Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? – 02

「いえ、吸血忍者です。」 (Ie, Kyuketsu Ninja Desu.)
“No, I’m a Vampire Ninja.”

After that amazing sequence of watching Ayumu transform into a Masou Shoujo last week, I don’t know what I’d do if I had to watch it again. Luckily, instead of more Ayumu-pantsu, I was given an episode full of jokes, an impressive battle scene, and a touching flashback. Plus, there were a ton of opportunities for screencaps like this.

Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu! – 02

「丸井家、もう一杯!」 (Marui-ke, Mou Ippai!)
“The Marui House is Full!”

When you say Mitsudomoe, THIS IS WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT! A upbeat opening sequence, random jokes at everyone else’s expense other than yours, and Hitoha busting out her evil eye. Everything that I expected from the first episode, except times ten.

Bakuman. – 15

「デビューと焦り」 (Debut to Aseri)
“Debut and Impatience”

And once again, Bakuman’s pacing feels like it’s moving slower than a turtle. After checking to see how much material they covered in this episode, I couldn’t believe only one chapter was covered! With some parts feeling extremely stretched out, while others felt ridiculously short, I suppose the only good thing to come out of all of this was Hattori and Azuki getting a ton of screen time.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – 02

「それはとっても嬉しいなって」 (Sore wa Tottemo Ureshii Natte)
“That Would Make Me Really Happy”

Instead of striving to be that “cute” show that tries to capture your attention with fan-service or using mystical devices, Madoka flies past the competition using it’s ability to change the atmosphere on a whim. By switching between a light hearted scene to a serious one, and making it flow smoothly, a sense of tension starts to build even though nothing is actually happening on screen. Something other shows only dream about doing.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? – 01

「はい、魔装少女です」 (Hai, Masou Shoujo Desu)
“Yes, I’m a Magic-Equipped Girl”

Masou-Shoujos. Zombies. Necromancers. Pantsu. Talking crawfish. At this moment in time, if I had the power to do so, I would make every single person in the world watch this show. If not for the previously mentioned reasons, maybe just because of how ridiculously awesome this show is.

Bakuman. – 14

「バトルと模写」 (Batoru to Mosha)
“Battle and Reproduction”

From what I can gather, it looks like Bakuman started moving toward a two chapter per episode pace rather than one to one and a half. What does that mean? An even better Bakuman that manages to keep your damn attention. With a combination of much needed drama and some real “friend” building moments, this week’s episode stands out as one of the better ones.

Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu! – 01

「狙われた子供たち!日本滅亡カウントダウン!」 (Nerawareta Kodomo-tachi! Nihon Metsubou Kauntodaun!)
“The Targeted Children! Countdown to Japan’s Destruction!”

A series that needs no introduction, we are finally graced with the second season of everyone’s favorite comedy, Mitsudomoe (Zouryouchuu)! After a whole season without Hitoha’s evil look, Futaba’s ridiculous love for boobs, and Mitsuba’s stuck up attitude, I was so excited to finally be reunited with my favorite trio of siblings. But instead of giving me a triple dose of Marui madness, I get a full episode of the Gachi Rangers!

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – 01

「夢の中で会った、ような……」 (Yume no Naka de Atta, You na……)
“As If I Met Her in My Dreams……”

From the great people at SHAFT comes an original work that looks like it’s going to blow my mind away. After being pleasantly surprised with their work with Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru last season, I was ecstatic to see that SHAFT was going to put out their own original series. While it is a “Mahou Shoujo” or magical girl show, I dove in head first, ready for anything.

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo – 13 (END)

「失意の果てに ~久遠~」 (Shitsui no Hate Ni ~ Kudou ~)
“The Limits Of Despair ~ Eternity ~”

In a surprising turn of events, just about nothing is revealed this week. Instead, my mind was pretty blown away after watching Gotou get shot. But besides watching one of my favorite characters go down pretty hard, I thought it was pretty crazy watching Yakumo’s father try to actually take over Yakumo’s body.

Bakuman. – 13

「速報と本ちゃん」 (Sokuhou to Hon Chan)
“Early Results And The Real Deal”

I think it’s happened. Kaya has won me over. I think it might have been her flamboyant attitude, her fashionable clothing, or just the way her hair is done at the end. Whatever it may be, I’m glad that she plays a decent role in this series. Besides being Takagi’s girlfriend, I think it was awfully kind of her to take the role of being Mashiro and Azuki’s in-between.
