Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Gaiden – 04,05

04:「過去じゃないです」 (Kako ja nai desu)
“This Isn’t the Past”

05:「あなたが割って入る隙間なんてないんですよ?」 (Anata ga Wattehairu Sukima Nante Nain desu yo?)
“There’s No Place for You Here”

In that single moment, Mifuyu exposed the limitations of Madoka Kaname’s Wish.

Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Gaiden – 01

「「やぁやぁ、知ってる?魔法少女のその噂」 (Yaa yaa, Shitteru? Mahō Shōjo no Sono Uwasa)
“Have You Heard? That Rumor About the Magical Girls”

Already we can see how the series is building towards a familiar theme of sacrifice.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica the Movie – Part III: Hangyaku no Monogatari

「劇場版 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ 叛逆の物語」
(Gekijo ban Mahou Shojo Madoka Magica: Hangyaku no Monogatari)
“Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica the Movie – Part III: Rebellion Story”

“They are the ones who pray for hope, embrace hopes, and fight ever onward. They are magical girls.”

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – OST II

So once again I return to Kajiura Yuki and her typically unique soundtrack for Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica. Since there’s no real point in me repeating what I had to say in my last post, I’ll instead suggest that if you haven’t already read it, you go back and do so. That way I can skip straight over introductions (and recommendations at the end) and focus entirely on the meat of the soundtrack – the music itself.

Important note: There will be spoilers. If you haven’t watched Madoka and plan to do so in the future do not read this post!

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – OST I

Kajiura Yuki has long been one of my favourite soundtrack composers, both in the anime and video game industry. With series like .hack//SIGN, Mai-Otome, Pandora Hearts, and of course, Fate/Zero under her belt, it’s always fair to expect great things. For Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica she brings us a typically unique soundtrack filled with unintelligible lyrics, folk influences and Latin titles!

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – 11, 12 (END)

「最後に残った道しるべ」 (Saigo ni Nokotta Michishirube)
“The Only Way Left”

In a world where the final outcome will always be one where someone loses, no one will ever feel that they have completely won. It’s that feeling that pushes certain individuals to strive and move toward finding that one possible solution to conquer a never ending vicious circle.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – 10

「もう誰にも頼らない」 (Mou Darenimo Tayoranai)
“I can’t depend on anyone anymore”

Well, I can honestly say that I didn’t see any of that coming. I know that we just learned about Homura’s ability to stop time, but I never thought that she would have the ability to travel back through time. I suppose the notion that she’s someone from the future isn’t entirely incorrect, but it’s not like she has a future to return or anything.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – 09

「そんなの、あたしが許さない」 (Sonna No, Atashi ga Yurusanai)
“I won’t allow that”

First, all of you who said Homura had the ability to stop time — you were right. The question I pose to you is, are those powers from being a Mahou Shoujo or something else? Getting back on topic, it felt like this episode was used specifically to close up some loose ends. Once again, after the proper context is brought in, I can’t help but feel that Kyubei is not completely evil.
