The disgusting soup returns! We finally learn where Gauche got his questionable palette from as Sylvette proudly serves her original special soup. Appearance-wise it’s deceivingly delicious, but Lag and Niche are quick to inform us otherwise. How something can look that good yet taste like total crap is beyond me, but that mystery is nothing compared to the one concerning Gauche.
「ある夜の出来事」 (Aru Yoru no Dekigoto)
“The Incident That Night”
Magical shrine maidens fighting enraged artifact spirits? Not that I mind or anything when it’s Kotone and Akari involved, but I feel like we’re losing focus of a certain someone and his cat curse.
「Falle ~ひと夏の経験~」 (Hito Natsu no Keiken)
“Trap ~A Summer Experience~”
The “evil Kaede” look is proving to be quite sinister, yet dangerously alluring at the same time. It’s definitely a nice change from her cute airheaded one. Problem is, it doesn’t look like she has some forgivable split personality thing going on — she’s just a huge deceitful bitch. On the plus side, Natsuru lives out THE dream when he’s forced into the women’s public bath by a bunch of attractive girls.
What a chapter. While the action may have died down (sorry shounen-fanatics), the story actually took a turn for the better. First off, Sai tells Naruto that all his friends have decided to kill Sasuke as well. It’s for the sake of the world and all, but still a huge shock to Naruto when he hears that Sakura plans to kill him herself. Whether or not she can actually defeat a Kage/Jinchuuriki-level ninja is another story of course. It’s too bad she wasn’t born an Uchiha with a resolve like that though — she’d be well on her way towards obtaining a Mangekyou.
After all the heated discussion before, I’m relieved to finally have it confirmed that Sakura’s confession was merely her way of lifting a lifelong burden off Naruto. Yes she cares about him and thought this would make things easier on him, but I wouldn’t be the least bit happy if I were in Naruto’s shoes. Love may have been there, but evidently not the right kind, so it’s still a pity/self-sacrificial confession in my eyes. It doesn’t sit well with me that she tried to make him believe in a false love just to distract him from the matter at hand. So for that, kudos to Naruto for not buying it right from the onset.
Three cheers for Kakashi as the new acting Hokage? I’d so go for that over Danzou any day of the week, even though I find Kakashi’s stamina and personal interest somewhat lacking for the position. His skills and character are definitely suited for the job though. As for the arrival of Gaara, I was happy to see him give Naruto some resolve on what to do about Sasuke, but his whole bit on becoming Kazekage long before Naruto’s Hokage dream came off as a subtle shot. Obviously Gaara’s way too serious to make jokes, especially seeing as he swore to protect Naruto with his life, but I laughed at the thought of him saying, “What’s the holdup Naruto? I’ve been a Kage for so long already.”
As usual, we have another great cliffhanger like this manga’s well-known (hated?) for. While I’d be totally for another round of Sasuke vs Gaara after they’ve powered-up so much, Madara vs Danzou should be pretty good too. Out comes Danzou’s right arm… another Uchiha body part he supposedly stole. Speaking of which, is anyone else a bit turned off by how stealing eyeballs and limbs is the “cool” way of powering up in this series? Whatever happened to promoting inner strength and doing things with your own abilities to young kids?
Why settle for a fan magazine about your favorite writer when you can go all the way with your own short novel? Azusa’s on the right track in that regard as she slaves away in front of the computer screen writing night after night. Hmm, that sounds exactly like what I do… *sniff*
They sure know how to pick up the pace by having all hell break loose this week. The sight of Saiko’s lifeless body enrages Takahisa beyond the point of no return, and Misuzu finds herself powerless before Superbia’s true identity — the legendary Kusakabe Misao. The truth behind the Black Knights is revealed, but Kakeru and the others are battered and demoralized. The only one able to smile through all this is Yuka with her messed up thinking.
Much like the single for the third FMA ending theme (released 09-11-11), its PV has been out for quite a while now. I had seen it several weeks ago after Omni pointed it out to me, but posting about it kind of slipped my mind until now. As such, I wouldn’t be surprised if many of you have already come across it, so this is more for those who haven’t or would simply like to hear me out. (We have readers like that right…? >_>)
Titled “Tsunaida Te” 「つないだ手」 (Held/Connected Hands), the song is performed by a relatively new female duo that debuted last year under DefSTAR Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. Featuring MIE as the vocals and AILA as the rap, Lil’B is actually short for “Little Betrayal”, a name that’s supposed to mean they’re “a playful and mischievous surprise in the world”. Hidden group name meanings aside, the PV doesn’t feature MIE nor AILA as it’s one of those scenario-type music videos. Instead, it stars the cute fashion model/actress Sasaki Nozomi. While this could easily become a full-blown discussion about Nozomi, I’ll stop myself there with the “cute” remark and let you comment on that regard. Anyway, unlike supercell’s Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari PV, this one is pretty easy to follow, which saves me from having to summarize it in some way. As for the song itself, I originally didn’t think much of it when I heard it back in episode 27 and still sort of prefer Fukuhara Miho’s “LET IT OUT”, but it makes for a good solemn song in comparison.
Ask and you shall receive seems to be the case here, as the story is finally starting to string together like I’ve been waiting for. This season, it looks like things are focusing on Arashi and Hajime, who suddenly lose the ability to time slip together after their relationship enters some rocky waters.
「初体験です☆」 (Hatsutaiken Desu☆)
“It’s My First Time☆”
Haruka must be really sheltered by her princess-like lifestyle if she’s never had a hamburger before. What’s even more surprising though is that this week is supposedly her and Yuuto’s first date. All those previous Akiba-kei outings don’t count according to Mika, which when you think about it, really means they haven’t had a proper date yet. Somewhat shocking when it’s been 20 episodes since the start of season one.
「嘘から始まる妄想劇場(ストーリー)」 (Uso Kara Hajimaru Mousou Gekijou (Sutoorii))
“The Wild Theatrical (Story) that Starts with a Lie”
For a place that angels supposedly come from, the Synapse sure seems like a hellish place. All you have are a bunch steak-eating sadists up there who aren’t the least pleased with how Nymph has awakened the Uranus Queen. It looks like Nymph is damaged in some way now too, or at least that’s what the blinking green light on her collar seems to indicate.
