Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector – 08

「凶鳥の眷属」 (Kyouchou no Kenzoku)
“The Black Bird’s Kindred”

It lost its V-fin antennas and got the Banpresto logo shades treatment like SRX, but the Huckebein Mk. III makes its appearance in this adaptation as the Exbein, complete with the “Ace Attacker” theme. Ryouto goes all out with it as well and uses the AM Gunner’s Full Impact Cannon with the Boxer parts still attached to deal with the arrival of the Inspectors. Now there’s sheer robot awesomeness and then there’s that.

Tegami Bachi REVERSE – 08

Niche’s twin sister doesn’t believe in clothes, let alone underwear.

「ブルー・ノーツ・ブルーズ」 (Buruu Nootsu Buruuzu)
“Blue Notes Blues”

One two-cour season and eight episodes later, we finally learn a bit more about Niche’s past as the Child of Maka. Up until now, there hasn’t been a whole lot about where Lag’s faithful dingo came from, so when the preview last time indicated that she would be reunited with the legendary creature and another gold hair, blue eyes, woman with claws for hands, I was expecting big things this week.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai – 08

Kyousuke attempts to represent Kirino as her brother, and Kuroneko follows up nicely in support.

「俺の妹がこんなにアニメ化なわけがない」 (Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Anime-ka na Wake ga Nai)
“There’s No Way My Sister is Getting An Anime Adaptation”

There wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between Kousaka siblings this episode, but the way that Kyousuke continues to go out on a limb for Kirino even without her knowing about it never ceases to amaze me. In fact, it’s gotten to the point that Kuroneko even wishes she had an older brother like him, which goes to show that just about everyone’s taken notice to his constant sacrifices for her.

Hakuouki Hekketsuroku – 18, 19

「輝ける暁光」 (Kagayakeru Gyoukou)
“Shining Light of Dawn”

The Shinsengumi casualties are piling up one after another as the Bakufu continues to fight a losing war against the New Government forces. It’s admittedly a bit depressing at this point as the story approaches its inevitable conclusion, but I’m completely caught up in the depiction of their final hours both fictionally and non-fictionally.

Sora no Otoshimono Forte – 08

“Tomoki!”

「空に響く天使達(ウタヒメ)の声」 (Sora ni Hibiku Tenshi-tachi (Utahime) no Koe)
“The Angel’s (Songstresses’) Voices Resound in the Sky”

With the arrival of Chaos, the comedy takes a backseat this week and the emotion-filled drama unfolds in its place. Much like the first season, Nymph is the one who’s victimized again, as Chaos uses her strong emotions against her. After all the focus Nymph’s been getting since her chain was cut, I was really pleased with the way it culminated to this.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru – 07

「愛のナイトウ避行」 (Ai no Nai Touhikou)
“Loveless Elopement”

So when they say “Slice of Life”, I suppose you can take it as literally cutting a slice out of your life and animating it. What’s cool is that since we are all different people, all of our experiences are different – and what makes slice of life so great is that anyone can take that slice of whatever they’re showing and almost feel like they could be a part of that, even if that person has never experienced it.
