First Impressions / To LOVE-Ru

Impressions:
Wow, they pretty much pulled in just about everyone for this episode didn’t they? I don’t know what it is about sports festival episodes in anime, but I usually enjoy them for various reasons. I think one of them is probably because I have an interest in all the unique competitions Japan has at the high school level (i.e. a cultural interest), but in this case, it was undoubtedly because of the humorous, ecchi spin they put on everything. It was more or less a parody of Japanese sports festivals. You could see where things were going most of the time, but that in itself was pretty funny for me. It started with the principal‘s perverted stretching exercises and continued on until the three-legged horse / calvary competition… in a pool that Saki brought out from nowhere. Ren was surprisingly funny to me this time around, as his “being a man” train of thought led to him retrieving a legendary sword for one particular relay. While a lot of swimsuits were cut up thanks to Saki, those scenes were fairly innocent fan-service-wise this time around.

Next time, it looks like we’ll finally see what appears to be a true harem and the introduction of yet another new character. As for who the best/greatest man in the universe is, I’m a bit unsure at this point. Could it be our earnest Rito…?

  5. i knew that episode 13 would be the episode were we c the father of lala but didn’t expect the blond chick(probably lala’s mom) on the preview to show up

  10. Oh, and you guys saying that this is borderlining Kanokon….you guys couldn’t be blowing it anymore out of proportion. I haven’t seen any @$$-licking here. -_-

  19. LOL! I just realized that the sword Ren is carrying, has the triforce symbol on it from Zelda. I’m liking this show more and more and its beats the living crap out of Kanokon.

  21. uhm it’s three episodes they’re making up stupidities. The point of Rito always unwillingly ending touching Haruna’s *treasures* is getting boring…
    Now we’re so far off the manga storyline. I wonder why they simply don’t drag episodes directly from the manga and animate them…
