As glad as I am that there wasn’t an OP (it’s ALI PROJECT) for the first episode, I didn’t think much of the ED here either. It’s a voice actress group song, and I’ve never been a huge fan of those.

-Well, if this entire episode had been like the first half (where not much happened and we’re briefly introduced to some of the cast), then I would have said that this was off to a pretty slow start and would have had a “meh” attitude towards the series. It didn’t show anything particularly exciting or that it had good potential. However, if there was one semi-redeeming part of this show, it’s that Fukuyama Jun uses his Zero/Lelouch as Leopard’s AI, and he manages to be pretty amusing with his antics. That made the second half better, but that’s about it. I didn’t think the mecha aspect was that good (granted, there wasn’t any real fighting), and it’s hard to say much of anything about the story at this point. I’m leaning towards just sticking with SOUL EATER for Mondays, though I’ll (probaby) watch one more episode of this to see if it gets any better.

  1. Hmmmmm… I haven’t seen it…. Waiting for the subbed version… But it doesn’t look like a serious mecha… And I’m not sure how non-serious mechas series tend to go down with the viewers since mechas pretty much all about the uber mecha fight animations.

  3. @Story: Ahem…typical Hime team thank you. I’d think anybody would be hard pressed to compare this to say Votoms:Pailsen Files or Gundam 00. Comparing it to Mai-Hime or iDOLM@STER Xenoglossia on the other hand, much easier. You’d think people would have realized by now that they’re a big company and have lots of different teams with different theories of how to produce successful anime but I guess not. If you ask me though the Hime team has consistently been the weakest link within the whole Hajime Yatate group in terms of originality and creativity and this latest project of theirs doesn’t seem poised to change that status any time soon. If the formula follows then expect this to be all wacky antics for the first half followed by a mid series change in tone for the second half that see’s the cast trying to massacre one another. Yawn…..

Truthfully I’m kind of hoping this series fails to meet with any major success so that the Hime team will get disbanded or at the very least lose favour with the executive suits. That way the funding for their would be future projects could instead go to other better ideas from the other teams. Unfortunately I have this sinking feeling that they’re going to manage to pull this one off and continue the companies seemingly endless run of popular and profitable series.

  4. The “you must be tired” joke cracked me up. The “highway in outer space” scene was spectacular. Besides a couple cheap laughs and beautiful background, I don’t see any other noteworthy point about this anime.

I like this formula. Worked for me in Xenoglossia, and it might work for me here.
