「幾千年物語」 (Ikusennen monogatari)
“A Tale for the Ages”
I can feel it — We’re about to experience something insane on this wild emotional rollercoaster.
General Impressions
Wow, it took sixteen (technically fifteen) episodes for the show to finally tell us Senku’s full name and boy who would have thought that it’d be one of the biggest reveals to date? That and who would have thought that Senku as a kid was actually super cute?
Jumping into the actual flashback, it must be wild for Senku to hear someone tell him his past even though it’s been thousands of years since it happened. From his perspective it all happened less than ten years ago but through the miracle of human ingenuity, an entire civilization (or rather their priestess’s) have known about the kid who would one day appear. That and when you consider the various things that had to happen for all of that to become reality, Byakuya must have had some serious faith that Senku would one day be able to overcome the petrification — enough faith that he would go and provide something for his beloved son hundreds if not thousands of years down the line.
That said, this first part of the flashback focused on the moments right before the mysterious green light wiped out the world and a really interesting point has to be that the six members on the ISS were safe from the effects. Looking back on the episode, I feel like that this has to be a huge point to remember for the future since it means that whatever caused the petrification has a maximum effective range. While it may not matter now since the damage has already been done, I can’t help but think that this has to be an important point for the future.
All in all, what a fantastic episode that gave a bit more depth and understanding to all the things that have lead to where things are currently. Honestly, who would have expected that a group of astronauts would be the ones who somehow managed to jumpstart civilization back on the earth? Man, I can’t wait for next week to give us more details on how it all went down and how they all managed to do it. In any case, I’ll catch you guys next week where I hope all of these new questions will get an appropriate answer. See you then!

As you now can see, there are many similarities with this ones on the ISS and now in the Village. Are they their Ancestors?

But also.. do Senku have now a greater Family he do not know about? Do his Father “make” Children with these Woman’s? i bet.

Also.. do to this instant Petrification. I do hope the Emergency Shutdowns on some Live threaten Critical Installations do their work and nothing serious will happen
soon the Electricity on Earth will Shut down…
The series continues to be pretty much a perfect adaptation of the manga, but there was some small changes from the source material that I think were actually for the better. The series expanded ever so slightly on Lillian, both her popularity and her backstory. In the manga it was mentioned she was a pop star and they did the bit where she tricked everyone on the space station and later showed her doing a live stream from the station but that was it. It was nice to see a bit more about who she is, in particular that talk she had with Byakuya late at night since I don’t believe that existed at all before.

So it wasn’t 3,700 years of inbreeding responsible for Kohaku and Ruri’s uguu-faces, it was her.

“Damn, of course washing machines aren’t going to work properly in zero-g”
lol that washing machine joke got me.
Fitting that we get an annoucement for a spinoff manga about Senku’s dad right after this episode airs.

Not clicking on the spoilers above, but my guess (and hope) is that it’s not something as simple as Dad just doing the naughty with Ms. pop star and whoever else willing, turning Ruri & Kohaku into some sort of of sisters of Senku. Some kind of cloning maybe?
That promotional image makes a whole lot more sense now.
Ugh such a heartwarming backstory, to know that Senku’s dream stemmed from his Father’s dream.
Now begs my question, whether the villagers are ancestors of all the astronaut including Byakuya – cause I know this is minor but I ship Kohaku and Senku and it would shatter my little dream if they’re meant to be related. Granted it is 3000 years ago, but they’ve managed to keep to a relatively controlled pool of 40 villagers haha.
That the characters on the ISS are going to play a major part in the survival of the human race goes without saying. However, I would wager that the “sacrifices” that they have to make have to make are not as drastic as the preview lets on. Moreover, I would say that they are going to be the progenitors of the new age of culture describes this far in the show.
