「消しゴムはんこ」 (Keshigomu Hannko)
“Eraser Stamp”
While I do love all the antics that Yokoi and Seki-kun get themselves into, sometimes its tough to get through some of the less funnier ones. Which is why even though this week’s gag wasn’t terribly funny, the introduction of a random third character shook things up a bit (in a good way). Not only did it change up the pattern we’re used to seeing but when that random side character is as dense as a rock, you can’t help but laugh as Seki-kun struggles to deal with him.
Is that.. a new character?!
Even though I wouldn’t consider Uzawa anything more than one of those “one-shot” characters, his sudden appearance did shake the story up a bit. Because instead of getting the usual Yokoi vs Seki-kun battle we’re all used to seeing, things felt a bit different with someone else (Uzawa in this case) controlling the pacing. That and, who doesn’t love to see Seki-kun get into a sticky situation every now and then?
That said, you really have to question just how dense Uzawa is. Even after noticing the chisel in Seki-kun’s pencil case, I don’t know if you’re supposed to praise him or hate on him for not noticing what Seki-kun was doing. I mean, who doesn’t notice someone messing around with a chisel during science class? All I know for sure, is that I remember doing crazy things to my erasers and if I had created a masterpiece like Seki-kun did, I would have probably killed Uzawa for ruining it.
Seki-kun and Yokoi, Redux
Sometimes, I wonder what it would be like if Seki-kun and Yokoi could work together against some mutual enemy. Be it another random student or maybe a teacher, can you imagine what kind of antics would follow? Seki-kun creating something out-of-this-world story with Yokoi narrating it — it would be the perfect combination! And after watching week’s episode, I don’t think you’d have to look that far to find someone who both of them could rally against.
Looking toward the Future
With an established pattern that never fails to make me laugh while still being able to change things up when needed, I can’t wait to see what other surprises are in store for us down the road.
P.S. This week’s Seitokai will be a little late — probably will be released when you can get it at your usual places. The reason is because I injured my back over the weekend and these muscle relaxant pills make it tough to focus on anything for more than a few minutes. Anyways, thank you for your patience and see you guys later!
Uzawa’s constant invasion of private space ticked me off so I still felt sorry for Seki-kun, even if it was slacking off in class. Also,Show Spoiler ▼
I never get tired of Yokoi’s reactions! For me it’s one of this series’ pillars.
Agreed. I’m addicted to Kana’s voice as Yokoi (and, ofc, to the show itself as well) as much as I’m engrossed over this -> http://nyanpass.com/
Uzawa’s name comes from the Japanese term “Uzai” or precisely “Uzattai” which means “annoying”.
Opps yeah.
The name Uzawa comes from a Japanese word “uzai” which means annoying or irritating.
While it was all entertaining… I sincerely hope that this is the last we will see of Uzawa.
welp… a double down for this week.
current score (just because):
Seki – 4, Yokoi – 3, Uzawa – 1
Yokoi is really like a announcer & Seki is like a player.
This has been a lot of fun so far. I can’t wait for the braid girl to show up.
Why do I feel that the last episode of this anime would be a tonari no seki confession scene.
