Nichijou – 26 (END)

「日常26」 (Nichijou 26)
“My Ordinary Life 26”

It takes something special to give a series a good ending episode — especially for series longer than one-cour and this last episode of Nichijou didn’t just push the envelope. It stared at that envelope, ripped it in half, ate the pieces, and then lit itself on fire in order to make sure that there was no trace of an envelope.

Kami-sama no Memo-chou – 12 (END)

「君と僕と彼女のこと」 (Kimi to Boku to Kanojo no Koto)
“You, Me, and For Her Sake”

I don’t know what the point of luring out your enemies is if you don’t fully intend to have fun with it. When Hakamizaka was threatening to “fly away” if Narumi wasn’t fast enough to catch him, I didn’t expect him to be flying away on drugs.

Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi – 12 (END)

「ほのかに白い終業式」 (Honoka ni Shroi Shuugyoushiki)
“Pale White Graduation”

For its final episode, Itsuka Tenma went out on a really high note. Not only was there the perfect balance between fanservice and character building, but if the story had been at this point about six episodes ago, it felt like the perfect jumping off point before a big, badass arc.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni! – 12

「バカと道化と鎮魂歌(レクイエム)っ!」 (Baka to Douke to Chinkonka (Rekuiemu))
“Idiots, a Fool, and Requiem”

It only took 11 episodes for it to finally come, but the ESB’s are finally back… sort of. If you remember how popular episode 4 was when the chibi version of everyone’s summons were flying around making a mess by revealing everyone’s secrets, this one hit the opposite end of the spectrum. Instead of cute, we get a combination of sexy and quite literally flat.

BLOOD-C – 11

「たれをかも」 (Tare wo Kamo)
“Who Might You Be”

I really don’t like all the negativity I exude when I talk about Blood-C, but sometimes it feels like CLAMP is purposely messing with me. I mean come on, the TWINS are getting sick and tired of this crap? That sure came off as CLAMP’s way of saying, bend over, take whatever we’re going to give you, and enjoy it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a memo with “orz <-” on it to summarize the feeling viewers should get after watching this episode.

Mayo Chiki! – 12

「迷える執事とチキンな俺と」 (Mayoeru Shitsuji to Chikin na Boku to)
“The Butler who got Lost and I, the Chicken”

Instead of leaving things open ended to make us viewers claw at the chance of a second season possibly coming over the horizon, the kiss between Subaru and Jirou probably sealed the deal. However, the events leading up to that fateful kiss was classic Mayo Chiki madness.

Mawaru Penguindrum – 11

「ようやく君は気がついたのさ」 (Youyaku Kimi wa Kigatsuita no sa)
“You Finally Realized It”

It was as if the stars penguin drums aligned this episode, as all my suspicions last episode somehow turned out to be correct. From Masako and her obsession with Kanba to Mario and the need for Ringo’s diary, there were plenty of confirmations to around. Best of all, they’re pushing the Shouma x Ringo pairing like I’ve been hoping.
