「かぐや様は許せない / かぐや様は許したい / 白銀御行は出かけたい」 (Kaguya-sama wa Yurusenai / Kaguya-sama wa Yurushitai / Shirogane Miyuki wa Dekaketai)
“Kaguya Won’t Forgive / Kaguya Wants to Forgive / Miyuki Shirogane Wants to Go Somewhere”
Expect the unexpected. Of course, that’s only if you haven’t read the manga.
The dynamic between Kaguya and Shirogane is clearly evolving. What used to be arguments motivated by pride has now turned into an actual lover’s spat. This is the typical kind of escalation you’d find in any relationship-based argument provoked by pent up emotions. It seems they’re discovering for themselves that dishonesty and withholding their true intentions will often result in a loss for both sides. I was pretty surprised to find out Kaguya was frustrated because Shirogane didn’t take advantage of her but I was even more taken aback by the fact that she reached out to touch his lips. Ballsy! I would never in a million years be able to do that to a friend, let alone a crush. I’m slowly inching my way over to her side now that she’s shown some real inner strength rather than resorting to deception. She left both Shirogane and I in awe.
Shifting over to Chika, I really did wish she could read the room. Can you imagine the potential development had Kaguya and Shirogane successfully fed each other cake? ~ dokidoki ~ Predictably enough, after Ishigami runs out in a panic to get her, Chika makes a swift appearance and ‘resolves‘ the hour-long standoff.
In general, the characters’ reactions have been somewhat predictable, I assume because of the genre, however this episode brought out some pretty out-of-character reactions from Kaguya. She’s bashful, she’s adorably insecure about whether or not she’s attractive enough, and she gives off the best blank stare I’ve seen in the series yet. I actually can’t believe she’s been so effortlessly defeated. I guess the Chika effect is Kaguya’s kryptonite, huh?
That said, we’re finally inching into the peak of the season. We’re headed into summer break and although it might not include a steamy sleepless night away from the city between our protagonists, I’m definitely looking forward to August 24th’s matsuri. I bet Chika’s fear of missing out buys her an expensive plane ticket back to Japan right in time for the festivities and I’ll add onto that bet that Kaguya will stun both Ishigami and Shirogane by wearing a gorgeous yukata.
>hotdamn we have kuugaya appearance this early. and even somewhat melted kuugaya a second later, absolutely forgot this moment in manga.
>hell yeah, war-criminal-kashi subplot appears. and they actually executed it abit better then manga did imho. point is, the switch from TIS FOR A FRIEND to kashi outright talking to kaguya and kaguya herself straight abandoning the notion is way-way clearer here. it was more subtle in the manga and people actually missed it, myself included, until pointed out.
>/ourguy/ straight out meta-shitting on romcoms and on his own goddamn manga in the process. aka-sensei, you beasto.
>tsundere-senpai, we love you. please be strong.don’t remember if manga had her in this moment, but i’m abit hazy in the head around the fireworks part due to…reasons. Show Spoiler ▼
>so…the red wedd, ahem. the foreshadowing for future in the eyes of kaguya. prepare, anime only peeps, next week gonna be, erm, interesting.

Should have screenshot the moment when Kaguya went into zen and enjoyed breathing.
Also, Ishigami being blunt and unforgiving was a blessing for both Kaguya and Shirogane this time.

Chika deserved the smack-down he gave her, so I was so glad to see him get two pats on the back.

Ourguy!
This is why I’m amazed by this show. Kaguya and Shirogane carry their bag of problems and are often unbearable arrogant, but they are still very likeable.
“Can you imagine the potential development had Kaguya and Shirogane successfully fed each other cake?”
I can imagine, but really, we all knew the cake was a lie ^.^
I’m not sure if I asked this, but – Misssimplice, do you know the manga, or are you anime-only?
If it’s the latter, you’re in for a treat now ^_^

This episode can be when Kaguya’s VA can deliver her masterpiece. She has been utterly fantastic up to now. If she can properly pull it off…
I have high hopes.
Anime only! I wanted to start reading but I realized I wouldn’t be experiencing it the same way!
oh wait a week, we’ll be here waiting for a change of your tune 🙂
I melted when Kaguya touched Shirogane’s lips. There’s still some gradual plotting with how they try to get each other to make the first move first, but with the progress of this and the fireworks festival they’re planning on going to, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next and plan on keeping up with the manga after the season is over.
This couple started off putting up tight defenses and not wanting to let the other have any sort of advantage over the other – “I can’t do this, he’ll know!!”. But now they’re feeding each other, admitting to touching lips, ACTUALLY TOUCHING THE OTHER’S LIPS, showing each other their vulnerable side that the other could mercilessly expose them for – but they don’t, because they’re too busy blushing like idiots. Lovely 😛

Breathing is…fun
