「 勇者学院の謎」 (Yuusha Gakuin no Nazo)
“The Mystery of the Hero Academy”

Now I’m not saying this week’s Maou Gakuin passed by in the blink of an eye, but damn did time seem to fly by. From adorable Sasha tsundere-isms to yet more teasing of a past in need of explanation, it was back to Anoth the Explorer in all his smug glory, and the best part it was only a taste of the true fun to come.

While I think it was common knowledge the heroes of Anoth’s world would wind up similarly resurrected, I seriously doubt anyone had them do so under the roof of a legitimate hero academy. All the promise of major shock and awe as demon friends turn into ancient enemies? Right out the window, although the fact Anoth’s frenemy Kanon was reborn into three separate entities (of which one hasn’t been shown yet), each nothing compared to the original, definitely hints towards some intrigue to come on that front. It may be effectively known that Ray is Anoth’s old sword-wielding subordinate for example, but that doesn’t preclude the possibility he’s not entirely the subordinate. When you’ve got nostalgia and twinges of reminiscence openly making their presence felt alongside four of Kanon’s sources being without identified bodies, you can damn well wager not all is as it seems among our demon cast.

Beyond immediate talk of resurrection, however, the major fun is, once again, in the Anoth-Anos dichotomy. Given Kanon was supposedly murdered by a fellow human after Anoth’s death and Anoth’s impersonator just happens to be known in the human realm too, it’s a fair bet the conspiracy (if you can call it that) runs deeper than simple opportunism. After all, we wouldn’t have all the flashbacks surrounding Kanon’s and Anoth’s history, the selective remembrance on the part of the written record, and that focus on sources if there wasn’t something greater afoot concerning demons and humans both. Your guess is as good as mine for what it could be, but I don’t think we’ll have long to wait to get another piece of the puzzle.

With Anoth and harem friends ready to do battle yet again (read: walk all over the competition), it’s just a matter of time until the next challenger makes their appearance.

  1. Ivis Necron was planning to use the girls as a vessel for the resurrection of
Avos Dilhevia, so does that mean Anoth’s real nemesis isn’t resurrected yet?

I know they’re not adapting a lot of the LN/WN material, but for a “bad” show,
the story and plot are actually pretty good. It’s a little confusing right now on who’s
reincarnated as whom, but I’m pretty sure it’ll all make sense in the next episode or so.

Also, it’s not clear to me the significance of Sasha’s eyes to Anoth. They’ve spent
quite a bit of time on her eyes in each episode that she’s been in, so they must be
much more than a moe distraction to the story.

Also, it’s good to see Misha’s wife training coming along well with the making my
husband’s Demon King of Tyranny’s daily lunch and honestly did she really,
really try to “rouse” her sister…?

My only complaint was there was no Anoth’s mom fawning over her son with
the troupe gathered around the dinner table!

Can’t wait for the next episode…

  2. I definitely think there is some strong foreshadowing with Sasha’s eyes. Don’t know what is going to happen. But I feel like Anos is omniscient. And he knows that she is the key or the only one that can help him against a future plot: and he is preparing her for that.

  3. At least we know it wasn’t one of the party members betraying Kanon. I guess those two ladies went their separate ways when Anos put up that barrier.

Considering what happened to Anos’ mother, is that why he seem to value family? Would love it if they gave more details on that. Also wonder if this has any relation to those questions in the first episode.

  4. Well at the moment I’m assuming that all the reincarnations of Kanon we have seen so far are fake. If you have a fake demon lord then a fake hero to accompany it is logical. I expect the real Kanon has probably been brainwashed/possessed.

I’d also suspect that Eleanor Bianca who shows them round Hero Academy is probably one of the two heroines accompanying Kanon as otherwise she wouldn’t know he has changed
