「Episode 1」
The live-action Ouran Hight School Host Club drama is here and boy is it a doozie. I thought an eccentric Suou Tamaki voiced by Miyano Mamoru was a bit much, but Yamamoto Yuusuke takes it to another level. Don’t even get me started about the twins, Hitachiin Kaoru and Hikaru, played by real-life twin actors Takagi Manpei and Shinpei respectively, who take their forbidden love act to uncomfortable extremes. That’s the number one thing that I wasn’t looking forward to at all. 3D can be pretty dangerous.

We had a school-life episode like the preview last time suggested, along with some minor Ashi involvement to stir up the school festival preparations. The best part of it all was Alma calling Ruri to the rooftop, leaving the latter with some hopeful expectations.

This may have been a Yukiho-centered episode, but I made sure to get a reasonable amount of Miki shots in as well. You didn’t really think I’d let a shutter chance slip by did you?

I’m still not feeling the drama behind the Subaru’s sense of duty to server as Kanade’s butler, nor the “stand by me” encouragement by Kinjirou’s late father Jirou (Miyashita Eiji), yet I don’t seem to mind one bit while watching this series. Talk about some clear oversight of screenplay in favor of personal entertainment from the romantic comedy-like antics. I wasn’t kidding when I said I’d watch this show just for Subaru.

“Then Eat Me Splendidly”
Interestingly enough, seeing a cat run into a penguin and a fish smack a girl on her big forehead doesn’t seem all that weird anymore after two episodes of Mawaru Penguindrum. I had no idea what to make of that commercial before the series started airing and now it seems like a completely ordinary scene, as does the murder-like one involving a huge pot of curry.

I’m not too sure how to take Nene and Nono’s complaints about how boring their small town is, because it felt like CLAMP was trying to tell us that Blood-C’s been purposely uneventful so far. It was as if they were mocking us by saying they’re going to tell this story their way and that they could care less about any bandwagoners who have already hopped off.

It must absolutely suck to be Haruka right now. Besides getting dropped on a moment’s notice when a new girl appears, I feel so bad that she’s trying to hard when there’s so much working against her — and it’s not like these are thing she could even deal with!
