Fullmetal Alchemist – CM3
The third commercial for the new Fullmetal Alchemist series aired with today’s episode of Gundam 00, and it showed some more footage of the new series, more exciting than the last commercial. Again, I’m not sure if it’s new footage since it’s been ages since I’ve seen the show, but this time there were a lot of the old characters shown including Mustang, Hughes, Armstrong, Hawkeye, Lust, and Gluttony, plus Al and Ed again. Fullmetal Alchemist is slated to replace Gundam 00 starting April 5th, 2009.

And yes its a new footage.
All it can be deduced from the fact that character designs are more manga-based.
Most noticeable with Mustang and Riza.
Also – the animation quality. I am quite sure thats not the old footage.
However footage itself seems to not be from first episode of new series. If anything, I’d say its mostly OP footage. :)

Hmm… A shot of Mustang torching something in an alley. Definitely going the manga route, and that scene should help defray some of the OMGWTF! lost by already knowing some of the spoilers of manga events that also occurred in the original anime.

Well quigonkenny there’s still a lot of people who haven’t, and there’s us who have, but it’ll still hit ;_;
so i heard they’ll be doing is from the beginning and manga only. So for those who haven’t read it but have seen the anime, they’ll be quite some changes so everyone should see it again.

hell… i really liek the idea of having the manga as the main storyset this time… i mean each chapter is so f***ing awesome. so yeah, really looking forward to it. :D
if i would need to give an indicator for it, i would say that al is showing more action and whats more, the background of the 12th second would remind me more of the manga.
can’t be sure yet, but still hoping. ^^

I heavily approve. April is going to be godly due to this. The fact that they are basing the character designs more like the manga (as Unknown said, Mustang, Riza, and even Ed in the last photo) means that Bones is serious about sticking to the manga. I can only hope the action sequences are atleast as good as the manga and that we get the manga ending.

I haven’t read the early chapters of the manga for quite a while, but I remember the first half being close enough to the manga… I’m not sure if I want to sit through all that again…
On the other hand it may give enough time for the manga to finish b/c it seems close to that point…

Even though anime kept close to mange, they still changed plenty and the have to show that Homunculi are not created by failed resurrections,…
and i think that BECAUSE the manga is ending they’re making the anime so we will have the manga ending.
