“The Student Council Staff Members Have Returned”

Half a year later and we have more of the perverted girls at Ousai Gakuen. Led by their fearless student council president Amakusa Shino (Hikasa Youko) and her wild imagination for all things sex-related, this OAD episode provided more of the same adult humor from last summer. For me, the jokes are still hit and miss, but there are some things this manga-bundled DVD episode touched upon (*cough*) that the television never did.

“Student Council Executives! Yeah!”

After faithfully following the manga for the past twelve episodes, the series finishes animating the second volume’s material and throws in an anime original look back on the days of SYD. Best part is, it’s nothing like we and Tsuda remember.

「一般的な恥じらいです／制服は半脱ぎが相場だよ／君なりの露出プレイじゃなかったのか？」

While I’ve said that Kotomi is a dangerous hormone-pumping sex-crazed teenager verging on Shino and Aria’s levels, I’m now inclined to believe that she’s worse than those two. Being younger and infinitely dumber, she has me believing that every brain cell of hers that would’ve been capable of learning is already filled with dirty thoughts.

While it’s nothing more than a big tease, I like to fool myself into believing that Takatoshi can actually end up with Shino one of these days. He’s more or less realized that he’d be on a lot of students’ hit lists if he dared make a move, but when there’s plenty of indication that she wouldn’t be opposed to the idea, I think it’s worth putting his life on the line.

Despite being mentioned in the preview last time, I completely forgot we were having a culture festival episode this week. All I remembered was Aria’s maid, Dejima Sayaka (Tamura Mutsumi), who turned out to be a little dirty-minded herself. It must be infectious in this world. Female perversion.

More so than swimsuit and beach episodes, I always enjoy watching sports festival ones. They’ll never measure up in terms of fan-service, but do provide a complete change of scenery with the same characters.

Hymen tearing, 3D rendered breasts, and ball gags. Those were what helped pushed the envelope this episode, but Kotomi busting out the “pedophilia” word in front of Suzu had to be right up there from an anime perspective.

A beach episode involving only the student council and an unplanned overnight stop at an inn because Yokoshima-sensei decided to get wasted on beers. It probably goes without saying that it was a “brilliant” script that translated well on screen. This time, they remembered to throw in some fan-service too. Booyah!

It’s Triple Booking’s Shiho, Karuna, and Yuri! As mentioned last time, the SYD version is Shino, Aria, and Suzu “secretly” taking on the roles of the idol group members from Ujiie Touzen‘s other gag manga, Idol no Akahon.

You just know Tsuda’s got it bad with the Ousai student council when his nightmares involve Shino and Aria being unusually normal and not spouting out a dirty joke every minute or so.

This series still never reaches laugh-till-you-cry levels with its quick delivery of gags, but I continue to enjoy its witty way of going about the perverse nature of it all.

On a school trip to Kyoto, school newspaper club president Hata Ranko (Arai Satomi) reveals how Shino and Aria’s jokes don’t seem to have as much punch without Takatoshi around to insert his comedic jab at the end. Surprisingly, the two of them still know when to stop on their own though.

The humor in this series hasn’t been nearly as hilarious as Mitsudomoe, but I still find it amusing on an unassuming level thanks to Shino and Aria’s perverted minds.

Well I’m impressed. GoHands may be going with a similar style as Princess Lover in this adaptation of a 4-koma gag manga, but it’s still a noticeable step up from their work there.
