Even with the school sports festival and Sakiko stripping down Yabecchi in his sleep, the humor felt a bit lacking last time. Luckily, this episode more than made up for it by going back to misunderstandings and finally bringing in the Gachi Rangers I mentioned back in the Summer 2010 Preview.

This may have been two omake combined into one episode, but I was actually looking forward to it since I enjoyed the Momotaro one. I felt it delivered as well, with Misaki’s improvised act in front of “Prince Takumi” being the highlight.

With the way things ended last time, I really didn’t know what to make of this episode coming in. The family drama aspect hasn’t been touched upon amidst all the kissing fetishes, so this third chapter of Kaoru’s arc gave some unexpected depth to the series as a whole.

After all my talk about propulsion and escape velocity back in episode four, it was pretty awesome to see those concepts put into effect against an orbital elevator-like Neuroi. With signs of jealousy from Eila and a duet insert song to make up with Sanya, this is easily one of my favorite episodes of the new season too.

Thanks to the groups over-interest in youkai/over-interest in free onsen and meals, the Paranormal Patrol ignore how incredibly creepy the professor is and fail to heed Rikuo’s warnings. With all the foreboding and hints, there is no doubt to the viewer from the beginning that they are walking into a trap.

In case you haven’t heard, the next chapter of the K-ON manga will be the last. This marks the end of series’ three-year run at four volumes and just a bit before the anime, which will likely conclude on a similar note with the girls’ high school graduation.

Last episode felt a bit lacking with Kozue’s occult fanaticism, so it was nice to learn that something came from her interest in Antoine de Saint-Exupéry‘s famous short novel, The Little Prince (a.k.a. “Hoshi no Ouji-sama”).
