the other three angeloids combined! Astraea shows compassion for Chaos even after she cut both Chaos’ wings; man, that idiot’s so lovable! The music that plays throughout the episode was awesome!
I wonder if Chaos is gonna go to school with them now that she looks older than Nymph? Plus, she can keep evolving? Maybe she’ll learn to laugh and become a pervert too! Also, that lock Daedalus gave to Tomoki seems to release her chain to the Master of the Sky. So now Tomoki has a chain on his right hand for Ikaros, a chain for his left hand for Nymph, but where can Astraea’s chain wrap around for Tomoki? Heh heh heh.
It seems like the Uranus system is still intact in the Japan trench; maybe Chaos can swim down there and pick it up for Ikaros!
The Pervert King, Tomoki, is now with 4 angeloids in his army! The Master of the Sky’s gotta feel a little nervous!
From a manga perspective, hated this episode (the latest manga chapter is EPIC btw, rereaded it four times). From an anime only perspective I disliked it, the story felt rushed and I felt the productions values actually went down. Proportions quickly started looking weird, the color in the faces started looking flat and misshapen. The dialogue… very cheesy, Nymoh getting her wings back was but a minor tick list in this crammed episode. Hopefully there is a season 3, since THAT arc is finished maybe they’ll be able to do it right.
I liked this episode.
– The Weapons conbined system of angeroids, very cool!
– Nymph regained his wings, I liked the manga version.
– Astraea called Mikako “master”, when this happened?
No, Mikako isn’t her Master. She’s her teacher.
Astraea neither used “Goshujin-sama” nor the english “Master”. She used Shishu (sp?) which AFAIK is used by disciples.
Yeah I was about to reply. I think she’s more like her “teacher” not master.
I’m getting tired reading comments on how manga readers gets disappointed at almost every anime adaptations, do this readers even get it? I thought it was already a given that “most of the time” the manga is superior to the anime adaptation. I don’t think they have to reiterate this thought over and over again, and each every episode.
As for this episode, yeah it feels almost like the finale, and they still have tons to explain, for a show of this caliber I wouldn’t mind getting a season 3. I hope Chaos would finally feel what true love is, I just feel sorry for her.
If I’m not mistaken, Ikaros threatened Nymph with the Apollon arrow in the first season, and when Nymph pointed out that would destroy half of Japan, Ikaros calmly stated that she would use Aegis to contain the explosion. So that move she pulled on Chaos shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise 🙂
hmm, Taiakun already pointed that out..
I have mixed feelings about this episode. While it was awesome on the fighting side of things, there were stuff that just didn’t sit right. When I read in the comments that this was an anime original, I went “ahh, figures…”
First of all, Ikaros losing her memories really had very little affect on anything. Second, the grown up Chaos seemed, if anything, weaker then loli Chaos. And what about her delusional powers? it’s in the title of the episode, an yet I don’t recall anyone going delusional like they did when Chaos first appeared as a child. Third, the way Nymph got her wings back just didn’t make any sense. As for the cheesiness some complained about with the dialogs, it didn’t seem that much cornier than the usual ‘angeloids deserve to play in the sun and eat ice cream and stuff’ preaching Tomoki tends to spew in such occasions (where he seems much more like Touma then the master pervert we all love and appreciate).
I feel kinda cheated, in a way. although I did enjoy the episode, it left me with some serious doubts about the coherency of the plot. I hope the final episode will give us some reassurance.
From reading the manga, you’d probably feel cheated even more,(I liked the anime version better, it was more dramatic) with how Nymph got her wings back. The way Astraea replied was true to her character(Idiot!). It seemed Chaos only used her delusional powers to taunt Tomoki and invade his dreams; she went the brute force route of showing her “love” when fighting the other angeloids. Also I thought when loli Chaos was fighting one-on-one with Astraea, then Ikaros, she was at full power, but when they fought adult Chaos, they fought as a team with Nymph attacking indirectly with her hacking to weaken Chaos. Otherwise Chaos would’ve been able to rain black fireballs everywhere and use her death cannon again.
About Tomoki preaching the angeloids should be free to be happy and dream, seems to be the point of the entire series centered around angeloids that were created to be weapons of war. You gotta take the corny with the Tomoki Tower, I guess. Still, I’m curious how this last episode will end; the Master of the Sky must be pissed at the way things turned out.
I need to see a season 3 RIGHT NAO
I second this motion. Any more votes? lol
Ikaros has always and will always be my favorite Angeloid. As pointed by D, seeing her being completely defenseless at the start of the episode made me feel bad (I can’t think of a better word this morning). I admit to have developped a strong fondness for Nymph and Astraea but for me, this show is all about Ikaros. If only I could be Tomoki lol…
My usual policy is to read the manga only after I’ve seen the climax of the anime IF the anime is what I started with first. I’ll do that here and compare but, I thought it was good.
Seriously guys, why the comparisons with the Manga? All the comparing will do is hamper your enjoyment of the show…
