Natsuiro Kiseki – 01

「11回目のナツヤスミ」 (Ju-Ichi-Kaime no Natsu Yasumi)
“Our 11th Summer Vacation”

This show has a lot of potential. Good pacing, deft atmosphere, likable characters, and hook at the end that left me wondering what will come next. And that’s the key word, “wonder.” Life leaves many of us cynical and jaded, but this show opens up the heart to the gentle wonder of what could be. Are you willing to believe again, even for just half an hour?

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? OF THE DEAD – 01

「はい、今再びの魔装変身!」 (Hai, Ima Futatabi no Masou Henshin!)
“Yes, Yet Another Masou Transformation!”

After writing this post, I can no longer become a politician. All my opponents would have to do is find this one post, read the words I have written, look at the screenshots I have laboriously selected, and that’s it. “Yeah, this is why,” they’d say, pointing to the screen. “This is why you don’t want that guy.” And you know what? I don’t care because this show is hilarious!!

Ano Natsu de Matteru – 12 (END)

「あの夏で待ってる。」 (Ano Natsu de Matteru.)
“Waiting in the Summer.”

Multiple times during this final episode, I thought I had figured out how everything would end. Every time, I was wrong. But I’m okay with this, because the end result was perfect for what this show has always been – a beautiful love story. Final impressions inside.

Rinne no Lagrange – 12 (END)

「またいつの日か、鴨川で」 (Mata Itsu no Hi ka, Kamogawa de)
“Until We Meet Again, In Kamogawa”

A haunting episode full of partings. I’m finding myself unable to quite put into words my feelings about this final offering, which isn’t an ideal situation for a writer to be in. Still, I’ll give it a shot. The final episode of Rinne no Lagrange season one, and some thoughts about the series over all. Let’s do this thing.

Zero no Tsukaima F – 12 (END)

「ゼロの使い魔」 (Zero no Tsukaima)
“The Familiar Of Zero”

After 50 episodes spread out over 4 seasons, the Zero no Tsukaima anime series has come to a close. There was a bit of a bang, and a bit of a whimper, but the most important thing got a resolution in the end. And no, it wasn’t that whole silly Ancient Dragon thing. Gotta resolve that harem!

High School DxD – 12 (END)

「約束、守りに来ました!」 (Yakusoku, Mamori ni Kimashita!)
“I’m Here to Keep My Promise!”

This episode contained an epic confrontation against an apparently immortal foe, and included plenty of sacrifice, surprising reveals, a meddling onii-sama, and romance to boot. Oh, and there was only one panty flash the whole time. Yes, we’re still talking about High School DxD here! Read on for final impressions.

Ano Natsu de Matteru – 11

「行かないで、先輩。」 (Ikanaide, Senpai.)
“Don’t Leave, Senpai.”

No matter how much it hurts, no matter how much it lessens the chance of them being with their beloved, these six friends always do what is best for one another. If nothing else, I think that’s why this show is amazing. Friendship, through thick and thin, no matter how weak or hopeless each of them are alone. A beautiful love story. A beautiful friendship story.

Zero no Tsukaima F – 11

「ルイズの選択」 (Ruizu no Sentaku)
“Louise’s Choice”

I sometimes get the feeling that this anime isn’t doing the source material justice. That’s pure conjecture since I haven’t read the light novels, but there are occasional flashes of high-quality fiction that hint at deeper stories not told. This episode was one of those flashes. Oh Louise, whyyy~!!
