Never one to pass up some fun vampire action, let’s dive into this week’s Owari no Seraph!
Developing Your Powers
With an internal power struggle developing within the Japanese Imperial Army and all kinds of strange human experimentation going around, it’s not surprising that this week’s episode leapt straight into developing the Demon Weapons — a point of interest that I all but forgot about since it’s been so long since our trio actually obtained them. In any case, I really enjoyed how the show handled developing each character’s weapon. You had Yoichi finally getting a leg up on Yuu and Shihou, Yuu demonstrating he’s finally discovered something besides wanting to slay vampires, and Shihou showing us that his heart might have made some space for the “family” around him. Something that really helped solidify the idea that the story has actually made some progress and our character’s didn’t simply reset with the start of another season.
The Vampire Council
Just like the humans and the army they’re trying to decimate, it looks like the vampires have their fair share of problems. Showing a whole lot less restraint from last season, it looks like whatever Ferid has been planning has been steadily moving forward. Whether that’s trying to put pressure onto Krul politically or trying to entangle her using Mika, he’s still the same conniving scumbag from last season. That said, I’ll admit that seeing Krul completely pissed off had its own unique charm. Maybe I’m just weird, but I found it kind of cute (and terrifying) when she finally let out some of that anger and disgust she had with Ferid. That and I really wish we were shown how that conversation about Krul turning Mika into a vampire went down.
General Impressions and Looking Forward
With our main cast of characters all healed up and new upgrades in hand, it feels like the story can finally kick things past first gear. With the higher ups working behind her other’s backs to stay one step ahead and the revelation that there’s some serious human experimentation going on, it looks like we’ll have more than enough material to blast through this season. So whether you’re here for the action, the story, or the cute demons like Ashuramaru, I’m sure you’ll be able to find something you’ll like.
- Man, having three shows on one day is rough. But man, do I also enjoy this show.
- I loved momentarily chou kawaii Ashuramaru.
- What the fuck was that supposed to be? God, get out of here Shihou!
- With all this scheming going on, it’s tough to say who the bad guy really is.
- !!! IS THAT SHINOA’S SISTER I SEE IN THE PREVIEW?
