So I guess it’s my turn to add to the long list of new writers joining RandomC! I’m going to skip all the praise and history of how I stumbled onto RC, however I do want to especially thank Divine for giving me the opportunity to blog for a site that I highly respect and love. I’ve been visiting the blog regularly since… 2006 and thought that now’s a good a time as any to be more vocal and active around here.

With that said, my history of anime is pretty mundane. I started watching Pokemon and Dragon Ball with my best friend years ago, not really knowing the differences between American and Japanese cartoons. To us, they were just TV shows. Sometime in high school (when I got bored of American TV shows), I went looking up old anime shows I loved. It started with Cardcaptor Sakura, followed by Inuyasha and Fullmetal Alchemist. Before I knew it, I was hooked. When university came along (with download speeds of 2MB/sec and unlimited bandwidth?!), I went crazy. All I would do is procrastinate, watch anime, eat a lot and sleep. I am not even lying, my first two years of university are the reason I keep up with shows now.

I am over-exaggerating (maybe? o_O), however I still graduated and landed my first full-time job which I love! Therefore, I don’t have an abundance of free time, but I like expressing my opinions and thoughts and I know that blogging will give me a good excuse to focus on my hobbies and interests (and not work overtime). In addition to anime though, I do have passions and interests elsewhere; I love to read and bake, I watch a lot of movies (almost every opening Friday night); I play pool and jitz (foosball?) and also continue to watch TV shows/dramas on a regular basis.

In terms of my favorite genre of anime, I don’t claim to be a jack-of-all-trades. However, I’d like to believe that my range of anime has widened overtime (especially with friends who always seem to watch more than I do). My favorite genres are normally rom-coms and mystery while some of my favorite series include FMA: Brotherhood, Fantastic Children, NANA and Honey & Clover. More recently I’ve enjoyed Mawaru Penguindrum, GOSICK and Steins;Gate. That’s not to say that I am completely against watching new or different anime though. In fact, I love finding pleasant surprises. I watch most recommendations (short of horror) once they’re made and I almost always complete a series that I start (I can only think of a handful that I’ve put on the back burner… for now). I am slaving away to update my MAL just for you guys (just give me some time to update…XP)!

As you can probably tell, I have a very informal way of writing but I’m also not looking to get published. I’m here to share my thoughts and opinions which are usually unfiltered; I don’t have a lot to hide and I am generally open about conversing on any topic. Compared to a lot of readers, I probably know very little about anime and any feedback would be appreciated. I think the plan is for me to start blogging for the Spring season, so until then I’ll be out and about! Nice to meet you all by the way =)

P.S. My quote is from the movie Ratatouille (which is arguably my favorite Pixar film). Yes it’s random, yes I love food. If I wasn’t blogging anime, I would probably be a foodie =3

      1. It’s clear to me now that Divine’s departure is merely the beginning of RC’s first original animated work. The master departs, the rookies begin a whirlwind romance and then Divine makes his return, the mastermind of a new evil organization whose goal is to monopolize anime blogging. And someone is voiced by Norio Wakamoto.

I’m on to you, old boy.

      2. An anime about the bloggers of Random Curiosity? FUND IT.

“The Daily Lives of Anime Bloggers” which will be Exactly What It Says on the Tin. (I love TV Tropes)

I can imagine the writers singing this as the ending song:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zllwFwSQ-w
BA BA BA BA RA RA RI RA BA BA BARA BA BA BA BA RA RA RI RA BA BA! BA BA BA BA RA RA RI RA BA BA BARA BA BA BA BA RA RA RI RA BA BA BA BA BA BA BAAAAA! XD

        The_Magus_Killer
      3. Let’s see, here…I’d be voiced by Sugita Tomokazu, Verdant would definitely get Ono Daisuke, and unlisted? Iguchi Yuka. Imagine it. It will be awesome.

*gets to plotting out the others*

Maybe Saito Chiwa for Takaii. Hurm. Will keep thinking on that one. Now, who should we get for Enzo and the new kouhai…

        Stilts
      4. OMG… If “The Daily Lives of Anime Bloggers of RC” gets a comic/ova this will be so troperific and tons of shout-out and sit-com arch nemesis with EVERYWHERE!!
This will be just lk reading “tales of writers” comic in a hong kong gaming magazine tht is equally troperific and full of shout-outs.

        Ano ne, FUND IT!!!!!

Oh yeah, welcome new writer #3-san.

      5. Divine still commands the powah, as usual.

With five words, he’s set off a chain of events that will eventually lead to his role in the anime “Randomu Shi ni Yookoso”, voiced by Irino Miyu.

The show will be about the comedic interactions and misunderstandings among the slightly off-beat cast of Randomu Shi™, whose all-male cast is suddenly thrown into a maelstrom with the debut of the Sakka Shojo Tai (Writer Girl Squad). Hilarious and heartwarming moments abound in the new series, coming soon to a blog near you!

      6. Divine has to be Mamoru Miyano! He’s probably cackling like a certain mad scientist at the chaos he has caused!

Enzo can get Kamiya Hiroshi; his posts tend to be lengthy in general or maybe that’s just Another, so we can listen to him monologue to our heart’s content.

Apart from those two, I’m happy with the current cast 8D Let the author-actor matching continue! We’ve got at least four more unaccounted for, eh?

And really, doujin please? 4-koma? Light Novel? FLASH ANIMATION?!?!?!

        Randomu-Shi no Nichijou~ AAAWWWU!

      1. Gonna go ahead and say it, even though I’ll probably be down-voted to oblivion.

Please write as gender neutral as you possibly can. Female internet personalities can attract the most obnoxious and incestuous of followers. Avoid that at all costs please.

        Asdf
      2. Yeah, but Asdf, I thought the guys here want to see a woman’s opinion about a show.

Anyway if you like romcom Cherrie, try Sankarea next season. It’s a bit of an action comedy too. Think Kore wa Zombie Desuka meets Ah My Goddess.

        The Moondoggie
      3. Yeah, I get it. And it’s not like I expect a difference in opinion about anime just because of gender. In fact, the reason why I want to hear it is to disprove the idea that there is such a difference in opinion.

        The Moondoggie
    1. Hmmm… people seem to really like guessing gender here, so I’ll leave it up to your interpretation =P
I’ll try not to be overly feminine though if that makes Asdf feel better -__-‘

      Cherrie
  1. Oh~ Entry number 3! Congratulation! And I don’t know if your way of writing is being informal or not since I’m not native Englisher speaker but don’t worry about it. As long as it’s fun to read, anything goes~

    Serapita
  2. Third time’s a charm. In this case, a Cherrie. Welcome! Yeah seeing a Ratatouille remark here does feel random, but that’s why it’s “Random” Curiosity right? In other words, works for me!

    Zhinvu
    1. Why girls? Why not guys? =(
Ore no Imouto – Kirino is so cute! I think she’s easily relateable.
Penguindrum – Ringo! She went from crazy to… not so crazy =) She was entertaining to watch.
Steins;Gate – Kurisu hands down! I like strong kick ass females in anime.

      Cherrie
      1. Eh, the males aren’t nearly as hard to choose from.

Penguindrum – Ringo! She went from crazy to… not so crazy =) She was entertaining to watch.

I see. I prefer Masako myself though I agree Ringo was entertaining once her character development started.

        Jason
  3. Welcome and congrats! Always a treat to see different writing styles in RC 🙂 Are you from NA by the way?

So many long timers since 2006..Looks like 2008 ain’t enough orz

    LightnDark
  4. Woohoo woohoo, I feel your pain. I too went animecrazy when I got my 100mbps internet connection.

I also went mad for weeks (ok not weeks actually just about 3 days) refusing to leave my room but that is Another matter altogether.

  5. Welcome Cherrie,
Glad to see another blogger here on RC. (damm I’m getting to say that allot these days.. Anybody else having that feeling to???) I guess I can speak for all of us and say that we hope that you’ll have a good time here on RC as a blogger instead of a reader.

    Tonameki
  6. -Divine, can I keep her. 🙂
-Anyway. I think I will also be crazy once I obtain that kind of speed.
-Writing is an art. So don’t be afraid to make mistakes, we make mistakes and I think other -writers will help you if you did something wrong. Show Spoiler ▼

-Oh Cherrie, I demand that you join .

    Croos
  7. Informal =/= bad.

I think your writing style implies that you’re very comfortable with what you put down, and that’s always a plus when doing something you love.

    Kampai to your debut!

    DCLXVI
  8. nice to meet you CHERRIE 🙂 awesome nice to see new writers!
I am sure you will do great here 🙂
hope you pop into IRC channel as well, and mostly importantly good luck with RL and have fun here!

    jrj
  9. Welcome! Don’t worry about your writing. I think you’ll do great, just have fun.

Q: What shows are you hyped for the upcoming season?

BTW, so you like food? It must be hard to live in USA then. Good food was expensive and hard to find over there when I visited Florida many years ago. I’m a food lover too, blessed to live in Argentina. To be fair I was a 13-14yo kid at that time traveled over there, but I still find it so funny how people get exited about bacon and cheese.

    1. I haven’t been to Florida in awhile =( so I have no idea what restaurants are available there….
I LOVE New York and California though… the places I’ve visited have been a good mix of Western/Asian/European food so you should try those states next =) Currently, I work for one a company that gives me cheese everyday… can’t say I’m a cheese fan anymore -.-‘

@ n0216332: I love England! Maybe not for food necessarily =P I love fish, I just don’t eat it deep fried and battered all the time.

      Cherrie
  10. Glad to see a female writer on board, Cherrie 😉
Ratatouille? It’s a show about RATS and they’re no Mickey Mouse! I’m guessing you’ve never dealt with pest problems that involves the furry rodents D:

    Seishun Otoko
    1. There will be a lot of females coming in =) No I’ve never had pest problems fortunately… but I just really loved the plot and characters in the movie. Anything about food is interesting to me ^^

      Cherrie
  11. I’m running out of proper greetings so I’ll just copy paste everything!
Awesome, looking forward to working with you! And as a fellow newcomer, I wish you good luck.
    Let’s do our best! :]

    Also, +1 for Ratatouille!

    Stereoman
  12. Congratulations Cherrie, and welcome! I know Divine said that there were several female writers chosen, but since you were the first to post her introductions, I guess this technically bestows to you the honor of being this site’s first ever female writer (bring on the pressure)! XP

Nah, just kidding, it’s great to have you. Anyways, wish you all the best, and I’m looking forward to your first post.

    Zen
    1. Hahaha… I think I’m my own worst critic atm >_< so all the pressure is self-inflicted. I didn't expect my intro to go up so soon but Divine's just efficient =) you'll see a ton of other female intros to come!

      Cherrie
  13. Welcome Cherrie! Looking forward to your future contributions to the site. I’m always amazed that I managed to get through my undergrad years with university connection speeds…my second and third years are still all a blur of anime/jpop/kpop overdose.

    Xin
  14. Welcome, I’m glad to see a new blogger who share the same first anime watched ever 🙂 It means we’re the same generation ahaha (well i think so…). I feel less like a kid among all these Anime Veterant.

Cardcaptor was the best thing ever ! <3
    Do your best Cherry!!

    maddoki
      1. Yeah I heard about how they screwed up the story in the english version. I think it was kept more original in the french version (I am a native french speaker 🙂 ) But anyway, I had to watch the original CCS on streaming site and I loved it <3

        maddoki
      2. If both of you are talking about CardCaptors, I had the luck of growing up on a different country since I’ve read everywhere how awful that adaptation was. Here [in the Philippines], CCS is widely regarded as one of the best dubbed anime ever. But of course, I’m still dying to get a BD copy of the original and I’d certainly rewatch it as many times as I can. I’ll forever be a Syaoran fangirl. <3

        nagi
    1. I want to blog a lot of stuff =) But I think everyone else is going to be fighting over the same shows so I don’t mind letting them get first pick haha! A lot of the other writers have been here longer.

      Cherrie
  15. Oooh, the 3rd new writer! Hehe, I like Cherrie already. My fav new writer so far (in terms of the personality I’m feeling from her post). [x
Cherrie, I look forward to reading your comments on here! Oh yah, what shows will you be covering?

    EGOiST
  16. Welcome! I am always interested to read the opinions of any writer who lists Nana as one of their favorite shows. It’s certainly one of mine and Oosaki Nana is one of my favorite characters of all time. Looking forward to reading your posts!

    Beckett
  17. “And if I don’t love it, I don’t SWALLOW!”

Well, that was my follow-up. Anyway, looking forward to reading your reviews.

I tend to be a little random and sarcastic in my comments, so please do not be offended if I say something. If I post a reply, usually it already means that I enjoyed the review and is just following with my own opinion.

    MasterDragonKnight
      1. Another writer!
So food has been mentioned so much I just have to ask a few questions there-
What kinds of foods do you eat and why? Like is it comfort food, or maybe you like to cook and eat cool things? What kinds of things?
Anyway that creepy response is a welcome from me!

        Timelessness
      2. AH! Sorry forgot to reply….
My favorite “type” (would it be type? o_O) is probably desserts. I have a major sweet tooth and I bake a lot (even though I never like to eat what I bake). My favorite cuisine is Japanese and/or Korean – it’s super cheap here! Not a huge fan of “junk” food exactly, but I find myself drinking bubble tea/boba a lot =)

        Cherrie
      1. Red ants? Those are dangerous! They have the tenacity of a rhinoceros, the sting of a bee, and the annoyance level of a whiny kid.
That being said, this is somewhat amusing to watch.

        Laziness
  18. That university Internet is a wicked trap. They lure you in with the sweet, sweet download speed–then you get a letter from the Housing Department that you’ve been using 4x the bandwidth of the rest of your floor combined.

“I…I stream a lot of music, okay?!”

    Cloud is Not Amused
  19. Welcome! I’m glad you’re hear to write for the blog. You’re writing style may be informal, but I think I might just think it’s the one with the most personality. Perhaps you’re just someone I can relate to. Anyways, I look forward to reading what you have to say.

    Again, welcome! <3

    Giraffe
  20. Welcome to RC! I look forward to your posts, seeing as we have many of the same interests (CCS, FMA, H&C, NANA, Steins;Gate which is also one of my recent favorites!). It would be interesting to hear your opinions on our common interests after all. 8)

    Jel
  21. I like the helpful info you provide in your articles. I will bookmark your weblog and check again here frequently. I am quite sure I will learn plenty of new stuff right here! Best of luck for the next!
