The Daily Dose

  • Unless there’s some big news, I likely won’t be posting any Daily Doses over the next few days so that I can work on the Summer 2008 Preview instead. There’s only half as many new shows as the spring, but it still takes a lot of time to research and write up.
  • ALIVE Saishuu Shinkateki Shounen will be getting an anime.
  • Dengeki Online has an interview with the main cast of the upcoming third season of Zero no Tsukaima. Supposedly the themes for this time around are “love” and “ero”.
  • The official Macross Frontier website has uploaded a preview of the upcoming ALL THAT VF short I mentioned a couple of days ago.
  • TV Asahi has opened their website for the new Someday’s Dreamers anime starting in July. As MOON PHASE notes though, both it and the official site are still rather sparse.
  • ZAKZAK has some screenshots of the upcoming second Mai-Otome S.ifr episode, as well as an post-recording interview with the cast.
  • Naruto Shippuuden‘s new ending theme starting in July will be NICO Touches the WallsBroken Youth.
  • If you find anything that you think I should mention on any particular day’s Daily Dose, please send me an email with the words “ANIME NEWS” somewhere in the subject line.

FreezeFrame: I’m Looking At Her Ankles

From some deep, dark corner in the back of jaalin’s mind…

Anime girls are the best. Unlike those found in 3d-land, anime girls were created for the sole purpose of entertaining me – decades in the making, the science of creating an anime girl has been perfected down to the little personality quirks, the glimmer in their eyes, and the nuances in their voice (Aisia lisp, anyone?) I thank these artists from the bottom of my heart, cuz man oh man do they do their job well.

    Random Musings – The T-Minus 8 Edition

Some quick news and updates, which you may or may not have already heard about.

  • There’s no new episode of Tsubasa Chronicle this week, nor will there be one next week because of the high school baseball championship on NHK. Episode 42 will air on August 26th.
  • Speaking of NHK, I’m dropping NHK ni Youkoso! I’m almost caught up with School Rumble, and I’d much rather write about that.
  • There’s a trailer up for Strike Witches on the official website. Click on “ITEM” on the sidebar to get the pop-up that has a link to the video. It is mostly made up of eye candy of the characters flying around in battle.
  • plamo‘s latest stop-motion Gundam videos are based on the Inukami ED, both Aice^5 and Rice^5 versions. And in case you missed it, plamo also made a Gundam version of the Chokotto Sister ED.
  • The first volume of the Mai-Otome Zwei OVA is reported to be due out on November 24th, 2006. The description says that the story will be about a meteorite falling onto the planet, but makes no mention of any specific new characters. In fact, it sounds a lot like they’re just going to be using Arika and friends (not that that’s a bad thing).
  • According to the official site, Blood+‘s second original soundtrack is due out on September 27th, 2006. The first one was so good, I can’t wait to hear the second one. I don’t know which songs they’ll be including though since all of my favorites are already on the first one.
  • Oh yea, I turned 21 years old this past week…
