「声は無限の彼方へ」 (Koe wa Mugen no Kanata e)
“Voices Over Infinite Distance”
What a way to end the first season of Dr.STONE.
With the stone wars waiting over the horizon, let’s dive into a recap over Dr.STONE and the show’s journey throughout these past 24 episodes.
Final Impressions
Man, it feels crazy to think that it’ll be a while before we get to see more of Senku’s journey into this brave new stone world. That said, I guess I should be ecstatic that the next season has been confirmed (within the episode nonetheless!). So, with Tsukasa and Senku ready to take each other on, what better time would there be to talk about how we got to this point?
Looking back at the story from this point, it’s kind of amazing just how far it’s come. From literally nothing to having a near-functioning wireless communication device, it’s kind of bonkers just how quickly Senku managed to achieve all of this. Toss in somehow avoiding an untimely demise from the hands of humanity’s (current) strongest human being and befriending an entire village and it almost sounds kind of impossible for just a single person. In Senku’s case though, he lucked out by having the two most envious traits — smarts and kindness. With the former providing the basis to take on such an disadvantageous world, the latter came in paying dividends when it came to the most crucial moments throughout the story. The thing is, it’s not like Senku has been keeping up a façade or faking his feelings. You can really feel just how much he cares about those around him and strives to take the power of science to help everyone. You know, even though I’ve talked about this countless times, I just came to the realization that this should have been apparent since the first few episodes. Thinking back to how Tsukasa “took out” Senku, the rationale behind stopping science’s progress was tied to Senku wanting to revive everyone. A notion that he was willing to at least fake dying for!
Moving on from Senku, I have to admit that Dr.STONE has one of the best casts I’ve seen in a while. With characters coming and going, it’s rather impressive how nearly every single person we’ve met has had some kind of opportunity to shine. From Byakuya and the rest of his crew to the burly Magma who ended up being somewhat of a softie, the characters are definitely what helped propel the story (and the show) to this point. If I were to pick my favorite character moments though, hands down I absolutely loved every time we got to see Byakuya. Usually hiding an emotional moment somewhere amongst all the fun times, it was such a trip to experience the memories at the same time as Senku. That and props to Byakuya for providing so much to Senku from thousands of years in the past.
Overall, I think Dr.STONE was a fantastic show. There were a few moments here and there where things slowed down, but I think in the grand scheme it was all necessary since it isn’t necessarily just the science that makes this show special. And while it’s a shame for the season to be over, I can’t wait to see just how the stone wars play out when the show makes its return.
In any case, thanks for tuning in and I hope you guys have a great time with the upcoming Winter 2019 season! Catch you around the bend 🙂
Kohaku reminds me of a primitive version of Alice from SAO

Inagaki Riichirou says he expects to end the manga in about 3 years time. But, he considers the timeline as a flexible moving target,
We have a general idea of how the story will end itself but as we’ve gone along this journey, sometimes it’s three steps forward, two steps back. I would be writing one storyline and I think it’ll just be one storyline but it ends up taking ten, and then something I think is going to take five will only take one. It’s a moving target and it’s hard to tell.

I was on the verge of dropping it, but it got a lot better with the introduction of the village and his annoying friend out of the picture. Story is interesting enough, although the old shonen jokes and super deformes faces are not for me. Not a show that will win any animation awards, but a decent watch.
LOL! Goku had a cameo in this episode. I wonder how copyright works in Japan. Or because it’s the season finale, they could just “F*ck it.” ?
You see this kind of thing all the time when manga share a publisher. As long as they get the author’s OK, anything goes.
Science rules!
The comic you shared is very good. compelling storyline. I look forward to these new updates.
I was wondering if I was watching Voices from a Distant Star or a reincarnation of Violet Oniongarden episode 10…
Didn’t realize that was the last episode of the season!!
