The start of this sequel is focusing a lot on Benitsubasa’s grudge against the ass-kicking she received at the hands of Yume at the end of season one, and I’m loving every minute of because she’s proving to be good comic relief.

So as expected, the return of ETU’s Natsuki Youtarou (Kusunoki Taiten) puts pressure on Sera to step up his game if he wants to keep his starting forward position. What I wasn’t expecting however is for Youtarou to be ETU’s top scorer, meaning Sera’s got his work cut out for him.

The humor in this series hasn’t been nearly as hilarious as Mitsudomoe, but I still find it amusing on an unassuming level thanks to Shino and Aria’s perverted minds.

For a science fiction series, I probably should have mentioned back in the season preview that there’s more to this one than a beautiful alien catgirl falling into the lap of our unassuming male protagonist Kakazu Kio (Tamura Mutsumi).

Taking the second half hour in noitaminA‘s recently expanding time slot is the adaptation of Ono Fuyumi‘s light novel Shiki (“Corpse Demon”). She’s best known for her work in the Twelve Kingdom series, but is no stranger to the horror genre as her Ghost Hunt series has already been adapted into a very enjoyable anime.

Being a drama, this series didn’t get any mention in the Summer 2010 Preview, but is actually airing in the top noitaminA time slot this season. The 11-episode anime adaptation aired in the noitaminA time slot back in fall 2007, and most of its episodes were covered here.

Oh man, there’s nasty and then there’s jet stream of snot and swimming in urine nasty, the latter of which Mitsudomoe dives into head first. It may be unsanitary as hell and downright disgusting, but that doesn’t stop it from being absolutely hilarious either!

The outcome of last episode’s cliffhanger was anticlimactic to say the least, as Misaki didn’t even fall asleep thanks to all the sweet talking from Takumi. To her, it was just his perverted idiocy that kept her up though, which I wasn’t the least bit surprised to hear.
