Summary:
A long, long time ago, there was a beautiful girl named Tsunderella (Takako) who was forced to work for her wicked sister-in-law Mariya.

A few quick things before I go to bed:

The big news of yesterday was that Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru was getting a second season according to Getchu. As excited as I was to hear this, I had my suspicions because I don’t consider Getchu to be a reliable source of news. Lo and behold, the site changed it’s news item a little earlier so that the second season part was no longer mentioned. It’s unclear at this point whether this was an incorrect report or if it was them jumping the gun and leaking something too early, so I wouldn’t get too excited yet in case this turns out not to be true. Sousei no Aquarion’s OVA, Wings of Betrayal, has a website now and a release date of Friday, May 25th, 2007. The website features a promo that plays the original opening song by AKINO, but it’s noteworthy that the credits list her singing a new theme song called 「素足」 (Suashi – Barefoot). For those of you following Pumpkin Scissors: I haven’t dropped the show, but recent circumstances have kept it at the bottom of my priority list in terms of catching up. I’ll try to get back up-to-date this weekend.

On one foggy morning, Yukari is out running and sees a figure far ahead of her.

Now that it’s October, the girls have switched to their winter uniforms and the student council is conducting a clothes check in front of the school.

It’s summer and that means Mizuho is trying out swimsuits in front of Mariya and Ichiko.

Summary:
In contrast to how Mariya easily accepts Ichiko, Yukari faints when she comes to Mizuho’s room and sees Ichiko halfway through Mariya’s body.

Where else can you find a genre that shamelessly flaunts underage girls as an object of desire, where every girl fulfills some sort of perverse fantasy, where the only human with a pair is the nondescript main character? To some, the Harem genre has become the general definition for anime itself – and for good reason – by the sheer number of shows produced, the Harem has gradually worked its way up. One can’t help but think that anime has evolved (or degraded) into a visual showcase for cute animated girls.

At breakfast, Mariya is excited because today is the first day that she’ll be working to recommend Mizuho for the Elder role.

Mizuho remains the object of admiration of all the girls, with everyone stopping to greet him on his way to school.

Earlier this week, a friend asked me what my favorite show this season was. My answer was “Negima.” If I had to say my top-three series for this new season, they’d be:

Negima!? is number one because it wowed me like no other show did. Maybe it’s because I didn’t have very high expectations or maybe it’s because Shinbo Akiyuki‘s style and approach to the series appeal to me so much. The animation production by Gansis/Shaft is also better than almost every other series out there. The show is weathering a lot of vocal criticism, but I personally love it and eagerly anticipate the type of alternate retelling that future arcs of the story will get.
