Now that the summer preview has been released, it’s time to give you a first look at the shows we’ll be blogging this season. This is Random Curiosity’s Spring 2015 blogging schedule.
As always, this is a tentative overview of our plans for the new season. We’ll also be doing introductory posts on many of the shows we’re not covering, so if something catches our eyes, things will be shifted around to accommodate. The schedule will be updated to reflect any changes.
As usual, DO NOT PANIC! We’ll introduce plenty of shows before we settle on our schedule. We let ourselves cover 1-3 episodes before a blogging decision must be made, and we’ll use them. (Related: All of us die inside when people whine that X or Y show isn’t being covered. And who would want to make us suffer? Don’t answer that question.) Here are a few of the shows we’re planning to introduce, in order of premiere date:
- Chaos Dragon: Sekiryuu Sen’eku
- Aquarian Logos
- Ranpo Kitan: Game of Laplace
- Joukamachi no Dandelion
- Ushio to Tora
- GATE: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakeri
- Durarara!!x2 Ten
- WORKING!!!
- Gatchaman Crowds Insight
- Dragon Ball Super
- God Eater
- Jitsu wa Watashi wa
- Overlord
- Himouto! Umaru-chan
And more. That doesn’t mean any of those, much less all of them, will be picked up for full coverage. It just means that one of us is planning to do at least one post on them, to introduce the series to you.
In staff news, Zanibas will be going on indefinite hiatus as of this season. He just graduated from school and is joining the wonderful world of working adults (I’m just kidding, it sucks), which has left him little time to blog. He hopes to figure everything out and return to blogging when his schedule allows it, but he doesn’t have any idea of when that will happen. Until then, he’s going to continue helping behind the scenes, and might appear for an occasional post if one of needs a week off.
That’s all the news I have for you this time. Be sure to check this post periodically for additional series pickups. As always, thank you for reading. Let’s have another fun season of anime together!
Updates:
- 07/12: It would be a tragedy if the antics at Wagnaria went uncovered in its final season. Fortunately, Samu isn’t about to let that happen! WORKING!!! has been picked up.
- 07/15: It turns out people are digging Sore ga Seiyuu! after all. Pardon me while I do the I-told-you-so dance. *dances, dances* What was I here for? Oh, yeah—Passerby has picked up Sore ga Seiyuu!
Looks good so far. Now all we need is some WORKING!!! love and maybe GATE, if it turns out any good. Thanks for all the continuous effort!
Will the long-awaited review of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya eventually happen?
No coverage for Overlord?
@Stils , think about all the Boner jokes you will miss.
Laugh at my boner, will they?!
*peeks in. Looks both ways.*
Ahem.
Aw man, nobody’s looking at Symphogear? How could you fail us like this, whine, complain, cry, lazy writers, rage, quit forever, fuss, etc.
(PS: THE ABOVE COMMENT IS (obviously, I hope) A JOKE.)
Really, thanks for your coverage, guys. We do appreciate it, even when we complain. I’ll be following Takaii on Non Non, and Stilts on Prisma Illya at least. Maybe some other things if they catch my attention, but out of the things I believe I want to watch at this point those are the only two that have been picked up so far. I’ll be looking out for first impressions to see what else there is to see in this season though: there’s always something (or several somthings) that I’ve overlooked.
Because you pointed out the whining instead of indulging in it, I’ll actually respond to your comment honestly ^^
One of us—okay, it’s not hard to figure out who, Zephyr is planning to intro Symphogear. I don’t always mention all the shows that are getting intros if I don’t think there’s a chance they’ll get picked up and/or if I don’t think people will overreact if I don’t mention them at all. So it oughta get at least one post.
I’ll look forward to seeing you in my Prisma Illya posts, and whenever I stop by Takkun’s Non Non Biyori ones. Nyanpasu~!
HYPE LIST:
Prison School
Gangsta
Aoharu x Kikanjuu
Overlord
God Eater
I think Takaii’s choices are kind of funny.
If you only look at the pictures from the introduction, Non Non Biyori and Gakkou Gurashi look very similar. However, mood-wise the two series are pretty much the complete opposites.
I’m just a funny kind of person :3
-Pokes head in-
Sad that nobody is continuing Durarara!! or doing Aquarion/and or CHAOS DRAGON. Good to see coverae for Prisma Illya is continuing as well as coverage for Charlotte though.
OR MAYBE WE ARE!?
Wait and see. You could be surprised.
That’s a fair point. I’ll wait and hope some of those get picked up then.
As long you guys try to give the most shows an 1st View Posting, i can try to continue my impressions through short appetizers postings, like i done with Show of Rock and such…
But i found a new land, the people gave it the name reddit. There, the grass are greener and the water are more blue :)… Well, i am not run away from a long friend. But my focus is now there, too
Surprised that Durarara!! isn’t getting definite coverage, considering the hype.
Durarara could definitely still get coverage, it’s just that blogging the same thing can get boring, even if the show remains good. That holds both for Passerby (who has blogged it) and for those who have just watched it a lot. It’s different when you can go three full seasons blogging other shows, like I have been with Prisma Illya, than when the cours are close together or connected.
Of course, back in the Omni/Divine days, they used to blog a lot of longer shows, but they also had a lot of different shows that kept switching in and out while they were blogging the long ones. Since most of us blog 2-3 shows a week, variety becomes more important.
It’s one of those things that’s more about the writer than the reader, I’m afraid, but we have to blog things we won’t dread writing about, or we’ll flame out and quit.
That makes sense, thanks. Going to blog it myself, so was hoping to compare weekly notes, but I completely understand the issue.
Furthermore, on my part, I’ve had a lot of Saturday shows just recently and I’m wary of the weekend burn-out. But, of course, tentative schedule. Let’s see how things pan out.
Does that mean he can blog when he wants to? 😀
Divine’s the boss. He can do whatever he wants. Unless he tries to take my Illya-chan *glares*
In addition to Gangsta and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, I hope you continue to blog Durarara!!x2 Ten, Working!!!, and God Eater.
Other than stuff i’m already watching (Ore Monogatari and Shougeki no Soma) Gangsta and Chaos Dragon looked to be the only two things that really interested me. I was turned off of Gate given that it is supposed to be a right-wing Japanese militant’s wet dream.
Really? How so?
I know nothing about it but was intrigued by the premise (I liked Outbreak Company) and thought it could be fun. Is it particularly jingoistic?
Check the preview post. There are a few comment threads about it.
As far as right wing goes, there’s a character that goes “think about the oil!” Protagonist: “F the oil! I’m not risking my life for that!”
Then there’s a scene where the helicopter pilots relive their fantasy of Apocalypse Now (the fact that one of the most anti-war films is referenced will state the author’s opinion on the subject, plus the overarching political plot focusing on the Japanese suing for peace and trying to reduce unnessary bloodshed part when facing an enemy who has no concept of defeat) with Ride of the Valkyries music in the background.
Also, the manga shows that women are the fiercest and most badass people in the universe. You don’t want to upset one. And the most badass women in the universe is NOT Japanese.
In short, it’s nowhere near the xenophobic right wing sentiments found in The Irregular at Magic Highschool.
Cant find nisekoi on that Friday schedule… Does that mean nisekoi have only 13 episode? And also, denpa kyoushi have recently entered its 2nd cour (as how its OP2 introduced lots of new chara) but I cant see it on the Saturday schedule. typo? Forgot to add or what?
Ok I am reading in various sites that nisekoi will go for only 12 + OVA. But denpa kyoushi is going for 24.
We only carryover shows that are more than one-cour if we’re going to continue blogging them. We weren’t covering Denpa Kyoushi so it’s not on the schedule, sorry =(
Ok I got it… I thought this is a combined spring (still ongoing titles)+summer schedule/guide. but I hope it just like before (not pretty sure but I believed that it have been done before) where ongoing titles (covered or not) from past season are listed in the current schedule so readers will know what are the titles from past season that are still airing and will continue in the current season. This schedule also meant to function as a guide foe the readers right? so anime titles that are ongoing (doesht matter if it is not covered) aside from new titles must be there. Just my suggestion.
This isn’t an everything-that’s-airing-this-season schedule. It’s a what-RandomC-is-covering schedule. We leave the new stuff from this season in because it’s just easier to do that, and they could get picked up. Adding all carry over shows would be a giant pain in the butt when that’s not what this schedule is for. Thank you for the suggestion, though.
I hope that somebody could possibly fit in a review of the Aquarion Evol OVA.
Hopefully… Alisa’s
underboobawesomeness rivals Shinoa to warrant a weekly blog for God Eater.I’m just wondering what will be the line art of the main character. So excited in this adaptation.
Show Spoiler ▼
I just hope that this adaptation will not be used solely to jumpstart the popularity of the game’s sequel and the PS Vita and PS 4 consoles again.
damn it! Overlord is still 1 week away!
No ones planning to cover Dragon Ball? I mean I don’t honestly expect it to be very good but its freaking Dragon Ball That just seems odd to me.
I can’t speak for everyone else, but personally I look at the length of an anime as well before committing to it. Dragon Ball Super is reportedly 100 eps long o_o that’s almost 2 years of blogging a single show… that’s an incredibly long commitment for an anime you may or may not like so yes… that’s why I’m personally cautious of it =X
Passerby not reprising Durarara!!x2 Ten ?
That’s a little odd…
I do hope that this show gets blogged ^_^
Cherrie’ll blogging Akagami no Shirayukihime? Excellent!
On another note, is Zanibas taking a temporary leave of absence? Maybe I’m forgetting something, but I don’t recall him mentioning it in his posts.
You know, I feel like people overuse the word “literally” these days, when what they often mean is “metaphorically” or something to that effect.
However, I literally explained Zani’s situation in this very post! “In staff news, Zanibas will be going on indefinite hiatus as of this season…”
*gestures wildly upwards* It’s there! It’s right up there! In this very post! All the answers are right *points upwards so rapidly it looks like a new dance move* up there!!
*froths at the mouth* *stomps around* *goes to have a cookie and a nap*
Is it wrong that I find this post incredibly hilarious? xD
(Nice moves you got there Stilts)
Yes it is, and you’re a monster.
*glares over the top of his pillow fort, pillow cannon at the ready*
RC not covering Working? Blasphemy!
Wow, I’m really happy to see Rokka no Yuusha getting covered! That’s probably the one I was hoping for the most. Looking forward to Samu’s impressions on it.
I see Stilts isn’t going on a masochistic spree of blogging 3 weekend anime again =3 (okay, so technically it was 2 weekend anime, but stuff happened with Nanoha Vivid)
Though he still might pick more weekend anime for coverageI’m pretty excited for Rokka no Yuusha as well. The premise alone has me very intrigued. I look forward to blogging it~
I’m happy to see Akagami no Shirayukihime and Charlotte are getting covered!
Cherrie’s doing Akagami no Shirayukihime? Noted! That shall be the only series whose reviews I WON’T be reading. She’s been spilling spoilers anyway. Nobody likes a bad apple.
Sugoii,
Hum looks like no one is gonna cover Monster Musume for some reason despite the manga popularity. I wonder why though 🙁 the setting is different then the usual story and it doesn’t happen in highschool or any school for that matter, so that should be a plus.
No Baby Steps ?
Is it possible for someone to cover Joukamachi No Dandelion?! I know its a possible coverage on your list but really want to hear your opinions about it! I really like it so far 😀 Especially the first half of the second episode :3 Anyway, looking forward to all the upcoming coverage of animes 😀
Man I really hope you guys pick up Prison School! It really is an unexpected gem
