「変態ざかりの君たちへ」 (Hentaizakari no Kimitachi e)
“At the Height of your Perversion”
The never-ending jokes that come at Shinya’s expense will never grow old. It’s a shame that his easy-going personality lets him get into such suggestive situations — usually letting Futaba’s personality just engulf the situation ending up with Shinya just coming along for the ride. This time, Futaba is trying to buy a porno for Chiba’s birthday. Seeing as she’s nowhere near being eighteen, Shinya suggests that she draw him one instead! After getting exposed to a ton of Futaba’s nude drawings and the trio’s pantsu, it started to get pretty bad as he became a model for Futaba’s nude drawings. Being forced to wear a bra and pantsu over his clothing, I couldn’t decide whether to feel bad for Shinya or stop laughing over how ridiculous he looked. Oh silly Shin-chan, you and your innocent self.
Besides watching Satoshi take an evacuation drill way too seriously and Chiba failing to execute his new “Light-speed One-Handed Bra liberator” technique, I found the two segments with Papa Marui (Soujirou) the funniest of the bunch. I don’t know what it is about his character, but something about him just makes me smile every time he shows up. Whether he’s fighting against the constant stereotyping he faces or trying to be the best dad he can be, I feel bad for the guy since he usually ends up in some pretty horrible but funny situations.
When he goes to school for a normal field day to participate as Hitoha’s partner for the parent-child three legged race, he somehow manages to lose his pants and get his shirt ripped off. Can you even imagine what an old, slightly overweight, and hairy parent without pants and half a shirt would look like? I was surprised that Soujirou was even allowed to finish participating in the event! Maybe it was Satoshi’s quick explanation of who Soujirou was that helped prevent his immediate arrest. The best part had to be when Hitoha went from trying to protect her father from suspicious looks too changing her mind and reacting like a pedophile was standing next to her.
With the last skit focusing on a picture if Soujirou when he was younger, I couldn’t help but feel that something like this had already happened before. Amongst all the jokes, something serious hit me. As I thought about how his sexy figure changed into the Soujirou of today, I had a revelation. We’ve never actually seen Soujirou’s wife right? Plus after seeing how Hitoha takes on the motherly role in the family, I can only imagine how hard Soujirou must work as he is the only provider in the family. If he was working extra hard to support his family, it’s easy to see how he could have started piling on the pounds. As the realization of everything hit me I only started to feel even worse for all the crap Soujirou takes because of his appearance. Even after dealing with glaring stares from everyone around him, he’s such an awesome person for pushing past it all and being an awesome dad.

Soujirou really is a damn good parent. Sometimes, being the butt of jokes is just a consequence of giving it your all. Like you, I am really curious about their back story, too.
Soujirou is an awesome dad for sure. I’m not sure what happened to the mother but I mean he has the triplets…Would that mean she passed away? I’m with OrinX on this one about the weight, a possible emotional trauma like that could possibly make a person’s personality/physical appearance change drastically.
