「伊豆キャン!!! バースデー!」 (Izu Kyan!!! Baasudee)
“Izu Camping!!! Birthdays!”

This week’s Yuru Camp commemorates the birthdays of Aio and Nadeshiko during their trip to Izu. But even with the festivities that await them, they are still excited about the prospect of using the remainder of their trip to continue geospotting.

Episode 12 had a nice adventure going on as the girls traveled from place-to-place to take a look at the many unperturbed beauties that await in Izu. From the hilly surfaces of Dougashima to the Nishiizu Skyline, there are many destinations of Izu that we get a small glimpse of this time around.

We also finally get the payoff to the Inuyama sisters’ trolling scheme, but as it turns out, Akari was the one that ended up getting pranked with her belief of the incorrect definition of tombolo coming back to bite her. Although local BBQ helped to heal all wounds, I was surprised that they weren’t both in on the trick and that Akari didn’t have something up her sleeve to get Aoi back.

With how much this season presses the message of how far everyone has come, it all really comes back into the fold with Mt. Fuji being visible from a distance. Fuji-yama has always had a small presence in the anime based on how many campsites are established with its view of Fuji in mind. But with this episode, rather than trying to see it up close, their aspirations are grander and they are satisfied looking at it, but from a further distance that solidifies how far they wish to venture to get the most out of their excursions outside.

It was also a cute episode that featured a birthday party for both Aoi and Nadeshiko. With a big feast and further exploration of geospots to look forward to, their trip to the Daruma Forest made for a valuable moment where the two received wooden cookware. With how lengthy and adventurous the girls’ trip to Izu is, it should be exciting to see what we can get from the upcoming finale.

    1. I was also preparing myself for a finale post, but I’m thankful we’ve got one last week before that happens. Both because I just got done with a massive finale post and because it’ll give me another week to enjoy some Yuru Camp before Spring begins.

    1. I’m glad the episode helped to make things a little brighter after a difficult day. Sometimes, when things are difficult, it can be nice to give yourself a comfortable space to unwind and rest a bit with some comfort shows/games/films.
