Senkou no Night Raid – 07
「事変」 (Jihen)
“Incident”
I can sort of see why this series isn’t actively fan-subbed, because unless you’re pretty fluent in Japanese, know your Asian history fairly well, and have an inquisitive attention span, it can get a bit difficult to follow at times. In my case, I was never formally taught Asian history in school, so I’m actually enjoying how much I’m learning about it from watching an anime.
RAINBOW: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin – 07
「Determination」
After witnessing exactly how corrupt Ishihara and Sasaki are, it was probably only a matter of time before somebody ended up getting killed in the juvenile corrections institute again. Regardless, I was still pretty shocked when I found out who their next victim turned out to be.
K-ON!! – 07
「お茶会!」 (Ochakai!)
“Tea Party!”
It may be just me, but the thought of former Sakura High student council president Sokabe Megumi (Kodama Asumi) having the hots for Mio played out very differently in my head than a mere tea party for Mio’s fan club.
Mayoi Neko Overrun! – 07
「迷い猫、乗った」 (Mayoi Neko, Notta)
“Stray Cat, Rode In”
Unlike Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou this week, Mayoi Neko makes it clear they’re straying from the norm with a Grand Braver super robot episode. If the gigantic robots weren’t indicative enough, then the screams of “Gattai!” should help stress that notion.
One Piece – 451
「起こせ最後の奇跡 正義の門を突破せよ」 (Okose Saigo no Kiseki – Seigi no Mon o Toppaseyo)
“Come, Final Miracle! Break Through the Gate of Justice!”
Bon-chan will go down in bro history.
Senkou no Night Raid – Special Chapter
「預言」 (Yogen)
“Premonition”
So as I mentioned last time, airing on television this week is a recap in lieu of episode seven that will be streamed online. However, that didn’t stop them from slipping in some key story at the very end, namely how Japanese militarists bombed their own South Manchuria Railway and blamed it on the Chinese to provide a pretext for war.
Uragiri wa Boku no Namae wo Shitteiru – 06
「光と絶望の境目」 (Hikari to Zetsubou no Saikaime)
“The Boundary Between Light and Despair”
After the somewhat brief introduction of Hotsuma and Shuusei last time, it was nice to see what the wielders of “God’s Voice” and “God’s Eyes” are capable of right away.
Arakawa Under the Bridge – 07
「7 BRIDGE」
You don’t have to be a psychic to figure that educating people living under a bridge with common sense wouldn’t go well. Surprisingly though, it wasn’t that bad until Stella showed up and demanded 100 trillion yen for running a school on her turf.
