Summer 2022 Schedule

Legend:

Now that every show (mostly) has had a few episodes to make its case, it’s time to tell you what we’ll be blogging this season. This is Random Curiosity’s Summer 2022 blogging schedule.

As per illustrious tradition, this is a tentative overview of our plans for the new season . . . or would be, but with multiple episodes under our belts, we’re pretty confident in our picks. Will some of them fall flat in the home stretch? Probably. This is what we’ll stick with for now, barring any unforeseen changes in the near future.

Summer 2022 Preview

Summer is the season of waves-surfing the water waves, suffering the heat waves, and of course-tuning into new anime on the air waves. This summer we have some sizzling sequels accompanied by several refreshingly cool new series. Wondering which of the many series to cool off in the summer heat with? Look no further – we can help you with that!

One of the biggest sequels to look out for this summer is Made in Abyss as Riko and Reg continue on their perilous and gripping journey. Other popular and well-loved shows returning from “vacation” are Hataraku Maou-sama!!, Love Live! Superstar!! and even the surprise continuation of Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e. Likewise for fans of older anime, we have a brand new addition to the Tokyo Mew Mew franchise with Tokyo Mew Mew New and even a new rendering of a classic franchise in the Kamen Rider spin-off Fuuto Tantei. Plus to round things out, the highly anticipated adaptation of Hoshi no Samidare.

But wait, theres more! Can’t get enough soccer with Aoi Ashi? Then try this upcoming soccer series Shoot! Goal to the Future. Missing school during the summer months? Have some cute shogi club romance with Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru and comedian club escapades in Teppen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Ah, yes – summer freedom is here at last and with it, Random Curiosity’s Summer 2022 Preview!

Now that every show has had a few episodes to make its case, it’s time to tell you what we’ll be blogging this season. This is Random Curiosity’s Summer 2017 blogging schedule.

As always, this is a tentative overview of our plans for the new season . . . is what we used to say, but with multiple episodes under our belts, we’re pretty confident in our picks. Will some of them blow up in our faces? Kami knows it’s happened before. But this is what we’re going with.

Summer 2017 Preview!

It’s summertime! You know what that means, right? Sun, surf, fizzy drinks on the beach, and a brand new season of anime! (Note: RandomC does not promise readers sun, surf, or fizzy drinks. You’re on your own there.) There are a ton of new adaptations this season, including the high-stakes school gambling drama Kakegurui, an adventure in the mysterious depths of Made in Abyss, a historical grand epic set in fantasy-Ottoman Empire with Shoukoku no Altair, and I’d better stop because I could go on for a while. Of course there’s also Fate/Apocrypha, the next entry in the Fate series and something between a sequel, a spin-off, and an adaptation. We all know we’ll be watching it anyway. Speaking of sequels, they’re uncharacteristically light this season, though we are getting more moe work drama in NEW GAME!!, another season of the over-the-top music/battle series Senki Zesshou Symphogear AXZ, and the return of old stalwarts like Saiyuuki RELOAD BLAST and Jigoku Shoujo: Yoi no Togi. Originals are in much the same boat, though I’ve got my eye on a few of them, such as the running-and-gunning espionage thriller Princess Principal and the Stan Lee-produced superhero action of The Reflection. In every season there are gems to be found, and it’s our job to suss them out for you. This is Random Curiosity’s Summer 2017 Preview!

06/28: Added Mahoujin Guru Guru to the season preview line-up!

Sousou no Frieren – 01 – 04

「冒険の終わり」 (Bōken no Owari)
“The Journey’s End”

「別に魔法じゃなくたって…」 (Betsuni Mahō Janakutatte…)
“It Didn’t Have to Be Magic…”

「人を殺す魔法」 (Hito o Korosu Mahō)
“Killing Magic”

「魂の眠る地」 (Tamashii no Nemuru Chi)
“”The Land Where Souls Rest”

It’s not about the destination, but about how you lived your journey. Excitement and sadness sprinkled in between segments of gratuity

Fall 2023 Preview

You know fall is here when the days grow shorter, the mornings cooler, school starts up, and anime, well, comes on in force. And oh boy is it here in force. As if a sign to show why you never mess with fall anime no fewer than 58 (!) shows populate this season, with everything from tried and true fan favourites to hotly anticipated adaptations and even some very intriguing originals guaranteed to make their mark. If the return of multi-season titans in Dr. STONE, Tokyo Revengers, and SPY x FAMILY aren’t enough to keep the hype train going, continuations to Goblin Slayer, Shield Hero, and Eminence in Shadow should more than do the trick. Need some adrenaline-fuelled pulp action to whet the appetite? Best be sure Dead Mount Death Play’s second half, Yoko Taro’s anime original battle royale KamiErabi, or the fantasy flavoured chaos of Ragna Crimson will more than meet the needs. Like things more on the down low? Give the eagerly awaited Sousou no Frieren a whirl, look into the manhua adaptation fun of Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu, or take a peek at the truly unknown OVERTAKE and Megumi no Daigo: Kyuukoku no Orange. And if that still isn’t enough, there’s always the harem hilarity of Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo, the dramatic historical Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, or the always pleasant countryside adventures in Mahoutsukai no Yome to round matters out.

Fall might herald the beginning of winter for many, but when it comes to anime it could easily be a season for the ages. This is Random Curiosity’s Fall 2023 Preview!

Summer 2023 Preview

The summer season is a fickle one. The blistering heat of the blazing sun can be brutal and intense. The cool rain you thought you’d be getting winds up being shrouded in a torrential downpour that makes enjoying the summer heat impossible. For both occasions, you’ll be forced to take shelter somewhere. But while you’re indoors or hunkered down in the shade, why not catch up on the summer anime season?

This is truly a season for sequels, so if you’ve been looking forward to seeing your favorite show return, chances are you’ll definitely find something that you’ve been anticipating in this season’s roster. For light novel adaptations, Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu needs no introduction considering how much hype it has built up since its first season. You can also look forward to new seasons of Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha, Bungou Stray Dogs, and Mononogatari to give you another chance to catch up with some of the newer and more beloved shows from recent years.

Need some peak shonen in your life? The return of BLEACH: Sennen Kessen-hen and two of the best arcs of JUJUTSU KAISEN are guaranteed to feed you well. If you hunger for something funny or romantic, the sequels and spin-offs to Hataraku Maou-sama!!, Masamune-kun no Revenge, Kanojo, Okarishimasu, and Horimiya -piece- may help satiate your appetite.

That’s not to say that new adaptations and originals won’t amaze you. Not when Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead promises to transport you directly into the heat of the action during a zombie rampage. The charming comedy Suki na Ko ga Megane wo Wasureta is a promising school-life anime that you might just fall in love with. If intense mind games are more your speed, then Liar Liar might prove to be the hidden ace up the summer season’s sleeves.

There are many more anime to look out for this summer, so, should you choose to spend your free time this season on catching up on new anime, we’ve got your back in recommending all of the hottest shows during the hottest of seasons in our seasonal anime guide.
