Emerging Trends – The Absurdly Competent Loli

This time we have hotdogs for you. Wait…that doesn’t sound right.

Another week, another new type of post added to the Stilts Out Loud arsenal! Last week was the first in the Branching Out series, where we’ll explore various genres in attempt to convince those of you who don’t like them to give them a shot. This week the first in the Emerging Trends series, where we’ll tackle various topics, tropes, and trends with an eye towards exploration rather than advocacy. Let’s get started, shall we?

So, I noticed something this last season. I was sitting there watching a few of my favorite shows…

Possible spoilers in this post: Rinne no Lagrange. More after the jump…

Hyouka – 01

「伝統ある古典部の再生」 (Dentou Aru Koten-bu no Saisei)
“Revival of the Classics Club and its Traditions”

Nearly three weeks into the spring season and one of the hottest shows finally makes its debut. While Hyouka may not have been exactly what you were expecting, its first episode really highlighted the main reason I picked up the show — interesting mysteries that didn’t feel overly dramatic or too unrealistic.

Acchi Kocchi – 03

「無情なる雪合戦⇔調理実習(燃)」 (Mujouunaru Yukigassen to Chouri Jisyuu (Moe))
“A Ruthless Snowball Fight ⇔ Cooking Practice (Burn)”

For those following the golden give it at least three episodes rule, Acchi Kocchi gave a strong showing this week. If either the humor or the cuteness had been the main reason you’ve continued to watch, I’m sure this week’s episode immensely satisfied you.
