Macross F Galaxy Tour FINAL in Budokan – Part 2

Ranka Lee starring Nakajima Megumi.

Part 2 of god knows how many I’ll need to cover this Galaxy Tour concert. Continuing from the two marathon-like performances in Part 1, Megumi takes the stage alone to perform six more songs. She did get a bit of a break in the middle with the character skit and “Chou Jikuu Hanten Nyan Nyan” CM commercial song I mentioned before, but her “singing endurance” is still pretty amazing. I couldn’t help but wonder why they decided to sit May’n for so long, but she did show up for the Ranka version of “Iteza Gogo Kuji Don’t be late” before taking over the stage for the next couple of songs. In any case, part 2 is all Ranka Lee. Enjoy~

“Ninji-n Loves you yeah!”

“Anata no Oto”

“Watashi no Kare wa Pilot”

Nyan Nyan with Nakamura “Alto” Yuuichi, Kamiya “Mikhail” Hiroshi, and Miyake “Bobby” Kenta.

“Neko Nikki”

“Seiken Hikou”

“Iteza Gogo Kuji Don’t be late” duet.

They really are good singers live. Thanks for posting this! :)

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:27 pmoutcast

it’s because may’n really sux live.

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:29 pmholy_

    Nice Megumi/Ranka video =p

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:35 pmdivine

While I think they’re both really good live singers as well, my cynical side still believes there’s some post-process auto-tuning happening for the DVD/Blu-ray releases.

It’s only natural to polish the finished product, especially when they had a year to do so. However, I’m willing to bet that they didn’t need to fix May’n and Megumi’s pitch too much given their past live performances.

what about “Ai oboete imasu ka”?

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:36 pmFreya

She looks a lot prettier than before.

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:42 pmdivine

I’ll get to it eventually, so just sit tight for now. =)

I’ve been posting in order of the performances.

    Ranka Lee > Sheryl Nome

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:56 pmpierce

May’n is better. Just watch “Lion” and you will see why.

  • October 25, 2009 at 10:56 pmkyle

May’n wins over Megumi 9000 times.

  • October 25, 2009 at 11:37 pmsealouse

Agreed I think May’n is best, but Megumi is certainly up there.

  • October 25, 2009 at 11:38 pmCherubium

who cares who’s a better sing. They can sing and well.

  • October 25, 2009 at 11:43 pmSugoi

It would be so cool if japan had the technology to make the same stage affects as macross frontier.

  • October 25, 2009 at 11:49 pmfragbet

Ranka vs. Sheryl is pretty silly since both Megumi and May’n are great singers. Ranka and Sheryl duets however are godly.

Can’t we all just stop arguing and agree that when they sing together they bring the house down?

Both have amazing vocals and stage presence, though my inner bias of soothing > high-energy vocals makes me a bit more of a Megumi Nakajima fan. I watched through the entire thing and I didn’t regret it for a single moment~

I was also really surprised at how well Megumi’s vocals held up even though it was obvious that she was working up quite a sweat over so many songs right after the super-medley. Ahahaha~ I especially love the new verse in “Ninji-n Loves you yeah!” about Budokan, it really makes you think about how far these two have made it~ <3

Didn’t realize there was that many avid MF fans.

  • October 26, 2009 at 12:44 amomm

Very much appreciate you uploading these clips! These are awesome!

RANKA FTW!!!!!! so good!!! it is nice to listen her talking. is it me or is her “Neko Nikki” is a lot more staccatoed compared to the one on the macross sound tracks?

  • October 26, 2009 at 1:20 amDendoh_fanboy

I hope there are Fire Bomber songs soon.

  • October 26, 2009 at 1:36 aminfo600

the “don’t be late” duet was rather surprising, since I’ve got no idea where May’n was singing from till she popped up.
And then there’s Neko Nikki, its somehow more popular with the crowd (ya I’m biased)…

  • October 26, 2009 at 2:00 amMearex

aw man, why do so much Japaneses singer look like their in their 30s… or maybe they are?

  • October 26, 2009 at 2:09 ammegalith

There voices really back each other up. They should really sing together more often. XD

  • October 26, 2009 at 2:24 amsilvie

well may’n anchors the rest of the concert… and her stage presence is electric. megumi is great, but she pales when put side-by-side with may’n…

  • October 26, 2009 at 2:38 amKT

It’s hard to compare the two and say that one is better than the other (I guess it depends on an individual’s preferences) I personally think May’n’s voice is stronger than Megumi’s, however Megumi has this wonderful pure voice (and please remember she wasn’t a singer to begin with, unlike May’n)
Anywayz I can’t wait till Divine upload’s Aimo (Megumi was amazing in that one!)

  • October 26, 2009 at 5:39 amoutcast

it’s not about ranka vs nome. It’s just when i listened to the first stuff i found sherryl’s voice really shaky and stuttery.

  • October 26, 2009 at 8:23 amEx14

to be completely honest. Ranka’s singer was IMHO disappointing. she sounded not at all like the recordings/CD. mmay’n on the other hand was great.

still i enjoyed the entire performance. 10 fingers up (is there a expression like that? O.o?)

  • October 26, 2009 at 8:29 amjustam

oooh, would anyone be able to give a vague summary of what the skit was about? =D language barrier =’(

  • October 26, 2009 at 9:51 amKomidol

This Budokan needs more moe light music bands.

  • October 26, 2009 at 11:24 amkitty

  • October 26, 2009 at 12:54 pmdivine

Yeah, I thought that was pretty odd as well. It’s almost as if they had some technical problems with May’n popping up right when she started singing.

May’n and Megumi are both only 20 years old. :\

K-ON concert at Budokan? Somehow, I don’t see them selling out to over 14,000 people, but I would like to be proven wrong.

  • October 26, 2009 at 2:43 pmJacksmom

I don’t care how many times I hear Seiken Hikou, It always makes me want to get up an dance around. Then immediately check if anyone can see me being an idiot.

  • October 26, 2009 at 3:40 pmTenshi

  • October 26, 2009 at 3:41 pmTenshi

  • October 27, 2009 at 1:12 pmWingZeroZXT

Wow When you see this awesomeness and you remember how badly the series ended it kinda makes you realise that Macross no longer has to be top quality a show because ‘this’ is what it was made for!!

  • November 10, 2009 at 3:11 amSwa

Megumi sounded more consistent with the studio recordings. May’n cracked way too much for my liking.
