Ranka Lee starring Nakajima Megumi.

Part 2 of god knows how many I’ll need to cover this Galaxy Tour concert. Continuing from the two marathon-like performances in Part 1, Megumi takes the stage alone to perform six more songs. She did get a bit of a break in the middle with the character skit and “Chou Jikuu Hanten Nyan Nyan” CM commercial song I mentioned before, but her “singing endurance” is still pretty amazing. I couldn’t help but wonder why they decided to sit May’n for so long, but she did show up for the Ranka version of “Iteza Gogo Kuji Don’t be late” before taking over the stage for the next couple of songs. In any case, part 2 is all Ranka Lee. Enjoy~

  1. While I think they’re both really good live singers as well, my cynical side still believes there’s some post-process auto-tuning happening for the DVD/Blu-ray releases.

It’s only natural to polish the finished product, especially when they had a year to do so. However, I’m willing to bet that they didn’t need to fix May’n and Megumi’s pitch too much given their past live performances.

  2. Ranka vs. Sheryl is pretty silly since both Megumi and May’n are great singers. Ranka and Sheryl duets however are godly.

Can’t we all just stop arguing and agree that when they sing together they bring the house down?

  3. Both have amazing vocals and stage presence, though my inner bias of soothing > high-energy vocals makes me a bit more of a Megumi Nakajima fan. I watched through the entire thing and I didn’t regret it for a single moment~

I was also really surprised at how well Megumi’s vocals held up even though it was obvious that she was working up quite a sweat over so many songs right after the super-medley. Ahahaha~ I especially love the new verse in “Ninji-n Loves you yeah!” about Budokan, it really makes you think about how far these two have made it~ <3

  4. the “don’t be late” duet was rather surprising, since I’ve got no idea where May’n was singing from till she popped up.
And then there’s Neko Nikki, its somehow more popular with the crowd (ya I’m biased)…

  5. It’s hard to compare the two and say that one is better than the other (I guess it depends on an individual’s preferences) I personally think May’n’s voice is stronger than Megumi’s, however Megumi has this wonderful pure voice (and please remember she wasn’t a singer to begin with, unlike May’n)
Anywayz I can’t wait till Divine upload’s Aimo (Megumi was amazing in that one!)

  6. to be completely honest. Ranka’s singer was IMHO disappointing. she sounded not at all like the recordings/CD. mmay’n on the other hand was great.

still i enjoyed the entire performance. 10 fingers up (is there a expression like that? O.o?)

  7. info600:
Yeah, I thought that was pretty odd as well. It’s almost as if they had some technical problems with May’n popping up right when she started singing.

    Mearex:
May’n and Megumi are both only 20 years old. :\

    Komidol:
K-ON concert at Budokan? Somehow, I don’t see them selling out to over 14,000 people, but I would like to be proven wrong.

  8. Wow When you see this awesomeness and you remember how badly the series ended it kinda makes you realise that Macross no longer has to be top quality a show because ‘this’ is what it was made for!!
