「襲撃」 (Shuugeki)

Shortly after arriving, Raimei and the others find out that Fuuma village is under attack by the Kairoushuu. It turns out their target this time is the village’s kinjutsu (禁術), i.e. forbidden technique. Despite the village ninjas’ best efforts and the sudden arrival of Thobari et al., the kinjutsu scroll easily falls into the hands of Yukimi Kazuhiko when the Kairoushuu’s “monster” ninja, Yoite, steps in and unleashes a technique that attacks his opponent from within. To make matters worse, Yoite also points out to Kazuhiko that the Shinrabanshou is here. Realizing how powerful their enemies are and that Fuuma Kotarou doesn’t seem to be around, Thobari tells the others to escape while he tries to buy them some time.

As Miharu, Raimei, and Kouichi make a break for it, they are able to recover the scroll at the same time with the help of Miharu’s “girly smile techinique“. In the meantime, Thobari has his hands full with Yoite and can barely repel his technique, so the other Kairoushuu ninjas give chase. Raimei, taking notice to their pursuers, tells Miharu and Kouichi to keep going while she stays behind to dispatch some of the enemy ninjas. Raimei eventually catches up to them again though and Kazuhiko, realizing the mission didn’t quite go according to plan, backs off since it’s against his personal policy to continue under these circumstances.

Miharu and the others then meet up with Thobari again, who is still fighting with Yoite. Thobari tells the others to not get close though, since his opponent is using a forbidden technique known as “Kira” (気羅). While Thobari tries to understand the technique in an attempt to get the upper hand, he finds himself caught in it. Yoite then proceeds to take out Kouichi and Raimei as well. In a last ditch effort to protect Miharu, Thobari steps in again and is almost killed, when suddenly Kotarou arrives in the form of a giant cat (o_O?) and swipes Yoite away.

「任務言渡」 (Ninmu Iiwatashi)
“Mission Orders”

There was fair amount of action this episode, so those of you who wanted a bit more from last week’s episode should be pleased to hear that. In the last episode, Raimei mentioned that Kotarou is a master of henshin jutsu (変身術), i.e. transformation techniques, so I guess that explains the giant cat-like form at the end. As for Yoite, his “Kira” technique seems awfully overpowered to me, so I’m starting to wonder how one would even go about countering it short of using some Shinrabanshou powers. ^_^ The eye injury Miharu sustained didn’t turn out to be as severe as I thought it would be, so I guess I read a little too much into that. Regardless, they still show him bandaged up as such in the preview for the next episode. The only real question raised for me in this episode is what role Hattori Toujuurou plays in the overall story since it’s clear he has some plans in store for Miharu. Other than that, I would say it was a fairly straightforward, yet solid episode that introduced us to some other key characters in the series.

As for some seiyuu tidbits, Yoite is voiced by Saiga Mitsuki, who is yet another female seiyuu playing a guy in Nabari no Ou. (Note: Mitsuki often plays male characters though due to her deep voice. e.g. Johan in Shakugan no Shana II.) Fuuma Kotarou on the other hand is played by Okiayu Ryoutarou (Kuchiki Byakuya in Bleach, Furukawa Akio in CLANNAD, Andrew Waltfeld in Gundam SEED).

  1. Nothing personal divine but have the credits on the post is stupid, i’d rather suggest you not to have them unless you were mentioning someone really famous, instead of typing the whole thing episode after episode.

As far as the episode goes, well it doesn’t surprise me thobari couldn’t handle yoite since i’ve had my own suspiciousness off him since the first episode and the opening

  2. @Dreamer:
Hmm, I wonder if that’s who he/she’s referring to, since I don’t think I’ve misunderstood anything in this episode. In any case, thanks for pointing that out.

  3. Interesting anime remembers me flame of recca don´t know why?!!
By the way…could you guys from Random Curiosity lovers of Naruto make me a favor and test the navegation and the links from our new Naruto fan site on

And Nice job here sir Omni I am handling one anime and I am imaging the size of job you are having here too.Gambatte ne!

  4. @chupacabra:
Lately, I’ve been helping contribute seiyuu information to ANN for all the shows I’m watching, so adding that information here doesn’t require much more effort.

Personally, I find that there’s a lack of this type of information on the net (on Japanese sites as well, let alone English ones), so by adding it here at RC, I hope to make my coverage of each series more comprehensive. As an added benefit, people new to the series can also quickly refer to the credits to check character names (both in English and Japanese) if they need to.

If the credits section doesn’t interest you, you’re free to scroll past it.

meh, I love normal and logical preferences! Similar polars cannot attract each other and that’s unnatural!

This serie looks really good! So please stop saying “omg yaoi”! Let other people enjoy this as well.

Exclusive fangirlings and fanboyings are starting to get disturbing honestly. Even though I’m a girl, fangirls are even worse now…

Go on OMNI, thankies for your works 😀

  6. OMFG. I’m starting to get really pissed off. This show isn’t yaoi. It’s about as yaoi as Naruto. Yoite and Miharu are close but they’re not gay, just like how Naruto and Sasuke have a wierd relationship. Stop freaking out. Plenty of shows have guys that are close it doesn’t mean they are going to start making out or something. God. Why do you even bring this up in the first place?

Also, we get the dude looks like Ishida. Stop pointing it out. So, anyway, really intense episode. Loved it. ^_^

  7. @divine

Ahem I’m soooo sorry I didn’t look at who wrote the review cos the shows I have been watching are being reviewed by OMNI I’m terribly, terribly sorry T.T *blushes as well*

I gotta say that your job on summarizing is awesome

  8. Yes, that guy looks like Ishida. Yes, there were some – incredibly – harmless and short shounen-ai situations in the first two episodes. That’s about it. This show won’t turn into a yaoi hentai movie, even though some of you actually seem to want that. Are you guys happy now? Or do we have to point it out another ten times?

And anti-yaoi fan, you should really try to be a little less conservative, your view on the (hopefully only anime-)world is somewhat narrowminded. There’s nothing wrong with homosexuality – sorry if you didn’t mean it that way, but that’s how I caught it up. And I’m a “natural” guy saying that, jeez.

The show itself I have to say surprised me. Thought of it as a Naruto clone first, but the action and setting feel quite fresh. One of the better series this season up until now.

  9. Already read manga version of this anime…

  10. Hey, at the moment, it’s only going up to the 18th episode. There’ll be more, right? Or does anyone have an idea where there are more already? Cuz I’m looking on http://www.get-anime.net (which sometimes doesn’t work), but it only goes up to 18. If anyone finds more, then please tell me…
