“And The Two of Them…”
Detective Wil never fails does he? This time he was able to figure out that Stork is actually Allison’s formerly overweight and supposedly deceased father, Oscar Whittington. However, to get all this exposed, he did start off with a rather unorthodox approach by shooting “Stork” with a rubber bullet. I originally thought Stork was the subordinate that killed Oscar and was now feeling responsible for protecting his daughter during the recent mission, but it turned out it was the father himself, wanting to protect his own daughter.
As for the truth behind everything, it turns out Oscar’s always worked for Sou Beil’s secret intelligence department and had infiltrated Roxche as a spy during the war. As for Allison, she was left in the care of Ms. Muto in Roxche and grew up with Wil. Terreur Iron and Steel Foundation (テロル鉄鋼財団) was the company that developed a train cannon during the war for Roxche, but its schematics were stolen by Oscar, which allowed Sou Beil to create similar weaponry. Having the same weaponry eventually lead to a ceasefire treaty between the two countries, which is why Oscar felt he had to get this information back to Sou Beil. In the process, he was the one that ended up killing a subordinate and not the other way around. As for Oscar’s current mission, it was an extravagant scheme to protect the secret intelligence by getting rid of Terreur, who resented Roxche for not protecting the secrecy of his company’s weapon designs and had started making backroom deals with Sou Beil. (All this might be a bit much to take in at once, but it was explained just as quickly in the actual episode.)
After seeing Benedict declare his love for/propose to Fiona, Allison was about to do the same at the end of the episode, but wanted Wil to go first. It was pretty amusing watching those two almost get their mutual feelings across this time around, but it looks like we should see them succeed in doing so next time, plus a lot more insight into their childhood.
P.S. Here’s a big billboard that I came across last week.
