「日常20」 (Nichijou 20)
“My Ordinary Life 20”
I think this is the first time Nichijou has spent so much time on one skit. Amongst all of the “I’ve totally done that” moments, it never even occurred to me that someone would have the balls to mess with someone’s manuscript. When I think about all the time it takes to physically draw in all the borders, screen tones, characters, backgrounds, and text for a single chapter; it just blows me away how Mai could even think about messing with something as labor intensive as this. Sure it was funny watching her devilishly twist Mio’s instructions and inputting her own creative ideas, but I don’t know how Mio put up with it — I would have told Mai to GTFO after the first time.
It makes me feel really bad for Yukko since she ended up taking the brunt of Mio’s anger. After watching her feel horrible about making a mistake, I thought it was super polite of her to not only take Mio’s feelings into consideration but apologize without trying to give any kind of excuse. But even though she obviously understood how pissed Mai was making her, it baffles me how far she decided to push Mio with those jokes of her’s. Actually, I think I was more surprised with how Mio replayed each and every joke, making sure to yell at Yukko louder each and every time. While it’s always a treat watching her Mio go crazy, I kind of wish she went off on Mai instead!
With the mangaka skit taking up most of the episode, I was surprised with how good the other segments were even though they were so short. I couldn’t put my finger on what show Nano and Sakamoto were imitating, but the second I saw Sakamoto run off like a certain Great Dane shouting out a certain catchphrase, I giggled as my childhood rushed back to me. You know, Sakamoto needs to drop that high and mighty façade of his. As cool as it feels to be regarded as a senior (or senpai), I bet you he always feels like letting loose whenever Nano and Hakase are playing with each other.
P.S. This is the cutest pose Sakamoto has been in, ever. Also, the Ending Sequence will be added later. Sorry for the inconvenience.
this was hilarious im gonna miss this show
WORD!!!! its not even over yet, and I’m getting that nervous preemptive feeling that comes before loss.
Wow, I’m gonna be like, MiyazakiDepressed when the last episode is done. Hakase.. :'<
Really loved this episode. I was laughing pretty loudly for most of the episode. I hope they get to make a second season eventually. This show has been able to make me want to watch it again and again. At the same time, it makes me expect even more in the next episode.
Nothing like the riot compared to last weeks but still very funny.
Can totally relate to Yukko’s mishap with the mechanical pencil. I cringed and felt the pain just by recalling it. I remember shoving a pen down my palm by accident. It hurts like hell.
In any case Mai’s trolling went too far on this one but since this is a show where you just let go of any seriousness let’s let it slip.
What I can’t deny is the fact that this show has a lot of new talent with GREAT potential. I’d be tempted to post the character image songs here but Divine would probably
killscold me in the process. All the character image songs are catchy as hell. But mainly the voice given by Mariko Honda(Yukko’s VA) in the image song was spectacular. Her variety of range is impressive. Same goes for Mai Aizawa(Mio’s VA). Her spastic voice is easily one of the most enjoyable elements of the show. Just love the way she said Hyacinth. Kinda disappointed with Mai’s image song since she didn’t sing with her regular voice. Still though the premise of the songs were hilarious. She trolled Hyadain in one of the songs.
In any case, I’d suggest anyone watching this show to listen to character songs.
Oh and BTW. Is it me or does this mean something else. It makes me think it was done deliberately considering the circumstances.
I don’t think it means anything…I realized that I use my middle finger to push up my glasses when I don’t adjust them from the sides of the frame. Probably because it is the longest finger so you don’t have to have your hand so close to your own face.
Well I do that at times but that index finger is bent too far down don’t you think. No matter, nobody can tell what the staff had in mind when they animated this. I just found it funny and quite unexpected considering Akira(Lucky Star) blatantly pulled it off back then.
It’s stuff like this that keeps my vote for best character of this series firmly at Sakamoto. I felt so sad when he was ‘it’ and they just walked away T_T
Oh yeah quoted from Mai
I still imagine what if Mai work with Kubo’s whitetastic backgrounds and inkspills.
I wonder what Mai would do if she worked for Shaft.
I don’t think Mai can work for anyone without getting fired after a day XD . She probably works best on her own.
I couldn’t stop laughing at nano’s reaction to the manga XD I went back and watched it again twice!
And of course I always love how casually the red-haired sisters carry around those massive weapons o_O It’s the little stuff like that that makes me love this anime ~.~
I’d venture that this atrilce has saved me more time than any other.
ah I’m surprised Mio didn’t kill Mai over all of her shenanigans
“Doing it in the cemetary”. Kinky Mai is. She really knows how far to push Mio and Yuko without them exploding. Must be becasue she moves at Mai Pace.
Mio exploding at Yuko is understandable after the coin flip, “its cold outside.” and “i’m coming down with a cold” stuff. Still its very funny to watch expecially Yuko doing all those stupid stuff.
Sakamoto is forever off the pace of Nano and Hakase. Mai’s dog seems to troll her as well. Like master like dog, though in fairness that sitting on the newspapers you were reading does happen if you read them on the floor
Did she just flip us?

Mai has a trolling dog!!
@Takaii: Was Yuko really trying to relax Mio? Seems like she is wasting precious time as the deadline is near. Making stupid jokes and flipping a coin. I’ll get mad too if someone does not do what he/she is supposed to do but make jokes and excuses without making a move on.
“You know, Sakamoto needs to drop that high and mighty façade of his. As cool as it feels to be regarded as a senior (or senpai), I bet you he always feels like letting loose whenever Nano and Hakase are playing with each other.”
Agreed. Shiraishi should unwind behind the microphone a lot more.
… and after the commercial, I’m going to yell EVEN LOUDER!
DON’T MISS IT!!
Yabadabado!!!

Poor Mio, good thing her sister decided to troll the Tachibana sisters (the red-haired sisters) instead of joining Mai and Yuuko in trolling her this week or I think she’ll literally explode. lol

A new yaoi fangirl is born…

However, this week’s epic OTT LMAO-ness for me has to go to Yuuko’s mechanical pencil pain.

Yay Nichijou! Personally, I didn’t find Mio’s ranting as funny because it was so obviously a plot device, but the rest of the episode was good. I love this show.
I found Mai’s trolling to be crossing boundaries this time around. I understand that she is a character whose sole purpose is to troll and evoke an exasperated remark from the comedic straight-man, but this is just way too much. I was honestly hoping that Mio would throw her out out the window >_<
I don’t know if it was intentional or not but the “MAI! MAI PACE DAIYOOO!!!” caught me by surprise. I laughed pretty hard after that.
Sakamoto was a complete doll the entire episode. He played it off flawlessly after getting the short end of the stick. ::be natural::
Mai has officially become the biggest jerk of the series. Sure she trolls for the humor, but yeah, definitely crossed to “that’s simply mean” territory. Makes me question whether or not Mai is really Yukko’s and Mio’s friend. Hmm, who is the bigger troll? Mai or Mio’s sister?
Anyway, I agree with others, another awesome episode.
Wow, Mai is really an a****** by this point. Mio needs to flee and take just take Nano with her. Though Nano didn’t seem to take Mio’s fujoshiness well.
And after finishing that episode, I’m done with this show. Mai killed it. I hate her so much at this point.
I hope someone makes a gif file about Sakamoto doing the ‘terrified cat dance’.
Here you go.
