Summary:
-Having arrived back in Rekoruto, Syaoran and company need to find a place to hide from the authorities until Mokona feels better. After taking refuge in a library, Sakura falls asleep with Mokona in her arms while Syaoran starts reading one of the books.
-Fye mentions how Syaoran is like a different person when he’s reading. This statement causes Kurogane to remember the fight with the fiery beast back inside Sakura’s memory of Clow Country and how Syaoran had acted like a different person during that fight. Syaoran himself can’t remember what happened back then.
-Fye finds another reproduction of the Book of Memories. Fye thinks they can use it to peer into Syaoran’s past and get a hint into solving the mystery of Syaoran. Kurogane comments on how Fye won’t talk about his own past but instead wants to enter someone else’s.
-Unfortunately, Kurogane screws up and opens the book accidentally when Sakura catches him with it. Doing that records his memories inside. Syaoran comes over, picks up the book, and opens it. Being the second person, Syaoran is able to see the memories of the first person. In other words, he enters Kurogane’s memories again. Kurogane realizes what happened too late.
-While Syaoran is lost in the memory, the Rekoruto forces arrive at the library. Fye has Kurogane move a bookshelf into place, using the same magic that hid the tunnel in the central library to create a magic wall here in order to buy them some time.
-Syaoran sees Souma fighting against Kurogane and Princess Tomoyo stopping them. Tomoyo has something she wants to show Kurogane back at the castle: the Ginryuu sword. Tomoyo had promised that she’d have one made since the original was buried with Kurogane’s mother.
-In order to have the Ginryuu, Tomoyo makes Kurogane agree to five oaths. 1. He needs to act peacefully towards his comrades. 2. He doesn’t commit an act of violence inside the castle. 3. He can’t forget mercy, even towards an enemy. 4. He can’t handle someone’s life roughly. Tomoyo then summons images of Kurogane’s parents. The fifth and final oath is that he must protect the people that he loves with his strength. Kurogane has no problem agreeing to this, so Tomoyo gives him the sword and Kurogane is able to see his parents one last time.
-Back in the real world, the Rekoruto forces have broken through the magic wall, so Kurogane goes out to fight them. Mokona tells Fye and Sakura that he can sense the sparkling feelings inside of Kurogane, as if he made a promise with someone.
-Finished with Kurogane’s memories, Syaoran joins the fight. However, there’s not actually a fight to be had. The women from the central library explain that the feather was causing insecurity in the nation, so Syaoran’s group was actually doing a good thing by getting rid of it. Syaoran turns down their offer for medals and apologizes for the disturbance they caused. Mokona is feeling better now, so he can take everyone to the next world.

Preview:

-I’m surprised they actually went back and more or less concluded all of the Kurogane past stuff right now. I’m not the most up to date with the manga (I’m around chapter 110 at the moment), but I’m sure Syaoran didn’t return to Kurogane’s memories a second time during the Rekoruto arc. But I can’t complain because I really enjoyed that part, especially since there was a Maaya Sakamoto insert song playing during that scene – 「スピカ」 (Spica) from the ED single.
-With all this talk between Kurogane and Fye about the past, I hope we get to see some of Fye’s past soon. You never know what they might throw into the fillers.
-Next week is Kero-chan! I’m hoping for lots of Cardcaptor Sakura references.

  1. Actually, LeCourt did have the flashbacks to Kurogane’s past in the manga. However, all the flashbacks in this episode were NOT in the manga. These flashbacks are entirely made up by BeeTrain. And Tomoyo looks so ugly in this episode.

  2. They’re still deviating from the manga a bit…

  4. Hm… so they don’t fight their way out of the library? Oh well…
I can enjoy both, Manga & Anime, so i really don’t have much problems with changes or fillers.
Can’t wait for Kero-chan, i really like him. xD

Oh, and thank you for blogging this series ^^

  5. Well, manga and anime are taking two differents directions, I think is gonna take long time till they reach the manga, becuase the manga is going too fast.
In my opinion, the manga and the anime don’t have to be the same, and I’m ok with it.

  6. I’m curious to see if they’re actually going to mention that Makona was friends with CCS Kero-chan. CLAMP even wrote a whole picture book about how Yuuko and Clow Reed made the two makona’s. I somehow doubt that the animation staff even cares about background information and will somehow manage to completely disregard it.

I need reassurance that not all anime adaptations are crap.

  8. What?! No! The filler looks pretty fun. Normally I wouldn’t mind seeing it but they’ve placed it at totally the wrong time and pretty much thrown off all the drama that was suppossed to come at the end of this arc.

    SPOILERS

Fai using his magic leading up to the Tokyo arc. That opportunity is pretty much lost.

  9. So in other words, they hobbled together a shabby excuse for a filler plot and made Fai’s magic almost inconsequential so they could completely rape Kurogane’s character by showing flashbacks of Kurogane ‘coming to peace’ with his parents’ deaths, all to make the show ‘more appropriate…’

  10. oh well… no more eps? At least this isn’t moving faster than the manga scans…*thinks of Fai at the end of 124 and 125* I don’t really mind the ep, really…but I don’t like it when they completely make things (important things) up before the manga could unravel them…later we might even see worse…Fai’s past? Argh…animation isn’t really bad, but at least they could follow the story…

  11. wow, i didn’t realise you were back, i haven’t come here since the break, so i was surprised when i found new entries. and I really can’t wait for “kerochantomokona” heh, i have been watching raws, thanks for filling me in on what is happening vs what my mind tells me what it says… my mind doesn’t work that great.

  12. That ended quite differently in the manga, the ending for the world was quite “hostile” in the manga. And as stated, noone returned in anyone’s past. The “past talk” Fye and Kurogane had was in a different world.

Fillers, fillers, fillers… Seems like they want to build the last part for the Tokyo world. I wonder if they’d kill Xing Huo in the anime too.

IMO, fillers are good sometimes, but since they do not really have any “real” connection to the story, the anime ends up being “less interesting” in a sense… hopefully they just stick to the main story (okay change some things here and there, but still continue the flow)…
