“Visitor Arc VI”

Just when you thought you knew where Mahouka was going next, you get something like this. What, you think I’m referring to Miyuki giving into desire? Please, that was a given from day one. Nawh, this week it’s all about Mayumi and that, erm, interesting philosophy on obligation chocolate.

Given Mahouka has been all about extradimensional shenanigans of late, it’s difficult faulting the show for giving some mid-season downtime, especially the fan-servicey variety. Miyuki naturally dominates the proceedings here for obvious reasons, as whether you love or hate her rampant bro-con affliction, it’s hard denying the fun it offers at times. All the fun. Of course, it begs the question how Honoka can get away giving chocolate to Miyuki’s one and only, but something tells me Miyuki knows the poor girl offers next to no threat to her position. Why else do you think Lina happened to stall on giving her present? When you’re magical super-agent #1, you start to recognize true danger before it appears. Consider how that lack of experience worked for poor Mikihiko.

As for this arc’s main plot, well, we did get some further tidbits to go off of. The parasite (or one of them) for example is pretty much confirmed to be on campus courtesy of happy girl noises, while the key behind parasite appearance effectively comes down to revealing whoever the hell the Seven Sages are. Well, that and Lina being roped back into military hijinks courtesy of one Virgina Balance (oh that name gives me a chuckle) hinting towards potential trouble with Tatsuya down the line—because state secrets are the most important secrets—but hey, all things in due time.

After all, there’s still over half a season of Mahouka to go, and as this series has shown time and again, it never believes there’s a bad moment to get down into the magical weeds.

  1. I vaguely remember that Miyuki is just ok with Honoka because they’ve had a heart-to-heart where they are just on the same wavelength when it comes to Tatsuya. Of course, Honoka never having a chance of Tatsuya recorpurating those feelings for various reasons plays a big part in it most likely.

That said, the true victim is Miki here.

    1. Seems like a lame excuse for Miyuki being ok with Honoka’s fervent pursuit of Tatsuya. Pretty much the entire first season was Miyuki’s absolute zero response to Tatsuya even talking about an eligible female. Miyuki has been absurdly possessive about him. But if that’s what they want everyone to believe….

But my question is, how has Miki been victimized? I was wondering about his expression and generally pallid appearance during that scene but other than a general desire for more from Mizuki, I’m not sure what would affect him this way.
