「収穫祭」 (Shuukakusai)
“Harvest Festival”
The new focus this episode has on one event, the festival, clearly shows. Although there are various subplots occurring still, their main focus is centered around one environment, making the story more fluid and definitely easier to follow. While they do give hints and foreshadowing to the eventual rescue of Hasegawa, who presumably is now in France, the action quickly goes back to the antics of the festival, which I found to be just as humorous as the spring festival! I suppose that when free food is on the line, anything…or anyone can be overcome.
The ‘educational’ content also keeps streaming in as well, this time concerning the brewing of a beverage unique to Mexico. Although people suggest that the educational content gets in the way of the plot, this episode’s knowledge meshed better with the plot, mainly because it played into the shadiness of our two masterminds. At first I had thought this was Kawahama and Misato’s nutty plan, but apparently they have something else up their sleeves. If I had to guess though, their plans are still to make some ridiculous big buck for the lab, whilst pocketing some for themselves. How this ties with an idol that faintly resembles Yuuki though has yet to be seen. It’s such a shame though that the bunny girl part of their plan didn’t come to fruition, but instead backfired and gave us a Mutou that bordered on a lazy NEET look…
Speaking of other side characters though, it looks like Oikawa’s finally recovering from her attempts at a burst of character (and late partying). Her character didn’t get better because everyone else was irritated at Hasegawa and the schemer’s absence, but rather she stopped trying so hard as a character. What perfect timing too, as it seems that when the festival arc ends, all the characters will get fresh new starts as they go on saving the damsel in distress…where the damsel is a sadist who rips people’s faces.
Next week looks to probably cover the night events of the festival, which will probably culmunate in the ‘close but no cigar’ resolution of the trouble duo’s elaborate plot, as well as information from the professor concerning Hasegawa.
Omake
Wonder how they judge which stand is most popular to win the prize money. And can’t wait to see how the duo’s plans affect the cute little idol (who looks a lot like a younger version of Kei).
This may very well be Moyashimon’s return to form. The general zaniness of the school, the wacked out alcohol, the microbes insulting Sawaki, Kawahama’s and Misato’s get rich quick schemes and everything which made the original work was here and done well. I’ll definitely be looking forward to more of this arc.
It’s Like Black Friday
It would have been great if Kei’s VA was a man. Oh well Kei’s pretty cute for a trap that never actually pretended to be a girl.
The idol really does look like Yuuki’s little sister!
I was starting to get disappointed with the 2nd season up to episode 4. Glad to see it’s back to good ol’ shenanigans! Let the fun begin!
Never underestimate the strength of the demanding housewives…
