Fate/Zero – 06

「謀略の夜」 (Bouryaku no Yoru)
“Night of Stratagems”

The episode title said it all, so I don’t think anyone should be terribly disappointed that the action dialed back this week in favor of more exposition. It’s not like more exposition is ever a bad thing when it comes to Fate/Zero, but Kiritsugu did blow up a building to make sure everyone’s paying attention.

THE IDOLM@STER – 18

「たくさんの、いっぱい」 (Takusan no, Ippai)
“Lots of, Lots”

Ritsuko fans will likely be both pleased and disappointed with this episode, as we got to see her stand in for a mumps-ridden Azusa with some of the shoddiest artwork to date. The quality has always fluctuated with some shortcuts taken when possible, but wow, this week was a doozy since it looked like the animators finished the episode in their sleep.

Guilty Crown – 04

「浮動 flux」 (Fudou)

After the cliffhanger last time, Guilty Crown takes a noticeable turn for the better in terms of showcasing complexity in the characters, building up the story, foreshadowing future events, and most importantly, avoiding any questionable plot developments that viewers may dwell upon prematurely. At the center of it all is of course Shuu, who’s now at a crossroads on who to trust.

Shinryaku!? Ika Musume – 05

「ラジコンじゃなイカ!?/七夕じゃなイカ!?/一人遊びしなイカ!?」 (Rajikon Janai ka!? / Tanabata Janai ka!? / Hitori Asobi Shinai ka!?)
“Isn’t That Remote-Controlled!? / Isn’t It Tanabata!? / Won’t You Play Alone!?”

* Note: Ika Musume will be on break again next week so that the other broadcast stations can finally catch up.

Fate/Zero – 05

「凶獣咆哮」 (Kyoujuu Houkou)
“Howl of a Mad Beast”

They’re really pulling out all the stops now, as what looked like four Servants standing off against one another suddenly became six. I don’t recall that ever happening in Fate/stay night. With the way they were assessing the situation and feeling one another out, it could’ve easily turned into a free-for-all battle royal.

THE IDOLM@STER – 17

「真、まことの王子様」 (Makoto, Makoto no Ouji-sama)
“Makoto, A True Prince”

You know, I tried to go with the flow of this episode and see Makoto as a girl — I really did — but it’s so damn hard to. It’s like they designed her character so well that it’s practically impossible to her any other way. Sorry Makoto, you’ll forever be the idol prince who dreams of being a princess.
