Now that the fall preview has been released, it’s time to give you a first look at the shows we’ll be blogging this season. This is Random Curiosity’s Fall 2015 blogging schedule.

As always, this is a tentative overview of our plans for the new season. We’ll also be doing introductory posts on many of the shows we’re not covering, so if something catches our eyes, things will be shifted around to accommodate. The schedule will be updated to reflect any changes.

As usual, DO NOT PANIC! (You’re panicking. Stop it.) We’ll introduce plenty of shows before we settle on our schedule. We let ourselves cover 1-3 episodes before a blogging decision is made, and we’ll use them. Here are a few of the shows we’re planning to introduce, in order of premiere date:

…and more. That doesn’t mean any of those, much less all of them, will be picked up for full coverage. It just means that at least one of us is planning to do an introductory post for each one.

In staff news, I cleaned up the legend and took out the writers who are on hiatus. You’ll notice that Zephyr’s name isn’t on the list. He’s going on hiatus as of this season. His hope is to return in spring or summer of next year, though he’ll still be contributing to posts like the season previews, and will likely take care of the year end post for us. In the meantime, I’ve gone ahead and devoured his soul, SOUL EATER-style, and become the new sci-fi blogger. Rar.

A couple of quick notes: (1) We haven’t totally decided who’s going to be blogging One-Punch Man yet, though I went ahead and put it under Samu’s name so y’all wouldn’t freak out. We’ll figure out who exactly will blog it after the first episode. (2) Don’t expect the first Heavy Objects post from me until Sunday at the earliest. Stilts-oniichan is moving this weekend, which’ll have me a bit busy.

That’s all the news I have for you this time. Be sure to check this post periodically for additional series pickups, and as always, thank you for reading.

Updates:

  • 10/09: The fight is over, and one man emerged victorious. Only for him, it took more than one punch. Samu will be covering One-Punch Man.
  • 10/09: You asked for it, and you’re getting it. RC’s new sci-fi blogger (rar) is dipping his toe back into fantasy waters. Stilts will be blogging Utawarerumono: Itsuwari no Kamen.
  • 10/09: Holy superhero mish-mash Batman, three announcements in one day? That’s right. Passerby has picked up Concrete Revolutio: Choujin Gensou.
  • 10/10: Takkun’s going back to school one more time. Takaii will be covering Gakusen Toshi Asterisk.

  1. I had a feeling Onepunch Man blogging was going to take a while to decide, lol. It’s probably the first show since Attack on Titan that has so overshadowed everything else in its season from a hype perspective.

    1. Ah, Onepunch Man. I found the manga to be pretty funny in the beginning, but it eventually lost its luster for me. I mean when you think about it, it’s just chapters and chapters of the exact same formula over, and over again; ridiculous-comedic enemy(s) causes trouble, gets pwned by Saitama (With a little pseudo-philosophical banter between the combatants thrown in for good measure), ad nauseum, ad infinitum. The whole Uber-OP protagonist pwns all premise is something we don’t get all too often in a market saturated with cookie-cutter power-up shounen, and from a comedic-mechanical standpoint this series is stronger than average. But when a series runs with the same old template formula for something like 90+ chapters (Of OPM’s original webcomic), it eventually inevitably becomes its own cliche- regardless of how fresh the template formula initally was. Onepunch-Man is a one-trick-pony…

  2. Glad to see that Heavy Object and Gundam are being picked up. A bit sad to see that Owarimonogatari is not but hopefully that’ll change once the season actually starts. If not you guys will still do Monthly Retrospectives, right? Hopefully it’ll be discussed in those if nobody changes their minds and picks it up.

  3. I’ve been wondering about whether to pick Gundam Tekketsu no Orphans or not as i’m neither a Gundam fan or familiar with the franchise. But seeing Enzo’s name up there, suddenly gave me this weird feelings that the show will somehow work for me.

Also, Owari no Seraph getting coverage is the least thing i expect here.

  4. Little sad that Divine isn’t taking Haikyuu (always loved his input and little facts of volleyball) but SUPER excited that Samu took it because he has a Tsukki bias (and second season Tsukki will shine) so I’m looking forward to his posts! 😀

    1. Fun fact: I’m 92% sure it was Samu’s application that made Divine want to blog about Haikyuu. Or if not his, someone’s,’cause I do believe Div only learned about the series when we were reading through those. Samu is the hidden founding father of RC Haikyuu blogging!

      1. Veins pop they did.

@rochichan: Thanks! I’m really looking forward to blogging it. I won’t be focusing as much on the logistics of volleyball as Divine did, since I only know as much as the series tells us, so my coverage may be slightly different.

  5. Who is this Not Covering person and why do they get so dang many shows to cover? Do they not have a life outside of RC? -.-

Really though, I couldn’t help but notice Cherrie’s lack of shows.. Is that subject to change as well or is she taking a break this season?

      1. Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? No, you clearly don’t know who you’re talking to, so let me clue you in. I do not go to the ecchi. I am the ecchi. A show gets blogged and you think I do it because it’s ecchi? No. I bring the ecchi!

(I’m not gonna lie, Passerby made the same joke when we were deciding on shows, so I had that response ready >:D)

    1. @Wanderer: Yeah, I was surprised that Stilts went all mecha (so far?) as well.

@Stilts: Change of pace/something different? Just curious. For some reason I figured you’d pick Utawarerumono, but it is a 2-cour show.

      daikama
      1. Heavy Objects is 2-cour as well, and I picked that up!

And yeah, I wanted a change of pace. There weren’t any fantasy shows that were REALLY grabbing me (though there are a few I’m still looking into), but some of the sci-fi stuff looked cool, so I figured why not?

As for Utawarerumono, since I still haven’t seen the first season (I know, I probably don’t have to in order to watch this season, but I’m a weirdo and would prefer to see at least an episode or two), I figured I’d leave it to an intro and see how I’m feeling after my move.

  6. Glad to see Subete ga F ni Naru and Sakurako-san being covered, looking forward to your coverage of those passerby and Samu!

Kinda disappointed to see Young Black Jack being left out in the cold though

    1. If you mean Log Horizon Season 3, probably Fall 2016. I don’t think it’ll be a full season, and given the writers pace, they could adapt Volumes 11 and 12 by that point and what he has written for 13. I’m thinking 13 episodes at most from DEEN. Given that Season 2 sold worse than the first season, and although the show is mostly funded by the network it airs on, they likely won’t want to do a full season again.

      Lyfe
      1. I love both! And I hope for more seasons of both. Though I feel like another season of Kyoukaisen is more unlikely than another of Log Horizon. And having no more of either would be sad 🙁

*wails to the unforgiving, uncaring heavens*

    1. We follow the same system that the Japanese broadcasters do. They reason that people don’t wake up at 1am to see a show, they stay up from the night before, so they attach it to the previous day. That’s how we’ve been doing it for years.

  7. I can’t hear you very well buy vigapro When it comes to gender splits – again in a possible challenge to preconceptions – men were found to be the biggest holiday spenders, allocating at least £918 each – compared with women who were set to spend an average of £830 this year.
