Impressions:
Mashiro kick was the the highlight of this episode for me; after popping Fura, she goes straight for Wonderweiss. Charging up a cero?… no big deal just kick in his face first. To be honest I was expecting her to suddenly stop and gape at the cero, as many other characters do when facing new attacks, before dodging or getting blasted. How’s that for bad-ass. The rest of the episode was fairly annoying. Hiyori starts right off going into a high pitched rant against Hitsugaya. I get that he’s a fun one to tease, but the timing of it is just wrong. While humor in the midst of battle can work, here it comes off as misplaced and uncomfortable. At least Lisa got her head together, and Harribel seems to be just fine three versus one (the ice prison didn’t affect her noticeably either). Starrk was also bickering with Lilynette, fitting with his nonchalant attitude not caring much about the battle. Most of these people sure are taking the situation quite lightly… why so serious, Hisagi? It’s quite easy to survive being impaled through the chest and other mortal wounds. Considering that level one Getsuga Tensho could have taken off Urahara’s arm, a point-blank Espada-level cero should certainly do more than toast someone lightly, even with captain level spiritual power.

Moving on, Omaeda was also incredibly irritating, consistent with his character, but he is correct that petty pride doesn’t matter when you are neck-deep in shit. However, Soifon is still the only shinigami with a hostile attitude towards the vizard, Maybe because she is an assassin, she must really like working alone. Luckily, Hachi is a gentle person and so Soifon even got to have Urahara locked up for a month (what an opportunist). Regardless, it looks like Barragan is yet again unharmed even after Soifon detonated a nuke at close range inside Hachi’s barrier. Next week will feature how Barragan was “king” of Hueco Mundo. He certainly doesn’t act like a king though– with such god-like powers, it’s a waste of energy to keep taunting his enemies and bragging about his abilities, complete with the evil villain cackling. If he didn’t wait around waiting for his opponents to finish explaining their abilities and strategies in detail, he would have won already. Overconfidence is his downfall.

Production quality is iffy: fights often have very little animation, large portions of time are spent on closeups of a characters face talking, and an awful lot of backgrounds consisted of just the sky.

Woot, nice, getting closer and closer.

bleach anime is really starting to miss it’s touch to my opinion mainly because they don’t seem to invest as much time in to adding and expending the battle routines (for exmple they can add about 5 more sec for each battle scene while still remaining true to the mange and the show battles will be much batter ) :)

Old man, going down soon, yesssssssss…

Bleach post before Nurarihyon no mago? Not that it bothers me, just crossed my mind since Nuramago comes out on Mondays meaning an earlier post. Did you happen to drop the show?

    • July 20, 2010 at 11:51 pmProoof

didn’t drop it, will post later

You know you have two links to the same picture, right? Also, SHONEN ANIME IS NOT, I REPEAT, NOT MEANT FOR OVERANALYZING. ITS JUST ABOUT THE FIGHTING. THAT’S ALL. COMPLAIN COMPLAIN COMPLAIN.

Well, I’m glad their getting through this without any problems. If the story doesn’t end in a couple months, I’d say we’ll probably start seeing fillers again around where we are in the manga right now. Speaking of which, its kinda weird and yet cool to see us getting to a part in the story that we only saw in print a little over a year ago. But the showing of random clips at the beginning still bugs me. As does a lot of things.

      Fixed the screenshot.
Unfortunately this episode of Bleach had very little actual fighting.

Meh Episode, don’t really know why I’m still watching Bleach.
On another note: I’d say Soifon hates the Vizard simply for their connection with Kisuke.

    • July 20, 2010 at 10:44 pmProoof

      Yea that’s what Hachi inferred.

  • July 20, 2010 at 11:30 pmSecsuey

    oh fuck bleach
I am dropping it right now

Man, Hallibel looks huge in that picture where she’s fighting Lisa.

Decent part of the manga is coming up, there’s a fight sequence or two on the cards that could really do with extending once they get there. Really hope we get some extension to the flashbacks in the next couple of episodes and more of Hallibel’s history. It’s the kind of filler that I could go for.

standard Kubo-fare though. In order to showcase how awesome and cool the good guys are, he makes the villains become retarded and forget how to fight..

  • July 21, 2010 at 1:54 amShugo

I may have to pick up the Manga, theyre just not putting in the effort they used to anymore.

    • July 21, 2010 at 11:19 amLabyrinth

The manga is ridiculously bad, I don’t think I’ve had a wow moment in Bleach in 3 years. Every once in a while you get a couple of weeks of good plot/fights, but Kubo pretty much is sucking, One Piece or Naruto is much more interesting

I realize that they really needed every second they could squeeze out, but those arguments were just plain pathetic. They completely cut away the tension that made the fights interesting. And they also appear to have a REALLY weird power scale once again. Hitsugaya was holding his own repeatedly against Halibel (albeit with one or two asspulls) and now TWO Visored and Hitsugaya are struggling against her? Kubo, if you’re going to set someone at a certain amount of power then you have to keep them there or it just doesn’t make sense. And I also wonder who the heck made these people captains. Hitsugaya asks if they’ll let him go after Aizen, ignoring the fact Show Spoiler ▼

and Soifon spends more time distrusting Hachi than she does actually fighting.

Ranting over I really did love Bleach for a good deal of its run, but now I have to say that I’m only watching and reading to see how it ends.

Oh Mashiro. Charging at his face, and using gratuitous English. What am I gonna’ do with you? :3

You’d think with 100-something episodes, Kubo would change the weather on occasion!

    • July 21, 2010 at 5:34 amSora no Kaze

… Kubo doesn’t decide where the animation production. You would have been correct if you said with 100+ chapters, Kubo would change the weather on occasion.

      • July 21, 2010 at 5:35 amSora no Kaze

decide where the anime production goes*

      • July 21, 2010 at 8:35 amBlaineo

All Kubo’s colour pics in this arc have been clear blue sky. But I personally would like to see a sunset by now or at least something to set the mood. Bleach seriously lacks in mood. The night fights in soul society were awesome.

Hachi was the best part of that episode. Quiet and gentle and badass all at the same time. I want to know what his relationship is with Soi Fong? How does he know her and why doesn’t she like him?

    • July 21, 2010 at 8:31 amGrant

It was already made partially clear last episode how he knew Soifon.

“large portions of time are spent on closeups of a characters face talking, and an awful lot of backgrounds consisted of just the sky”. This is, sadly, totally consistent with the manga. I feel like the more the anime takes creative liberties with the manga, the better it is. Unfortunately, while the anime saved Harribel from looking weak, it somehow made Barragan seem like the least opportunistic being in the universe.

I don’t get how Soifon can stand fighting alongside with two fatties against another fatty… poor her >_> Really, Omaeda was fat enough, and you have to come and help her.. Hachi :P

      SHUT UP YUI YOU’RE DEAD.

      • July 21, 2010 at 2:32 pmDa5id

        Whoops, somehow double posted.

    • July 21, 2010 at 2:55 pmFirefly

BTW Barragans not fat, just bigboned

  • July 22, 2010 at 4:33 amkaineng

well nice kido from hacchi, and I guess this should be enough to compensate for the drag of this anime…

it’s kinda bad to stop @ where it hints barragan’s not dead, since… he wouldn’t be. well not now…

I like the new shinigami golden “7 wonders”, and they should just do “101 wonders” since there are PLENTY of weird things that could come out of shinigami themselves…
