Random Musings – Sousei no Aquarion ~Uragiri no Tsubasa~ and D.Gray‐man Anime!

A few quick news items courtesy of MOON PHASE:

  • The official Aquarion Blog has updated with an image of what appears to be a teaser poster for the next season of Sousei no Aquarion, tentatively titled 「裏切りの翼」 (Uragiri no Tsubasa – Wings of Betrayal). The title of that post is “???@Media Factory Summer Festa 2006” which is where I assume the poster was shown (you can find the website for the Summer Festa here). The teaser poster seems to show Apollo carrying Silvia with blacked out Vectors and an Aquarion in the background. Kind of hard to tell what the series is going to be about on just one poster though.
  • The popular manga series D.Gray‐man is getting an anime! It was announced that it will begin airing in October, which is the same month that the DEATH NOTE anime is supposed to start (as shown in that link).
  • The official website for the Bleach Movie, titled MEMORIES OF NOBODY, is open.
  • The Disclaimer

So I’ve been working on catching up, but having an entire’s week worth to do is a lot. I’ve already gotten caught up on some of the bigger shows (Blood+, Haruhi, Ouran High), and most of the rest will come eventually. I say most because there will likely be a few changes in what I watch and blog. So if I don’t cover your favorite series, please don’t send me an email telling me that I’ve forgotten to write about it. I haven’t forgotten – either I haven’t had the time or I don’t have the movitation to continue on with the series in question. This is especially true given that next week starts the new season (more on that coming very soon), meaning that there are lots of new shows I will be giving priority over some of the older ones.

Once again, a big Thank You to everyone for supporting me and this site through the past week and through the past year. 🙂

    Catch-22

Well I’m back from the hospital, for better or worse.
A brief run-down of what happened:
    Saturday:
-Had chest pains, difficulty breathing, so I went to the ER.
-After a very short wait, they did a chest x-ray and determined that my lung had indeed collapsed again, this time 100%.
-They were initially going to re-inflate my lung by sticking a tube in my chest, and then do surgery the next day, but then decided on just doing the surgery the next day.
-I’m admitted into the cardiovascular ward.
-Couldn’t sleep that night because of pre-surgery anxiety and because the motor/fan under the hospital bed loudly goes on and off every five minutes.
    Sunday:
-Watched the Japan vs. Croatia game and then the first few minutes of the Brazil vs. Australia game before surgery.
-They knocked me out around 2 in the afternoon after giving me 2 IVs and a catheter.
-I woke up again around 4:30 that afternoon, surgery went fairly well.
-I slept for the rest of that day until around midnight when I got up and tried to walk around a little.
    Monday:
-Sleeping, watching the World Cup, recovering from surgery
    Tuesday:
-Woke up wanting to throw up, spent the rest of the day with this feeling
    Wednesday:
-Doctor removed my tube at 8 in the morning. Out of the entire process, this was the most pain that I had to go through because he took the tube out and stitched me up right there on my hospital bed with no anesthetics.
-Discharged from hospital around 10AM. Came home, slept most of the day. Caught the tail end of the Ivory Coast vs. Serbia-Montenegro and Netherlands vs. Argentina games.

I have about 7 or 8 holes in me from the various IVs and injections that they gave me over my hospital stay, along with three stitches up the side of my chest from where they operated on my lungs and where the chest tube was. Currently I’m still in lots of pain, but I’m pretty reluctant to take my medicine. Basically the painkillers get rid of the pain, but cause heavy nausea and constipation. So I have to decide between being nauseous or in pain, and I’m choosing pain for now. Full recovery is going to take 4-6 weeks. A big Thank You to everyone for your support.

Ugh, here we go again… (Part 2)

Colin here, Omni’s roommate, Omni wanted me to pass along a message saying:

“This is Omni. I’m currently holed up in the hospital. Instead of a partial collapse this time, my left lung is 100% collapsed. I’m going into surgery tomorrow morning where they will hopefully reinflate my lung and prevent this from ever recurring. It’s a low-risk procedure that will hopefully take only an hour, but I will need to be kept in the hospital for 3 days. Meaning I won’t be back until, at earliest, 8:30 EST. Obviously I won’t have any access to anime, so no blogging for me until later on in the week.”

I’ll keep you guys updated as Omni lets me know more.

Random Musings – The Homeless Edition

  • Based on the results of the poll from last Saturday asking when you preferred the Weekly Roundup Poll, Sunday was the clear winner with 44% of the votes. Since I have no objections to that, the Weekly Roundups will be moved to Sunday, which would be the day Haruhi and School Rumble air, effective starting this week. This should bolster the Blood+ and Haruhi votes a little and might take some away from FSN, but we’ll see how it turns out.
  • In case anyone was curious, my top three current favorite series are: 1. Blood+ 2. Ouran High School Host Club 3. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. Following those closely are Utawarerumono, Fate/stay night, and Kamisama Kazoku.
  • The summer season is less than three weeks away! Expect a schedule of sorts sometime (hopefully) in the next week or so. I actually started listening to a ton of Spitz and Suga Shikao music earlier this week, so I’ve been in a mood to see the next Honey and Clover this entire time.
  • And finally, you might be wondering why I called this entry the “Homeless” edition and what the picture to the right is all about. I was browsing the popular japanese blog Houtou Opera House and noticed an entry on something called 「ホームレス大図鑑」 – “The Homeless People Large Illustrated Encyclopedia,” or what I like to call “the big picture book of homeless people.” I know this is a serious subject, but that book title just had me cracking up for the longest time. Basically it’s a book about, well, the Japanese homeless. You might understand a little better if you go and check out H-Opera’s scans of the book (scroll down about halfway) – it’s certainly interesting. Anyway, this is just one of those curiosities that gave me a good laugh (at the book title, not the subject matter), and made me go “I can’t believe someone wrote a 271-page book about this.”
