Kami-sama Dolls – 09

「因縁の渦」 (Innen no Uzu)
“Spiral of Fate”

Is it just me or does every series get instantly better when a Hanazawa Kana-voiced character is added to the mix? I could get used to hearing her in clingy roles too, especially when it’s opposite Hibino, who seems completely disinterested in our male lead. “Kyouhei-sama” has a nice playful ring to it too — at least when Hyuuga Mahiru says it. She gives new meaning on the “Girl Meets God” series tagline too.

Break Blade – 06 (END)

「慟哭ノ砦」 (Doukoku no Toride)
“Fortress of Lament”

After rewatching the final movie of the Break Blade series almost two months later, I still can’t shake the feeling that it lacks a sense of closure. It wasn’t all that unexpected given that the manga doesn’t conclude where the movies did, but it does leave something to be desired when Rygart, Zess, Hodr, and Sigyn’s backstory is left completely open-ended.

Ikoku Meiro no Croisée The Animation – 09

「秘密 Jardin secret」 (Himitsu)
“Secret Garden”

The flashbacks continue to reshape my image of Camille ever so slightly but this latest one has me fairly convinced that she saw Claude as much more than a plaything. The look on her face when she peered into Enseignes du Roy was clearly of a girl who had feelings for the person she set her eyes on.

Sacred Seven – 09

「転石するイシ」 (Tenseki Suru Ishi)
“Rolling Darkstone”

It may have been a little cliche and predictable, but for a series that’s going for the reluctant superhero approach, it’s hard to fault Sunrise for using some of the staples of the genre. This includes the tried and true mustering strength out of nowhere and coming in the nick of time to save the heroine.

Mawaru Penguindrum – 07

「タマホマレする女」 (Tamahomare Suru Shoujo)
“The Egg Worshipping Girl”

Holy fabulous max Batman. I don’t recall the last time Noto Mamiko’s been in such a persuasive role. I really don’t know what Ringo can do against Yuri at this point, except maybe raping Kenju in his sleep and having his babies. Wait what? She’s really doing that? Well I’ll be damned.

BLOOD-C – 07

「うかりける」 (Ukarikeru)
“Thoughtlessly”

I usually prefer the modest approach, but after I joked about how I would look like a genius if the “dog” talked back in episode four, I just have to throw in a (somewhat unconfident) “what did I tell you” as a follow-up to it. Voiced by Fukuyama Jun, our furry friend also hinted that this isn’t his true form, so the transformation part doesn’t seem so far-fetched either.
