WORKING’!! – 03
「スランプの理由」 (Suranp no Wake)
“Cause of the Slump”
Ah, the Takanashi women. I still remember how they were first introduced in episode four of season one and could’ve easily turned the show into a household sitcom.

「AGEの力」 (AGE no Chikara)
“The Power of AGE”
The more I watch Gundam AGE, the more apparent the super robot influences become. We have Vargas as the old scientist/co-creator of the Gundam, Emily as his granddaughter and childhood friend of Flit, and now the AGE Builder that can create weapons on-the-fly from the data acquired by the Gundam’s evolutionary AGE System (a little too convenient, but still pretty cool to see).
「サバの味噌煮弁当 674kcal」 (Saba no Misoni Bentō 674kcal)
“Mackerel Boiled in Miso Bento 674kcal”
Ben-To returns… for a second helping.
「冬木の地」 (Fuyuki no Chi)
“The Land of Fuyuki”
Well, I hope I didn’t ruin the enjoyment of too many viewers out there about something that was revealed in just nine minutes of this third episode. Personally, I really didn’t think it was that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.
「みんな揃って、生放送ですよ生放送!」 (Minna Sorotte, Nama Housou Desu yo Nama Housou!)
“Everyone Gather, It’s a Live Broadcast, a Live Broadcast!”
There’s no holding 765 Pro down, as they’re popular enough to have their own live program now. If you’re looking for a “show” that’s purely about cute girls doing cute things, IM@S “Are We Live? Sunday” is definitely it.
「嘘つき姫」 (Usotsuki Hime)
“False Princess”
Isn’t it about time they rename this series “Momoka Penguindrum”? It seems like just about everyone is hung up about Ringo’s deceased sister and every subsequent person has it progressively worse than the last.
「The Contractor’s key」
It’s refreshing to see a main character who is the strong and silent type. Whether it’s awakening to a Persona, finding out a classmate has been murdered, or discovering there’s nothing inside Kuma’s costume, it doesn’t matter because nothing fazes Yuu Narukami.
「発生 genesis」 (Hassei)
If there’s one thing that I was worried about coming into Production I.G’s sci-fi post-apocalyptic original noitaminA series, it would be the inadvertent reader hype created by my own anticipation, both in the Fall 2011 Preview and the site’s banners.
「舞踏会の殺人」 (Butōkai no Satsujin)
“Murder at the Ball!”
Given the staff involved I have no doubt that this will be a competently produced and directed series. The key question is whether the story and characters will come alive in future episodes, and make the series engaging as well as competent.
「きょぜつ色のクッキング」 (Kyozetsu-iro no Kukkingu)
“Rejection-Colored Cooking”
Two episodes later, I’m not so much impressed by Manglobe’s adaptation of Mashiro-iro Symphony as I am intrigued by how it has all the makings of just another high school romantic comedy, yet always seems to stop a step short of actually becoming one. It’s very odd I must say, because as soon as it looks like things are going to fall into an overused trope, the characters prevent that from happening.
