Welcome to Gunslinger Stratos: a world where flashes of potential hide among a multitude of questions and a lackluster introduction.
「果てなき荒野」 (Hatenaki Kouya)
“An Endless Wasteland”
Prepare your appetites for a season full of foodporn and foodgasms.
「大切な場所」 (Taisetsu na Basho)
“Precious Place”
Who are these people supposed to be?
「冒険者(ベル・クラネル)」 (Bouken-sha (Beru Kuraneru))
“Bell Cranel Adventurer”
Good animation, pacing, and likable characters are juxtaposed by a plot that’s uninspired and, frankly, a little chauvinistic. I’m not sure how I feel about this one on the whole, though I don’t hate it so far … with some caveats.
As we’re all getting pumped up for the spring season, let’s not forget to reflect on the winter shows which recently ended. This post has been delayed (partially due to me) because we wanted to get all the shows wrapped up before doing our final impressions. This is reflective of most of the series our writers have finished this season and hopefully we can give you a good idea of shows you’ve missed which we thought were worthwhile. If there’s anything that we missed, please feel free to discuss those shows below and maybe it’ll give us some suggestions of what we should catch-up on. With that said, happy spring everyone! Hope it’s warm where you are!
「思い出うごうご」 (Omoide Ugougo (7.5))
“Wriggling Memories”
While it may have been a little slow for a first episode, I’ll give the writers props for not making it so otaku focused as the first season’s was. That and I’m still impressed with how much they managed to pack into a mere 3 minutes.

「転校生/LR/転校生の時間・2時間目」 (Tenkousei/LR/Tenkousei no Jikan: 2nd Period)
“Transfer Student/LR/Transfer Student: 2nd Period Time”
Koro-sensei is stepping up his game as the difficulty exponentially ramps up, just in time for the second cour.

A shounen adventure through and through, Nanatsu no Taizai avoids many of the pitfalls of typical never-ending shounen to give us a story that never lets up, never gets boring, and never lets the excitement diminish … all while giving us a real conclusion with world-changing effects by the end.

If you’re not a fan of sports anime, this might just be the one to change your mind. |
For all that there are myriad qualities that can make an anime great, there’s just no substitute for sincerity.
