The return of Tsukasa’s phone – this time maybe she’ll have some more ‘jealousy power” with her Tamama strap – or not, as the phone promptly goes KER-PLOP after falling from her shirt pocket. Don’t you hate it when that happens? Them pockets need a flap or somethin…

Remember your first few text messages? It took forever to find the key, then hit it a couple times to scroll to the right letter, and half the time you overshot it? Oh Tsukasa.

Then, once you got the hang of it, decided to stop calling altogether and just couldn’t stop texting? Oh Tsukasa.

Konata visits her local manga shop and is met with some…passionate store clerks. Shady figures who seem out of place, and yet so very appropriate.

The sisters pay a visit to Konata’s house. After a “warm welcome” from Konadad, we’re treated to several telling images of Konata’s room. The figures on her tower. The Haruhi poster on the wall (personally, I thought the wedding dress poster was nicer, but I guess the bunny girl one is more ero), and the uh… ecchi manga stacks on her bed. And the Mikuru waitress figure (purchase it here!)

Onwards, Konata makes curry (what else) for dinner. Konadad is moved to tears because he finally has his ideal galge situation…dinner with three high school girls. And maybe some drinks and karaoke afterwards. Breakfast…maybe.

After dinner and a short walk outdoors, KyoAni leaves us hanging with no bath scene, and the three (where’s Miyuki all these times…) start their typical sleepover festivities. First they check out Konata’s photo albums, including a picture of Mom and Dad, which actually looks more like 12 year old loli and Dad. This works out well on many levels.

Tsukasa wonders how Miyuki’s doing (too bad she couldn’t make it!) so pulls out her cell and deftly punches in a message. The reply? “Sounds like you’re having a lot of fun! I’m here doing my best on my homework…”

The same homework everyone else forgot to do 🙁 Usually this is where the episode ends, but we still have another two minutes or so before Lucky Channel comes up, so what’s left?

Ooh, talk about nicknames. Miyuki is Yuki-chan. Konata is Kona-chan. How about Tsukasa and Kagami? Tsu-chan? Kaga-chan? Tsukasa suggests Kyo-chan for Kagami, considering the kanji for her name can also be read that way. Naturally, Konata is quick to butcher it, so Tsukasa suggests Hii-chan for herself. “Indeed, Tsukasa is a hee hee type of person eh,” Konata replies instantly (nyuk nyuk nyuk)

On to Kagami – what kind of nickname does she prefer? “How about Master Kagami,” our resident tsundere snickers. Has Kagami won this battle? Nevar!

Lucky Channel part 10 – time to introduce Kagami. Shiraishi sports a new, slicker hairstyle and a much more serious attitude, as if to usurp Akira-sama’s indomitable presence. Naw, ain’t happenin. Money says that by episode 15 or so, Sebastian gets replaced by Kunikida for a few eps, but he turns out to be so ideally… dull… that Shiraishi claws his way back in.

Kagami sings this week’s karaoke – except not really, cuz they’re talking for half the time she’s singing, haha. The song is Kahala Tomomi‘s I’m proud.

Did I ever mention I really like this show? Granted that I also like watching some of the other shows this season (not overdrive), Lucky Star remains the one I go back and rewatch when I don’t feel like doing anything. Of course, “anything” includes my 5 episode backlog of idolmaster, 7 of lovely complex, 6 of sola, 5 of dtb, and uh, my master’s thesis… and i just caught up with heroic age yesterday (DNAra-sama looks nice in normal clothes). Point being, Lucky Star is probably my runaway favorite show of the season. And it’s episodes like these that make me feel that way. I even have “ai mai san senchi” Konata as my cell phone wallpaper now… sheesh.

expect delay next week as my ~18 hour trip back to SF starts roughly the same time i wake up to write this summary. well, maybe if narita has free wireless i can make something happen while i wait for my transfer…

  1. Awsome, Sekiman (er.. Tomokazu Seki) had a cameo voice as (I guess) a parody character he may have voiced in the past. And Minoru Shiraishi, man, he stole Lucky Channel this time around… due to his knowledge of tsunderes… lol

  2. One word: Hilarious!
Ah, Konatas mother is cute..^^ But they look so similar, honto..
I’d love to see both of them together *-* Or is she dead?:( Don’t want to start speculations here but I haven’t seen here anywhere until now (or did I miss something??).

  3. In on of previous episodes Konata said, that her mother died soon after her birth 🙁
And later she went on speaking about why is she so good at houshold chores and stuff. I guess it was at the episode 3 or 4, but I’m not sure really..

  5. that was one crazy episode. that “wild scene” was really crazy.

-im slightly “relieved” that izumi’s dad didnt see miyuki, because he ll probably go berserk if he does, lol (slight chuckle at how konata told her dad that tsukasa + kagami are miko/priestesses at their family’s temple so they will spark his interest >.>;)

-interesting scene where konata experiments with “kyou-chan” as kagami’s nickname (while the kanji slowly switches on-screen from “mirror”/kagami to “strong”/kyou to “kyou” found in the japanese words “violent” and “misfortune” xD)

-konata jestingly calls kagami “kagami sama!”

-after his heated talk on tsundere and overall takeover on the lucky channel segment, akira threatens to “talk” to minoru’s manager and staff about his future in show-biz. lolol.

  6. I’m actually disappointed by the SHnY references… they don’t *need* them for the show to be a winner. I like SHnY (I’m buying the series after all) but small fail for blatant insertion rather than a bit better integration. It feels a bit like Samwise reaching for a bag of McNuggets…

  7. God i wish i had that Haruhi poster…..
    And that Mikuru Figurine…..

    Konata’s mom was a hotty….
Tsukasa has learned how to text! But at the price of the phone bill!

    Man i love this show!!!

  8. Haha, I never though I’d see the day Anime Tenchou was animated like this. Good call. I’ll download this episode just for this!

PS: Are they pimping Animate? XD Oh shi- yes. I see the gold point card I have!

  9. Though I find the product inserts a bit annoying, the rest of the show appears to be major win (Kagami neck and shoulders… mmmm; Kona-mom; Tsukasa and cellphone goodness; and Kona-dad).

Well, in the end it always depends on how much of the shows you know. For me there are easily 60-70% I have never heard of lol.
I’m an Otaku with visual novels, but not anime ~nyahh

Yeah they do Vexx, come on everybody knows Haruhi automatically makes everything better.

Also this just in http://forums.animesuki.com/showpost.php?p=991261&postcount=49 . Damn, that good eh. Well everybody might as well just pack up and let Kyoto Animation handle all anime from now on, because if this is the BEST episode of ANY anime ever created in history, there’s no point in even trying to compete anymore with any type of story. Never mind the fact the episode wouldn’t even exist without other anime, manga and games to build itself off of. Silly thing to say.

I honestly think best episode of Lucky Star might have sufficed, even if I don’t agree that it was (That would be episode 6).
